  1. This is great news! Thanks for the insider info Jaggie. With the wave pool, does that mean that the park will nowextend into the current car park, as the boats are right on the park boundary? With the giant slides, do you know how many are installing? One or two? This is great news though, its always good to see a park owner pump money into new attractions. DJ Rappa, I agree 100%. Jamberoo is all about where YOU control the action. I think that any major rides at Jamberoo would not really suit the park and the area...its definately more suited to a waterpark, and I applaud them for making such a decision.
  2. I was at Jamberoo on the weekend, what a great park. There was a good sized crowd too. Any ideas of what the new water attractions will be? Cheers
  3. I too hope that the report is true, but it seems strange that on the same day as reports come out that Disney has made no decision on its next location in both the SMH and Telegraph, that Mix is now running with the decision already being made. I think it would just be a case of the reporters at Mix being a little bit over anxious, and paraphrasing. I doubt anything has been confirmed yet. Also to be taken into consideration, the cut off for expressions of interest for the 30ha isnt until March 24, so it makes it all a bit suspicious. I hope I'm wrong, but we will soon find out I guess! Cheers
  4. This is great news....of course there's no point celebrating until everything is signed off, but it does look very promising. This report was in both local Blacktown papers as well. The list of options they give is a zoo, amusement park, theme park or water park. A zoo is out of the question, as Zoos are run by the Zoological Department (NSW GOVT) so I doubt that is going to happen as they are inviting corporations to tender their submisisons. There was an ad in the same paper as the articles requesting private companies already, so that is most certainly a good sign. Amusement/Theme park would be great, but I am concerned after Wonderland's demise it may turn off the corporate sector to this idea, but as mentioned already, it was due to pi@s poor management (eg. opening 7 days a week in a non tourist market, shutting down HBL etc), rather than a lack of demand, so hopefully they can see their is definately potential in opening a Sydney Theme park. I'd love a themepark with a small water park component, but my personal tip is that it will be a stand alone water park. Or maybe Six Flags will branch out into the Asia Pac region??? Now that's wishful thinking!
  5. Hi everyone, Just was wondering if anyone had heard anything about the rides still left on site? I haven't driven near the site for months now. Did the Beach slides get sold off? Is the Bush Beast still standing? This may of been covered in another thread, but whose responsibility is it to remove the rides now? Are they technically still the property of Sunway and they would be paying ING to 'store' them on their behalf, or does ING now own them? Cheers
  6. Sorry, just to clarify there was only one lever. Cheers
  7. Hi there, First post to this forum. Just was reading about the levers mentioned on BB. Firstly, there was only one lever and it was at the end of the station, along with lift start, lift stop and e-stop buttons. The lever operated the airgates. The unloader would stand at the end of the platform and observe the lift hill, which they could stop if someone was standing up etc. Originally both the unloader and op would have to simultaneously hold down their respective lift start buttons to get the lift to start again if it was stopped. This was changed after the rides went to one person op, as well as the airgate lever being moved into the op booth. As mentioned the lever were purely to operate the airgates. The unloader never had control over the brakes. This applied to both Beastie and BB. When Wonderland went on their cost cutting ways and moved to one person op, they actually moved the op booth to the same side as the airgates. It was located next to the back row. They didnt even make a booth for the ops, they just moved the entire control panel over to that side. They then realised after all the work that you couldnt see the lift hill from that position (they tried to use a camera but it didnt cut the cheese) so it was finally moved over to the unload side where it stayed until the parks demise. Cheers.
