Just 1 question - how are you sure that it is the (if any) lift hill when the plans are from a birds eye point of view with no indication of elevation? -
Thunder River Rapids incident at Dreamworld
Jamberoo Fan replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Investigators are using drones in their investigation. An unauthorised drone would easily be spotted. I'd assume it is before. Re-enactments may take a few days depending on the complexity of the investigation and any re-enactment would see the ride operational. They wouldn't want images of an re-enactment being broadcast or published in the media. It may be distressing to a lot of people. -

Don't expect any aerial footage of the investigation's re-enactment (quote from Sky News): -

@Ryande16, like @YLFATEEKS tried to point out, a hypercoaster was finally confirmed today in my post. Apart from Parkz, the Gold Coast Bulletin also had a proper source for once - "Helensvale-based company Alder Construction has advertised for subcontractor and supplier pricing for the new Movie World project, beginning yesterday". Whilst they didn't mention that the advertisement mentions the words 'hypercoaster', after a little research, an advertisement was found & it actually confirmed the hypercoaster. I know that there can be ambiguity in advertisements but I do feel DW would be slightly annoyed if MW promoted 'fastest rollercoaster in Australia' when it actually wasn't (unless it turns out to go faster than 161km/h). I do think everyone realises 'biggest sale ever' refers to the biggest sale a store has ever had not the biggest sale in the world. Don't be surprised - MW is probably well aware and might have found it humorous that it took 3 months for us to get solid confirmation. I did more research after I found the tender - Tenders for hypercoaster site preparation/footing placement were openly being advertised back in late July yet no one on here found them. I also found out that the site preparation/footing placement for the new hypercoaster costs maximum $2 million - that might give an idea of the total cost of the hypercoaster. The site preparation/footing placement tenders, as you can see, were also promoted 1 month prior to actual work happening (late August). These new tenders for track pre-assembly/installation works could indicate it will happen in 1 month - which would roughly meet my guess of the track parts arriving in early December. -
I've barely posted that though?

Thanks to @Brad2912 for posting that news article as the Gold Coast Bulletin revealed enough information for this to occur: -

Yeah, I know - Given advertisements have to be accurate, I was just pointing out MW would have to take into account TOT II and include 'full-circuit' if promoting any rollercoaster records involving heights lower than 119m in height & speeds slower than 161km/h. When the real answer (for full-circuit) is actually Buzzsaw (Yeah, I know it is pretty much just a loop but it is full-circuit). If that is the case, work would be halted as work has begun due to receiving DA approval, which would involving assessing and approving plans. This is what they said recently. If the 'November 20 at the latest' announcement date I predicted comes & goes (which is very likely given the Thunder River Rapids incident), I would have to leave a predicted announcement date as 'near future' or at least early March 2017, which was the SE-linked date in my timetable for the 1st teaser (construction fence advertising). -

Well once see it, they will realise it but until then, they would assume it goes the full height and hence until then, they may think it is 'taller' than the 2017 MW rollercoaster (assuming MW's future rollercoaster is under 119 metres high, which is likely). -
The Australian publishing some interesting speculation. From this article of theirs: And this article of theirs (I believe this is what they had planned for the site next to the Vintage Cars): As we can see, future proposals are already under scrutiny even if they don't involve rides so it's very likely now that any future expansion announcements for all the Gold Coast theme parks are going to be postponed (unless of course, they are leaked to the media).

ABC's good old Media Watch, not surprisingly, did a story on the media coverage of the Thunder River Rapids incident. They mainly focused on the media coverage of Ardent Leisure's response as well as briefly on the media sensationalism. You can watch the approximately 6 minute segment or read the transcript by clicking here.

I know that but does the general public realise that? Probably not - they think of it as a shuttle rollercoaster that launches towards & up an 119m tower. -

I understand that Thunder River Rapids is not part of the main safety audit but really, it will go through a safety audit as part of the investigation (hence why I called it a safety audit to simplify things). I'm thinking more along the lines that even if all the rides of DW are found to be safe in their safety audit, they would still have to wait to see if the Thunder River Rapids investigation found one of the causes of the incident to be due to park mismanagement (such as poor policies, relaxed maintenance/ride operation culture etc.). If they could rule that out, then the park can open all other safe rides again to the general public. -

True but the general public are more likely to recognise TOT II as the ride that goes up an 119 metre high tower. -
Movie World Fright Nights 2016
Jamberoo Fan replied to Jay Jay The Jet Plane's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Just saw this article on the ABC: Even though after reading the article I understand the CSIRO's main aim of the project, I still wonder if it has any application in horror-themed events in the theme park industry such as Fright Nights? I'm thinking along the lines of a photo booth that turns your face into a zombie face (unless these already exist?). Seems like one theme park has already been used as a test image for the project. Maybe Luna Park Melbourne would benefit from using this image in their marketing for horror-themed park events? -
This news article from The Australian appeared on Saturday: While this article from Crikey appeared today (referring to article above): Ardent Leisure's share price on the ASX also dropped by 1% today - not a significant drop but it doesn't help as it is still getting closer to being out of their 2 year trend again.

Dreamworld Memorial & Reopening discussion
Jamberoo Fan replied to JaggedJanine's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well the Dreamworld CEO would have appointed him to develop the plan. Once he has developed that plan, then that is another part of the re-opening criteria ticked off (assuming @AlexB's interpretation of the Ardent Leisure CEO's statement is correct). I might be getting a bit technical but they said 'all rides' so surely this would include Thunder River Rapids, whose safety audit will take longer than the rest of the rides? -
It fits all the requirements for an announcement but after the Thunder River Rapids incident, I'd say any announcement will be postponed until MW's safety audit is completed at the earliest (assuming no major issues with the park are found) as well as when the media sensationalism has disappeared & any sudden drop in MW's attendance has returned back to normal.

I think people will know it's lower than TOT II. An 119 metre high tower vs a 61-91 metre high rollercoaster - TOT would still be considered higher in everyone's minds. Who is faster? The Flash or Superman? Yeah, I believe that to be the case too. -

Yeah - there are 2 ways to reading that statement. Your interpretation is more likely though. -

Dreamworld's re-opening may be a lot longer in the future now. Ardent Leisure CEO, Deborah Thomas, said today: -
Dreamworld CEO confirmed it will be inside the park the other day. If there is anything I'm sure about the memorial's location is that it will be in a quiet spot. They may even use noise barriers or special acoustics to ensure the noise of the rides doesn't affect the memorial's atmosphere. I'm unsure if this is of any significance? It is from the Australian Financial Review:

They would need to emphasise the 'full circuit part' if it breaks a record for speed & height in full circuit rollercoasters as we do have Tower Of Terror II just down the road as 'the fastest & tallest rollercoaster in Australia' and that's not a full circuit rollercoaster. They don't need to emphasise the 'full circuit' part if, of course, MW's new rollercoaster ends up being higher than 115m in height & travels faster than 161km/h.
