Tiger Island Refurbishment - Dreamworld 2016
Slick replied to Jay Jay The Jet Plane's topic in Theme Park Discussion
For construction that's going to start in July, they certainly are doing a very early media release about it. And by media release I mean I literally didn't hear about it until a friend shared a 7 News post a few moments ago. With this thought in mind, I think it's been a constant bugbear for a lot of people over the years that the parks still have this Apple level of secrecy about new attractions because of the Ardent/VRTP rivalry when the reality is in the age of social media even Apple are getting more transparent. Even Disney, a company that once had the same psuedo-Masonry style level of secrecy about new attractions, is releasing video clips and artwork of new areas as they make them. Granted, there's some interesting folk on here, but every basic digital marketing 101 strategy will tell you something like "engage your loyalists" as step one, and here we are in 2016 being the last to be informed when the reality is we're the ones who will proactively engage a huge audience, tell our friends and share the information around more then anyone else because we love the industry so much. Seems backwards. -
Tiger Island Refurbishment - Dreamworld 2016

So this just happened. https://www.dreamworld.com.au/things-to-do/lego My guess is that they're renovating the Fairytales building or they're going to replace the old Q4U corner with something new. On a side note, i'm over this word "precinct" being used for everything new in theme park lore. If it's a new building, call it a new building. -
Fuji-Q's moved up a lot in recent years, don't listen to what TPR says. You can buy bus/entry combo tickets for Fuji-Q - get these if you're staying in Tokyo, you'll save yourself a fortune. Also, buy the fast passes and get there early. Seriously, if there's one park in the world (Disney included) where I'd want to turn up early for, it's this one. Depending on how much time you're spending in Japan, you can buy a Japan rail pass and get unlimited Shinkansen use. If you're travelling between Tokyo and Osaka, do stop in at Nagoya and go to Nagashima Spa Land, and do stop in at Kyoto and check out the sites. You won't regret it. Stay near Shin-Osaka and you'll be able to catch a train direct to the door stop of Universal Studios Japan. Thinking back to Tokyo, Odaiba's worth a visit, it's the man-made island where Joypolis is. It's a great trip out and there's plenty to see and do. If you pick your days and you're prepared to have massive, 8am-11pm days, then you can cram Disneyland and Disneysea into two days if you plan like a boss. Thunder Dolphin's worth a visit, it's relatively close to the Tokyo Skytree (and also close to Asakusa where that old school amusement park is which is also right around the corner from Sensoji) - it's worth checking the website and social channels for closures and times in advance, I got screwed multiple times with annual maintenance despite my best efforts to work around it.

It'd be money well spent. Seriously thought, i'd get in early and get the loaded fries, bacon in the middle, and chowder to top it off (all three have bacon in it, by the way.) -

Honestly, how hard is it to get core facts right? I wonder what other industries have these basic fundamentals cocked up on a regular basis. -

Good point, i've added more dancers and performers in now. And you're right, I wish I could've mentioned the bacon more, but I just didn't feel it was right to push my own opinion too hard. -

Canon make some incredible glass, but in my mind they're playing it far, far too safe with their bodies while companies like Sony continue to rip them apart. Their new 1DX Mark II is an incredible piece of kit, save for the fact that while it's all well and good it shoots 4K@60fps, there's no C-LOG and you can't output 4K via HDMI, so there's absolutely no way to get a clean, cinematic 4K DCI shot out of it, rendering the whole endeavour completely useless. Meanwhile, I could pick up an A7R ii for literally half the price, whack a metabones adapter onto it, use all of my favourite glass, get C-LOG 4K UHD internally & get larger, more cleaner photos with a better dynamic range. Their 5D4 better make me crap my pants. -

You pretty much nailed it in my mind. With all due respect to the Austereo network, they're an entertainment company, not a news company, and so they report what happens with as much journalistic integrity as news.com.au. -

You my friend should look into how "major media outlets" syndicate and republish content then, and understand that most writers, particularly half decent ones, get paid cents to the dollar for original content, hence how dribble like this happens in the first place. -

Sensationalism makes my blood boil. This is what happens when you employ a 15 year old work experience kid in your multi-million dollar company to write articles because his CV says "he's wicked awesome at Facebook and Wordpress." Good work SeaFM/B105/clickbaiters. -

I just saw. Always neat to have my work pop up somewhere new. I have a lot of respect for the VRTP team and they seem to like what I do. -

Hah! Yep that's me alright. Signature slicked hair and all. Next time don't be a stranger and come say g'day! I'm currently a Canon full frame guy, but thinking of jumping ship to Sony. My best advice? Find a camera that you're happy to lug around all the time. A small mirrorless camera you're happy to keep in your hand that you can point and shoot at a moment's notice is better then a big heavy camera that's so painful to yield you end up leaving in a bag until you begrudgingly use because you feel so guilty (been, there done that). Basically, the best camera is the one you have with you. I'm also currently toying with a Sony RX100 Mark IV for shits and gigs, and I will say it's the most impressive "tiny camera" you can buy on the market, hands down. How did you know, though? Bingo. It had spot on umami, with a real kick at the end. For those worried about price, i'd either go the sampler pack or the seafood boil. I'll be surprised if anyone comes away from the boil hungry or feeling like they missed out, it's worth the price. While i'm here, i've thrown up some of the photos up on OurWorlds while I continue to sift through footage. It's worth a quick 30 seconds I think: http://ourworlds.co/carnivale-2016-sneak-peek/ Btw, @joz - the first photo shows how they were serving it. It was kind of weird but worked really well. -

Exactly this. Even last night I didn't step onto any rides - there's so much going on in the few hours that I think it's a far better use of your time to discover something new and, you know, buy some bacon. Did I mention the bacon was awesome? Oh, I did? Good. Because the bacon was awesome. Here's a few quick shots from last night. Update: I mentioned they had Bacon, right? -

Thought it was me for a second judging by the angle of your thumbnail on the video. Thank god it wasn't because I try so hard not to be a pest, especially when blocking someone's view can ruin someone's night. Last night was great. Really packed night which was good to see too. Food was as always amazing. Do, do, do try the millionaires bacon (or whatever it's called, it's bacon, get on it.) -

I'd love to see the Wanda group pick up Dreamworld / WhiteWater World. In terms of seeing new world class attractions come to the park I think it's the most likely route to making that happen. -
