  1. I'm just not sure how good a park your going to get for $220 million. I'm just thinking about a few recently constructed theme parks and the costs and what they got for their money. Hong Kong Disney costs $3.1M and it has about 13 rides and a few shows, I've just read on the weekend that the attendance has dropped off in the second year. Whitewater World costs $60M and waterparks are usually a faction of the price of dry theme parks. They will definitely be able to buy some decent rollercoasters for that money but how much real themeing do we expect to see and will it even be slightly on par with the American equivalent safari parks.
  2. I agree.........Dreamworld should not longer be called a Themepark, because the Themeing is not existent. All the original Themed area have gone to rack and ruin due to Dreamworlds management lack of a maintenance budget. The old Gold Rush country which was the best Themed in the park has gotten to the point where they've had to close the coaster because they could no longer throw minimal maintenance money at it. There theory now is if they put up a couple of signs and paint building different colours this is Themeing as they have done for the Wiggles World and WWW. All the Nickeloden area is a bunch of old rides and buildings repainted with a couple of Nick characters added to make it into a new area. MLOL are really prefecting the art of making money at the expense of the maintaining what is in the park. All the new attractions have a short life span to repay the initial investment and once they have returned that outlay, they obviously no longer care for the attractions. Dreamworld should be referred to only as an Amusement park nowadays.
  3. I've heard for a fact that Dreamworld is putting in a new roller coaster into the area where the vintage cars are at the moment. I believe its penned in to open 2007.
  4. If everyone stopped trying to guess and speculate at what is going to be in the park, on the day it opens I'm sure they'll be pleasantly surprised at the variety and quality of the rides and attractions. You have to remember this is Australia and our market place is much smaller and the fact they are using market leaders in design means that they should produce a quality park for Australian standards. And I'm sure the park will even be world class if they're using Proslide rides.
  5. I over heard some interesting information about a new coaster!
  6. The waterpark is going on the southern end of the old car park site. The carpark is being totally rebuilt to fit in more cars.
  7. I've done a bit of creative thinking and come up with two names for Dreamworlds new water park, the first is Water World which is in keeping with the whole so many Worlds theme of Dreamworld. They could get Kevin Cosner to come and open the park. The second name I came up with is Wet Dreams...........again this is keeping the dream from dreamworld but its also point to the water theme. Imagine the advertising potential.....you can have wet dreams about your day at wet dreams. Anyone else got any ideas for names?
  8. Why don't you think it would work well? They want new innovative rides, which this is plus its a thrill ride of sorts. And since its going to be a water park I think they should include one. The average ride for most beginners would be about 30 secs max so it would also have a high turn over of people, plus you could use it do shows with professional or semi professional surfers. I know for a fact that there wont be a lazy river in the park. Maybe in a few years when they do an expansion they'll include a lazy river at that stage.
  9. I think they need a flowrider. Its a standing wave machine, where the water passes under the ride. Very cutting edge as there are none in Australia yet.
