  1. Lemon Chill guy says no coaster in the area being worked on now, but there will be an Intamin ride there. Looking at their catalogue they have a Spinning Star ride (i.e. star flyer) that they spec as up to 122 metres. Like I said that's just the Lemon Chill guy talking - he probably knows about as much as churro cart Nostradamus. If we take RCDB as gospel, the coaster is steel, sit down, and extreme. Given what they classify as extreme there it's quite broad, Abyss is classed as extreme.
  2. Yeah Menzies was flying the RMC and Intamin guys around, "ok guys, I'll have one yours here, and one of yours there, and...ah screw throw one of each in the waterpark too". Now I'm thinking of the helicopter flying boss from Jurassic World.
  3. ^They're not year round, though the rumour is that the old House of Horrors at Uni will be re-invented as a year round Walking Dead walk-through that will debut with Halloween Horror Nights. The entry will be where the exit for House of Horrors used to be. I've seen some good year round walk throughs, Liseberg and Gronalund spring to mind - though they are upcharges. House of Horrors at Universal was OK, though it was always very light on for Scare actors whenever I did it. Luna Park is very good, and Movieland studios in Italy is pretty good too.
  4. ^^It will be a 500 foot star flyer and a Dragon Wagon themed to Churros.
  5. ^I've been thinking that's a possibility for a while. I don't recall the "world's best" moniker being attached specifically to a coaster, happy to be corrected on that one.
  6. "Churro World", it's going to be a complete re-theme of the park. The new tag line: "Mexico on the Gold Coast". Ariba ariba...
  7. I hope he was just reaching down for something, and is OK. Maybe he got blinded by all the camera flashes from coaster enthusiast photographers and fell over.
  8. We should have a competition to see what people can do with that space in Nolimits, don't forget superimpose in the angry neighbours. Extra points for maximised churro theming.
  9. What, we're getting Leviathan clone? Steel Dragon Wagon is going in the parking lot, making a fast turn in Logan and then heading back to the park.
  10. ^I had a look at what RCDB classes as "extreme" and it's quite broad, so I doubt they know something we don't there. The mention of "steel" is interesting, that fact has not been confirmed publicly as far as I know.
  11. ^I just checked RCDB, they just list it as a rollercoaster, no mention of Mack. I've found with RCDB, details don't go up until they are confirmed facts. Three interesting aspects are they identify the coaster as steel, sit down and most tamtalisingly: "extreme". Anyway, the Churro Death Cart Coaster will add a nice Mexican flavour to the park. Soon, we'll know.
  12. ^Personally, I don't care, but differentiating an attraction in the non-coaster fan's eyes (i.e. the majority of park guests) is another story. On that basis, I'dvbe surprised.
  13. It's not allowed to be "world's best" unless Intamin or RMC, jumps up and down and starts crying. Running with this Mack hypothesis for a moment, Mack's best coasters are their launched ones like Helix and Blue Fire. I'd be surprised if they put another launched coaster (yummy, another upcharge, er I mean, locker fee ride). But I guess Mack like any manufacturer they can build anything bespoke if a park is willing to pay for it. Still waiting for the actual announcement (World's best dragon wagon, coming to movie world this summer).
  14. ^It's a fantastic attraction, I was so pleasantly surprised. As far as capacity goes, they might need to tweak that unless they don't mind serious waits. Perhaps have a group in the first room while another group is going through, and see if they can squeeze six into a group, or at least to make an effort get five in a group. Last time I was there, if there was 3 in a group they didn't bother trying to find a pair (they only did this if there was 2 on their own going in). This is a great example of a small addition that can add enormous value to the experience at the park.
  15. Yeah, plenty of scope for epic failure there. Do like La Ronde: get all the people off the train, out the exit, wait a little longer just to be annoying and then open the air gates. Now LaRonde is a crazy place - you have a B & M invert, so you go out and get a 2nd hand Vekoma SLC (BTW took an hour to get on with a gold q-bot on moderate crowd day).
  16. A zipper and a Falling Star would be good (realistic) additions to Luna Park, and maybe a Round-up as well. I can remember the original Luna Park just before the fire, at the front there was a Round-up on the harbour side and a zipper on the cliff side. A narrow-footprint Morgan mini-hyper would good, squeezed in against the cliff line - but I'm just dreaming there. Some rich people won't let that happen. Get RMC to re-do the wild mouse LOL.
  17. I went with a local mate just after Christmas, and we decided to splurge on fast passes (I've never done FP at Movie World, excluding Ultimate Tour at Halloween). He was shocked at how much we got done. But mostly they all go there to hang out and aren't as focussed on riding. Ha, if the new world's best rollercoaster is a B & M, that will be a serious people eater.
  18. Fuji-Queue is one of the most daunting challenges in the world of coaster enthusiasm, only one step up from getting a ride on Orphan Rocker. Having a great day where you get a good number of rides is the stuff of legend. I hope you get one of those days when you go back. Personally, I'm torn on this place. The coasters and Horror Hospital are of great interest to me, but getting a ride on anything sounds super hard - though the fast passes they have now might help.
  19. ^But it was fun trying to stay on that postage stamp sized mat, and that rapids one - I had no idea when I was supposed to stay or go - my donut was a little flat so I kept getting stuck.
  20. Went there yesterday, Kraken was a lot of fun, ha it's good fitness going up that steep hill. Looked like a very busy day. Kraken was an hour wait I hear, we did the fast pass, so nil or minimal wait. On the whole the slides were all fun - the slide with the tiny mats was hilarious trying to stay on, and fast. Abyss is a really good coaster, though some seats and rows are better than others. A nice little park, with some really good attractions.
  21. In the US, a lot of parks have shows that only run during their Halloween events, so shows that have a 6-8 week run aren't unheard of. And they don't have to be complicated, not even involving stunts, might work. Magic shows, character shows - families might be happy to sit down for a half an hour and watch balloon animals get made...all kinds of possibilities, though I don't know what the appetite is at management level - is customer satisfaction scores linked to their KPIs and bonus?
  22. I went the say after boxing day, quite possibly the first time I've been on a "peak" day. The lines at their worst that I was able to observe were 90 mins for Scooby and Superman, 45 mins for Justice league, probably about the same for Green Lantern. The bottom line, as observed in this thread, is MW simply need more attractions. I don't know what their cap is for when they put up the "park full" sign, if they have one, but it sounds like a hellish customer experience isn't one of the considerations. Perhaps adding some shows (or maybe walk-throughs like the Potter and Matrix ones) only for peak times might be one way of adding capacity, kind of in the same way some parks add temporary rides during summer. Disclaimer: I purchased the fast pass and had a very good day, braces self for flames.
  23. ^I think $35 is a bargain. So did my mate who used to work there.
  24. You couldn't before, I'm going on Sunday and originally the website had you had to get them at the park first in best dressed. And then I went back the other week when it came time to buy a ticket and it was great - I can buy online.
  25. I'm going there on the 17th, got the fastpass, and going with a local mate who used to work there. Should be a good day. The back pack thing looks like a good idea for Kraken.
