  1. Sorry to double post. At Luna Park right now. Tango Train is all lit up and looks like it will be ready to go real soon. Contruction walls are still up. They are setting up an ice rink in Maloney's Corner, have they done that before?
  2. ^Having been at Disney world last October I can concur on that. And those people would spend a fortune in food etc. Is insurance also a factor to a degree, beyond regulations and manufacturers recommendations? For instance if a ride has an over the shoulder restraint and an additional redundancy like a belt versus just a lapbar, does that change the risk assessment from an insurance premium perspective?
  3. Jobe, thanks for the photos. I couldn't tell from a fleeting look on the train whether the construction was happening on the flying saucer site or in the tango train space - so that clears it up. I guess a Tango train is better than nothing.
  4. ^From what I saw on the flying saucer site, it didn't look like something they could easily move from that site down to the tango train site. It would make a lot more sense to do it on the actual tango train site if it is intended for there. I'm not an expert on this, but it would seem practical. Tempted to wander down at lunchtime and have a closer squiz, but I don't have time today.
  5. I went over the bridge this morning and I saw on the flying saucer site a red structure in the shape of a circle on the ground. My first thought was one of the Larsen loop type rides that Six Flags tries to pass off as a coaster. Though I'm not sure if they would assemble the loop on the ground and then stand it up - so maybe it's the base for some kind of circular ride. I think this will be known very soon.
  6. ^Why did I stand on the other the other side of the train this morning on the way to North Sydney lol. I'm probably going this Saturday and also Friday next week for a concert so I'll see if I can check it out.
  7. ^A wave swinger would good on the water's edge, swinging out over the water. Ha get that Fear coaster from the Sydney Easter show a couple of years ago. Oh my gosh, you'd need emergency services on standby for the regular evacs when it's running. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, it's kind of a compact carnie version of a Eurofighter. It's a shame they can't expand to that land on the other side of Maloney's corner.
  8. Ha if you've seen the Adam West Batman movie, the Dark Knight would definitely enjoy Brokeback Mountain. Maybe the park should be completely re-themed to the films of Ang Lee: Brokeback Mountain Falls, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Coaster (for Scooby), Eat Drink Man Woman (for Rick's), Lust Caution Stunt Show, Launch of Pi, Sense and Sensibility League.3D and so on.
  9. I hear you, maverick owns anything at Cedar Point IMO, and most of my fave coasters are under 200 feet. I've heard some int(amin)eresting rumours too lol.
  10. Yeah ever since they've moved mazes out to the backlot they've used that corridor really well. They come from everywhere and really get in your face and they've got their cue from when another tram from the lower lot arrives rather than people randomly going through anytime - so they're all ready and waiting. And you ain't going back to the lower lot unless you go through. Definitely the best scare zone.
  11. It's going to be Family Guy themed: Quagmire's Giggity Giggity Giga Coaster. I think we'll all need to be underwhelmed from riding Doomsgay Destroyer before this tread get hot again. Or a sighting Intamin track in the backlot.
  12. ^It could really work with a bit of fog and some scare actors. A couple of years ago HHN Hollywood, they had a a gauntlet style scare zone in the backlot (which you pretty much had to walk through). It was a wide passageway with lots of fog and zombies coming at you and was very effective.
  13. Agree, that was one of the best bits of HHN Hollywood last year. I really enjoyed both their Michael Myers mazes, last year and 2009 (which had parts from all the films rather than the first like last year). The doomsday area might loan itself well to a very gnarly scarezone, and I wish they's use that dead space behind lethal weapon in Chinatown. For a maze or a running-the-gauntlet-like scare zone.
  14. That would be a great maze. I don't recall if someone like Halloween Horror Nights has done that before, if they haven't, they should. So many great set pieces well suited for a walk-through.
  15. Pink camo? They better have a stand selling Orange Mocha Frappucinos as well. I'm looking forward to see how the precinct itself turns out, the ride is pretty stock.
  16. ^I agree it's rough at the best of times, but it was far rougher than usual the last time I rode it.
  17. And continuing the riveting discussion on Doomsgay Destroyer: has anyone noticed that Arkham Asylum has become super rough lately (or has it been that way for a while?). The difference between just after Christmas and a few weeks ago was quite considerable, it was rather violent. Oh well, in the not-too-distant future we'll all be too busy riding the giga coaster to worry about riding anything else. So are the supports of DD fully erect now?
  18. I actually watched Wyrmwood after last years event, it was quite good. I hear rumblings about 6 mazes this year, but I guess we'll see.
  19. ^Or better still, admission includes all food and drink and merchandise in the park.
  20. An Expedition GeForce or Maverick style coaster would great thanks. Going over to wikipedia page to edit to suit my own coaster preferences...
  21. ^Duelling wacky worms. I'm booking my flight to Caloundra!
  22. I was on the train going over the bridge yesterday, it looked like there was some working going on, but it was hard to tell from that distance. Anyone seen the site up close this week?
  23. A dragon wagon would be a big ride for Aussie World.
  24. ^If only they could afford it. It's ironic my fave coaster at CP is 105 feet tall, but I love the big coasters too. I've been on a few dive coasters, the drops are fun, but not a lot happens otherwise. It's impressive how they've jammed it into that space between Raptor and Millennium Force.
  25. Confused investors: "when you said it would be a XXX park, we thought you were talking about the Vin Diesel movie".
