  1. Off topic I know but was mentioned above. I've thought for a long time that a highly themed mad house like Hex would be GREAT for movieworld.
  2. Did anyone see if seven or nine had coverage of the media event last night?
  3. That's irrelevant. I'm just talking about the group merging. That's just a person.
  4. I heard some people saying it was pain, or their legs were numb, bla bla. That's all a bit of an exaduration IMO there is some pressure, but that's all. And it's barely a minute it happens for. No worse than the pressure of the wipeout harness for example.
  5. Well if by "anything like" you mean every other area surrounding the coaster then yes.
  6. ^ That's not really the point. Few parks manage the merge of guests from regular and 'fast' side of a line well and that is the most important part of the system. It doesn't work at all if you let all the fast people on with no wait. Odly enough, Disney manages this balance very well.
  7. The tower looks really good from around the park and the carpark. I think that is really the intention, it's to add to the skyline, not so much something you see within the ride itself. The structure was pretty much the same when the coaster was lethal weapon.
  8. Actually I think that little "I turned those frowns upside down" tag is a great little bit of humour that both fits the themes and really sums up what has been achieved with the new trains. I really can't express how impressed I am with this change of the train the park has come up with, it's taken a 17 year old 'Never Again' ride and made it IMO one of the best on the coast. I'd honestly expect to see a lot of management of overseas parks with an aging SLC to be visiting Movie World very soon and placing orders with Kumbak for these new seat hangers.
  9. Yes and I take back my previous comments about a second train not being needed, I really didn't think the trains would make THAT much of a difference. I think the park is smart to only have one and see how demand goes, but I could imagine it being pretty high.
  10. Heres my take. I had seen the theming previously and I really think as far as 'coaster station theming' (because that's all it is, it's an outdoor coaster so I don't car what anyone says, the ride itself does not have theming at all) it's pretty solid and up with the best you'd expect from any park really. It's a really well presented attraction and I believe a step up from the original lethal theming. However it's all completely moot IMO. After riding today the new train has to be one of the greatest improvements Ive seen to any ride ever. It's a completely new ride, and a great own. You can now enjoy the forceful layout without any pain and head hanging AT ALL. Yes SLCs track badly but you can't change that, but the ride experience is now very enjoyable and the restraints very free. As long as the seat belts are adjusted right you don't even know they are there. So yes, a new theme allows the purchase of the train to be viable so I'm all for anything that has allowed that to happen. My only thoughts is they may need a second train because this could now be a VERY popular HIGHLY re-rideable attraction.
  11. Yup pretty much, it's like when people sign up to Beta test software and then complain it crashes
  12. I'm not gonna continue the argument. I just think its sad some people think the way they think.
  13. I just wish some people actually had an idea of how much theming does actually cost. All this 'just go to buntings' crap. Try building something that has to survive the general public for 5-10 years. IT'S NOT CHEAP. God even Halloween mazes that only have to last a handful of nights need a lot more that 'some wood from Bunnings' to survive.
  14. I'd post an opinion combating the points you made, some of which I actually found offensive but I get the feeling another active member of this community will shortly do a much better job than I would. I will say though that adding an extra level of comfort option in a plane, or a gold class movie lounge doesn't AFFECT the experience the people not opting for that service have in a negative way, they simply miss out. Paying to avoid a que which makes other who don't wait longer DOES affect them in a negative way. I don't like penalizing those who can't afford things when they are trying to leave reality for a day and show their family a good time, perhaps even forget their troubles for a day. Especially when it's some snotty over entitled youth skipping lines whilst hard working families wait.
  15. I don't think anyone was hating on the park not being about making movies were they?
  16. What is so confusing. The entrance is where it has been recently and is staying there. The old entrance to the theatre has been themed because the exit is still the same place and you will exit the ride back there. If the park didn't theme the old entrance area people would be complaining wouldn't they. I doubt the priorities for 'upper management' are answering our questions on we're the entry and exit is when it's obvious and you can easily see for yourself soon as its open.
  17. This is the only other post I'll make on the matter but I'm not saying the parks don't get the good with the bad comments, I'm saying that lately there is absolutely nothing positive being said about the parks, unless it's also followed up with a backhanded criticism. Ask you're girlfriends, they'll tell you that a compliment WITH a negative as well completely cancels out the compliment. I just think the parks do need a bit of a break and that the Disney and Universal standards really shouldn't be what they are held to and we should from time to time be happy they are producing good, nice additions to the parks.
  18. Disney rides typically cycle between 1000 and 3000 guests per hour on their rides, movieworld is more like the low 100s, same as a busy day at MW is 8000 people and a busy one at Disney is 80 000! Comparing the operations is just silly. I think the system may work if it is free and how it's designed because it doesn't sound like a BYPASS the line system, just a REDUCE the line. Superman still has the wait on the ramps, Scooby the last section to the load platform and I'm guessing at GL they are not just letting you straight on?? I feel on these rides it may work but also only in peak season with multiple ride vehicles. I don't think the system would work for Arkham with only the one train and it's lower capacity with a longer cycle time, but you never know. Nice to see something being given a decent trial that may or may not work, shows some real thought is being put in.
  19. Yeah I'm actually getting really sick of just reading everything so negative about what the parks are doing. Even positive comments get an added "but, followed by something negative." Remember everyone, this is not Disney and attractions do not have 100 million plus budgets. Be happy we get SOMETHING.
  20. What I'm saying is the park had its origins in movie making and everything used to be done like movies. Look around the park, you can see the back of facades everywhere. Nothing is build to be real. Over the years with attractions changing I think we've kinda forgot about all that but in the past this would have been totally acceptable.
  21. This is actually a very good point which you make. I think the idea has been lost over the years (probably just as much by the park as by guests) that the park is meant to be about 'making' movies, not being in the worlds they portray. The whole concept of making something seem real even though it's fake is a little bit of what the park is/was about. It is actually pretty cool to see that tower loom over the park from out front only to discover things are not all they seem up close, that's the magic of the movies. For your point I think the style of how this tower has been constructed does indeed get a pass.
  22. In other news I just saw Dreamworld TVC for this land and it's truly awful
  23. Hey look I hope they just keep going from strength to strength, competition is only good for the parks. If one parks steps up the theming the others will too, it's just like when white water world opened. If you look at the past 6 months things are looking very bright for all our parks.
  24. While I agree the theming looks great, don't be misled to think that Dreamworld would have just decided to step it up. This would be Dreamworks all the way and part of the contract. It would be a case of them allowing Dreamworld to have the license but then being very strict on how their brand was represented and how the land was created. You have to also keep in mind that DW built a great Nick land and then let it deteriorate so bad they lost their license... Lets hope this doesn't happen again.
