I haven't been to Wet 'n' Wild for ages because of one small, tiny thing: What is it, you ask? Would you believe-because I'm homeless! Not. I'm just sick of the GODDAMN QUEUES!!! Such little things can stop a great day at a water park. And it's not, to my experience, only in Summer, either. I have found that whenever you go to Wet 'n' Wild, there are massive half-hour/hour long queues. The one thing that makes it worse is the fact that most of the rides don't have a high capacity. The only thing I really went on when I went to Wet 'n' Wild was the wave pool-mostly because it doesn't have a queue. But even without one, there is hardly room to move around inside it. Yes, this is a complaint. No, I'm not finished. Also, has anyone noticed how hot the ground is at Wet 'n' Wild? No shade, no clouds and water mix together to make a boiling concrete ground. The only thing stopping your feet getting blisters is the fact that you can take thongs-not really a handy solution if you're going into the water or onto a ride. I think, though it may be expensive, that Wet 'n' Wild re-think what they cover their ground with, and not hot, humid, wet concrete. Yes, impatient ones. I'm finished.

Dreamworld's New Water Park
The Theme Park Master replied to The Theme Park Master's topic in Theme Park Discussion
See what a little bit of debate can do? Not saying that I have completely changed my mind about this water park at Dreamworld, but the people who have decided to post something against a thought have turned the whole thing around. Good on everyone. Keep smiling. Off topic, I'm going to sound a little strange to some people, but I would like to congratulate Richard on his remarkable efforts to keep roller-coaster.com.au up and running. He has let us all in on what is truthful and what is...more truthful than the truth. Thanks Richard. Back on topic, this is a serious question: Where does everyone think (or know) where the water park will be constructed? -
Let me get straight to the point. The only advantage of putting a multi-million dollar top-of-the-class water park in Dreamworld is that maybe, just maybe, Dreamworld will get more people. What happened to Wet 'n' Wild, being only 5 minutes down the highway? What about the fact that really, Dreamworld is wasting money? And what about the fact that, as much as Dreamworld tries to hide it, DREAMWORLD IS NOT A WATER PARK. Now for those of you who agree with the idea of a water park in Dreamworld, good on you. Yes, it will be an extension to attendance numbers in the park and wil make Dreamworld rich. (Aren't they rich already?) Dreamworld, from my point of view, is not...just not the park that is suitable for a water park. That's exactly the same as putting a ride themed on Bugs Bunny in Under Water World. It just doesn't make sense. Dreamworld is Australia's premier thrill park, not Australia's premier water park. Why don't we leave anything watery to Wet 'n' Wild, who is five minutes down the road? This idea will cost Dreamworld many millions of dollars. By the way, I'm not taking sides or being bias. I just think it's not...well, a perfect idea to put a water park in Dreamworld. But then again, that's just my opinion.

DREAMWORLD-comercials/theme songs
The Theme Park Master replied to kennykoala's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Kenny, as far as I am aware, the Dreamworld theme music (and possibly any commercials) released by the park are heavily copyrighted materials, and the last time I got in contact with DW, it was their copyrighted music and video, not available to the general public. But that was a while ago, so I'm not exactly sure if the copyright is still in place. Ring or email (you can email them on the Dreamworld website) and find out. Otherwise just look to any lucky members of the Australian public that may own the videos. Good Luck! -
Dreamworld Needs A (nother) Coaster
The Theme Park Master replied to The Theme Park Master's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Damn it! Not Gold Rush Country! What I meant to say was Rocky Hollow. That might go in nicely. Or Dreamworld could make a new themed area, called Coasterland and have the Cyclone and another new coaster next to it. Would that work? -
Richard, I really like you, and I don't want you to get mad...but, well, the Claw was $6m, not $7m. Don't kill me! I have no money! (The Theme Park Master runs away in fright that Richard will get very, very angry.)

Dreamworld Needs A (nother) Coaster
The Theme Park Master replied to The Theme Park Master's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Maybe if Dreamworld kept the money rolling in for a few years, they could extend their land and possibly build the biggest wooden (or steel) coaster you've seen in Australia! Maybe even the Southern Hemisphere! Yeah, I can see the headlines now: 'Dreamworld builds Coaster of All Coasters'. Maybe... Trouble is, there are some pretty big roller-coasters in the Southern part of the world, and if (because most of the land Dreamworld still has to use is behind the GD) a roller-coaster, say a tall, fast roller-coaster, a mega-thrill one, was built anywhere near the Giant Drop it would kind of distract the height awe that the GD actually gets. Maybe putting a coaster in Gold Rush Country might keep everyone happy. -
The Bouncer Ride
The Theme Park Master replied to The Theme Park Master's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Thats a good idea! Not gonna work, though. -
I think Dreamworld needs a roller-coaster. Sure, the Cyclone is a great ride, but what if DW had another coaster (say a wooden one or one of those ones you see in America)? What does everyone else think?

Is it just me or is TOT getting very slow?
The Theme Park Master replied to Slick's topic in Theme Park Discussion
OK, so not everybody will get a thrill from the speed. But most peope will. Like me. -
I know that this year's logo was blue and white (come on, I did watch it!) I was in fact saying that one of the BB logos was the actual eye that was used in all series before this year. Or, just for your sake, we could say that Southern Star Endemol was more interested in putting a blue and white logo when the Claw was. But then, that would be no use, would it? Because they would show that same picture a minute later. Why am I saying this? The whole point of my thread was just to say that the Claw animation was there to be promoted, and that Southern Star would be paid, and Dreamworld would be happy. Happy?

The Bouncer Ride
The Theme Park Master replied to The Theme Park Master's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Me neither. It was just for Kyle's benefit, to make him feel a little better. And no ,it would not work for Dreamworld. -
Giant Drop Views

Cool, thanks. I just didn't know. Thanks again! But, back on topic: anyone else have the weird feeling at the top of the easern gondola? -
Giant Drop Views
The Theme Park Master replied to The Theme Park Master's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I know this is kind of getting off topic, but like I said before: has anyone noticed that the eastern gondola on the GD isn't dropping anymore, and could a really in-depth Dreamworld fanatic (no offense to anyone) tell me whether it is or not? I would say it isn't, because the last four or five times I've been to Dreamworld, I haven't once seen the eastern side of the ride. If you really want to know the truth, I didn't even think that there was an eastern side to the ride! So, does anyone know? -
Should Movieworld have a Screamworld?
The Theme Park Master replied to dreamworld_rulz's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Just to answer this question, in my eyes, no. Dreamworld already has a Screamworld, and it's what makes the park even more special than what it normally is. Also, I can't see more than half of the rides at Movie World being open at night. Surely, if the idea's already created you don't need to do it again! That's kind of like inventing the TV. Already created? Yes. Screamworld. Already created? Yes. Does Movieworld need one? No. Unless they want one. Can't see that happening. -
Giant Drop Views
The Theme Park Master replied to The Theme Park Master's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Is the Giant Drop an Intamin ride? I thought the TOT and the Claw were the only rides in Dreamworld that were manufactured by Intamin. Tell me if I'm wrong though... I'll check, anyway. Yep, my bad! I just checked the ride database and the GD is an Intamin ride. Ha! You learn something new everyday! A lot of people will say that they had no trouble, but that would be because you probably went on the western gondola. Anyone who has been on the eastern gondola, did you get sea/height sick? -
I was pondering Kyle's topic on the Slingshot last night & I've come up with an idea for a similar ride that would hold more people & give the same experience. Kyle, I want you to read this. The Bouncer. OK, imagine if you had a Slingshot ride, and instead of that useless two-person gondola, you had a 12 person gondola-like the same as the Wipeout. And it took you up about half the height of the poles and started bouncing (hence the name) and gave the slingshot bouncing effect. Hehe! Wouldn't that be cool? No. Bad idea. Very bad idea. Very very bad idea. Very very very bad idea. Anyone?
-
I'm not sure if it's still running, because I haven't seen it go up, but ages ago I did go on the eastern Giant Drop gondola, and I felt extremely sick and light-hearted looking out at the ocean. I found no problem with this on the western gondola (which I go on all the time). Has anyone else experienced sickness on the GD?

Southern Star Endemol would be more interested in putting a black and white picture of the BB eye when the Claw appears in the opening theme/sequence. The only reason that the ride appears in the theme is because Dreamworld pays SSE to put something about Dreamworld there. It may have also been Southern Star Endemol's decision to put something about Dreamworld in it. Plus, as the ride is the most popular and recent, it would be synch to realize that placing the animation in the theme would boost Dreamworld's popularity, boosting Big Brother's popularity, making more people attend evictions etc., eventually making money for Global & Southern. Also, Dreamworld is a major sponsor of the show, meaning that if Southern left them out, they may decide that they are sick of BB and tell them to ship out (which they can't do, but anyway)... It's just common sense. And if, indeed, you have watched BB's opening sequence, you should know that the animation of the Claw does not tie in with the theme music, it's just an entrance to the proper music. (Which, by the way, wasn't available to the public this year...not happy, Jan).

Should CityWalk go ahead?
The Theme Park Master replied to shootmagpies's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Sure, CityWalk could boost teen girls' confidence to go to Dreamworld, but they could be doing somethin interesting with the land e.g. build another attraction/ride. -
I really didn't need to do this, Kyle, but once again, I must inform you that you are wrong. In no way would the queue be closed for the TOT just because there was a mechanical (or whatever it was) problem. These issues last about 5-10 minutes, and it would be pointless closing a ride down just to then say that it was open again. Also, have you thought of the build-up of a waiting queue outside the ride? Whenever you (or whenever I) go on the TOT, the queue is pretty big. To have a queue that big lining up outside the skull, you would be getting problems with capacity and room. I don't think that's going to happen. But let's humour you and say that it did happen. Um...er... IT'S NOT GOING TO!

Is it just me or is TOT getting very slow?
The Theme Park Master replied to Slick's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I don't think it is, but if the Tower of Terror was in fact getting slower, it wouldn't really make a difference to the thrill the ride gives. I have always, and will always, get a thrill from the TOT, even if it is quietening down (in terms of speed). It's fast enough for me... -
Well, Kyle, that's even worse! (Thanks, NatDog!) You really, honestly think that it would be not a month, not two months, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven, not eight, not nine, not ten, not eleven but 12 months to check up on this ride? Why must you start threads that have nothing to do with anything? 12 months...pffft, yeah right.
-
I phoned Dreamworld about this topic (the Claw being "unsafe") and it is a load of rot. Everything everone else has said gives a sensible person enough proof to say 'hey, these guys are right, the Claw isn't unsafe!'. That is your problem. For some unknown reason, you can't admit that you are wrong. You should probably know by now that the Dreamworld inspection team would've known about this before the ride had begun testing or a little while after. You also said that 'two weeks ago', which would mean that the Claw has been swinging for about 6/7 whatever it is months but now they've decided to check up on it? I don't think so. Case closed. Unless anyone else has anything to say.

Sorry, it's been a while since I've checked the operating systems of rides. SK2 is right, Kyle. The automatic computer system for the Vortex spins it at the same speed. Only wear or tear can slow the ride down, and to my experience, you can't really do that with a ride like the Vortex. Mental. The thought is mental, This post is mental, This topic is not needed, And you are not needed. Have a good day. By the way, I know I'm being a little bit harsh but if you want to make a good name for yourself, you need to rethink what you say and who you say it to. You're obviously an ameteur at the theme park business, and you're telling people that have great experience and knowledge all this rubbish. I'll try and be nice from now on. If you're good.
