  1. @joel There's a guy on Gold Coast Weather & News Facebook site saying you are full of poo poo. His saying he worked at DW for 10 years and the unload area had a E-Stop.
  2. Should theme parks carry out emergency drills? Does VRTP carry out emergency drills?
  3. The only thing Ardent was proactive in was squeezing the life out of DW and lining their pockets.
  4. Remember, you choose to join it.😛
  5. “At an inquest at the Southport Coroners Court yesterday, Ms Williams described the build-up to the tragedy. Believing the ride had malfunctioned when she was unable to open a gate to release a raft into the unloading area, she'd attempted to get the attention of main ride operator Peter Nemeth. When Mr Nemeth did look her way, she said his face "completely dropped" when he saw the raft containing the six people about to collide with a raft that had become stranded on the conveyor belt due to dramatically lowered water levels following a pump failure”. Does the gate not opening mean Mr Nemeth had already started the emergency stop prior to Ms Williams realising what was going on? Would this back up Mr Nemeth statement that he tried to stop the ride before the collision? Could it be the ride not stopping instantly sent Mr Nemeth into the panic?
  6. I'm in the wrong place. I thought this was the nuthouse.
  7. @Brad2912 if @razza1987 is buying a car, a car joke is in order. Two blondes were driving to Disneyland. The sign said, "Disneyland Left". So they started crying and went home.
  8. You can cash them in at the Funhouse. TTPSN is the code word you need.
  9. ?????????????????????The button at the conveyer belt I will say it again - The button at the conveyor belt. The button at the conveyer beltThe button at the conveyer belt
  10. @AlexB @AlexB @AlexB breath. You're asking stupid questions that you already know the answer. A child dies there's going to be a coroner's report. Have I read the report? No. Have I seen the report? No. I was told by an officer after the investigation concluded. Statements like mine are in relation to this topic and not to joe blow walking down the street. You', my friend, are dissecting my thoughts on how a theme park First Aid should run and turning it into how Joe would/should react in the street. Just for you Alex. SKEET SAY "IF YOU SEE JOE OR HIS SON REQUIRING FIRST AID YOU SHOULD RENDER ASSISTANCE". We need to move on - If it turns out DW don't have enough people to respond to a medical emergency to offer First Aid in the correct time frame, don't give this responsibility to a ride operator. Next time you check what jobs are going at DW and you see nurses wanted, check out what experience is required. Heads up, it's not a one-day first aid course. If one nurse/first responder isn't enough to respond in an emergency than DW need to hire 2 and if 2 isn't enough DW needs to hire 3. Instead of the operator doing a one-day first aid the operator can spend they the day doing the emergency shut down procedures and you wouldn't even need the first responders.
  11. Of course nobody on scene told the father he just killed his child. (and no it wasn't a drowning) For the record Alex I'm not telling people to not perform CPR because you might kill them. (All I said was you can kill them if done incorrectly) You're missing the point. DW have staff that are fully trained to preform CPR, but you want somebody who has never performed it before to preform it on a child inside a pressure cooker for the first time. As i said the ride operator who has now shut down is not the person you want performing CPR.
  12. @AlexB said you can't kill someone. Is a baby someone @Brad2912?
  13. @Brad2912 I don't thing people are getting my point. You have a person who is already panicked and under extreme pressure fumbling task his has done for years and you want to add the extra pressure of which CPR technique to use when he can’t even remember which button to push. Are you saying if a baby at DW requires CPR a First Aid trained ride attendant won't preform CPR because it's a baby?
  14. They're talking about the second button on top of the hill. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. I’ve been volunteer for marine rescue since I was 18 and in the last 6 years a first responder for marine rescue trained by the Queensland ambulance & QUT. I went to a job 4 years ago where a father’s CPR killed his baby while he performed CPR.
  15. Unless the person administrating CPR blows the patient’s lungs out, which I have seen happen.
  16. Let's be honest here. Somebody who completes a basic First Aid course 4 year ago and never puts it into practice is going to be shit at it in an emergency.
  17. It only suggest it because we would expect for the unload to have an E-Stop. " A memo was sent to staff less than a week before the incident advising only to use the second e-stop button if the "main control panel cannot be reached" suggest to me it's quicker to get to the control panel. I would read that as: You go to the main control panel unless for some reason like the control panel area is on fire then you go for the second E-Stop.
  18. For people trying to picture the distance from the unload to @joelE-Stop. I have circled it in red.
  19. For the record, that is 1 person who said that. If you singled them out I would have agreed but your post was open.
  20. Does your 5 sec included jumping the barrier? How much of that 15 mins training do you think was spent on how to shut down the ride in an emergency? Not true @webslave We are talking about it as it comes out. Of course we're not making any final conclusions about it.
  21. What I posted doesn't say it was operators 2 fault because she didn't press the button. Can you post what you are reading that says it was operator 2 fault because she didn't press the button @joel Operators were told "not to worry about that button (the second e-stop) [because] no one uses it." A memo was sent to staff less than a week before the incident advising only to use the second e-stop button if the "main control panel cannot be reached. Correct me if I'm wrong anybody but I believe most people believe DW crap E-stop setup up caused the issues. The use of the E-Stop buttons was ambiguous and gave no clear direction on what to do in an emergency. You should never ask people to make decisions during an emergency. Don’t forget it would not have got to the situation that a button was needed to be pushed if the ride had a water level sensor or a sensor at the end of the lift hill.
