Who will be the new Dreamworld CEO?
Spotty replied to TheMightyBoosh's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah, I don't have a problem with the attraction, having been on it myself before. It was just a poorly made decision for that time. Lets just hope the new CEO has his head screwed on. I say bring John Longhurst or Tony Braxton Smith back! -

I actually don't think FlowRider was THAT bad of an addition... It brings in some extra profit for the park, but it would have been much better suited for WhiteWater World. I reckon they should make the entry to FlowRider inside WhiteWater World with the addition of a WaveLoch attraction. Steve Peet could be an interesting replacement for Stephen Gregg, he seemed to have his head screwed on with a say in Superman: Escape, SurfRider and Batwing Spaceshot. And as previous people have said we need someone that isn't afraid to spend money on the park, maintaning it for this generation and the next generation. As someone once said "Sometimes you need to spend money to make money" -

Yeah I was thinking that too... But still Kevin Bradley knew what he was doing... Maybe they should get Tony Braxton Smith back I know he brought the Cyclone... but we can forgive him for that one I think -

OMG... Please tell me it's true! I'm sorry but his recent decisions with the park have been rather poor ones. I mean the Claw was good and so was White Water World etc. But things like the Flowrider could have been done alot better. Personally I would have liked to see Kevin Bradley take the reigns (the ex COO who was made redundant a month or so again) He was a really nice guy and seemed to have his head screwed on. -
Hmmm... I never thought of it like that Gazza, but it raises a very valid point. It would be good if someone was able to do some delving into why it was closed. It sucks because the only real dark ride we have left in Australia would be Bermuda Triangle (not including little ghost trains like at Luna Park) And we need something to fill the void. There has also been rumors for quite a while about a 3rd Gremlins Movie, so if that does happen I'd love to see Movie World re-incarnate this family classic.

I don't think a Vekoma Pandora's Box has ever been made. I always thought that one of these could be themed very nicely to the Matrix Films.

It would have to have been my favorite ride as a Kid, followed closely by Bermuda Triangle. I mean I love the Spooky Coaster, but I still find it a bit sad that they replaced the Gremlins Ride. I had very fond memories of it and even Beetlejuice was hidden inside the ride. I was so happy when I had my orientation down there at Christmas time because our training was in one of the old Gremlins cinemas. They are still fully intact inside the buliding. When you are in the main foyer for the Spooky Coaster there is a fire door on the left hand side. Just inside there the whole corridor and cinema's are still intact. It was a major walk down memory lane for me. Even my trainer said "For some of the older members you might remember this hallway from the Great Gremlin's Adventure Ride" and I just said "Hey... i'm not that old!" Ah... good times. Daniel "Thought it was funny that during my Evacuation Drill training, that the Spooky Coaster had to be evacuated" Harmer

I felt the same way about the mummy... The theming is AMAZING, but I didn't really encounter many actors. But I couldn't help but laugh at the person that randomly screamed "DEATH" at me. And just a warning... if the line is much out of the door there will be around a 30 minute wait as the line actually goes inside the building for 3 switchbacks. Overall I thought it was a step down from Nightmares as far as the "scare factor" goes... but the theming was just amazing. As far as all the scare attractions go this is how i'd rank them overall... Tomb Raider: ENTER THE TOMB, Nightmares: Angoscia, Nightmares: Freezer and The Mummy

What do you expect? It's made by our Italian friends at Pinfari

Would have been Jennie Pell's "Python Loop" that is owned by Show West.
-
Hmm... I wonder if year pass holders can also get in at 9:00am?

They wouldn't require a cable tow to bring the ride back into the station. What you would have seen is commonly refered to as a "drive trip" Basically the computer looses track of the pod and shuts down the launch mechanisim. The ride slows down to a stop and then the operator has to manually activate the ride and bring it back slowly into the station. This is all done by the magnets and not by a winch. If there is no power to do this however the mechanics would normally have to push the car back into the station.

Buying a World Pass + the Take Two Pass
Spotty replied to WalleyWorld's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Lol, dreamworld VERY rarley asks to see your receipt when buying the Take Two pass. So you should be okay. -
I don't even think The Claw COULD get stuck in mid air, but who knows Anyway basically it brakes really quickly and you are at ground level from top height in around 4 swings... it is very intense as the ring stops spinning and yeah... after that it just requires a re-set.
-
E-Stops are painful! God Damn the ride stops quickly when it's at full swing and that happens!
-
Lol, it's happened to me many times... Actually i've probably been stuck on every ride at Dreamworld at least once. Lotl_90's explanation pretty much sums up the reasons for it.
-
Oh okay then, i'm hearing conflicting stories... that or i'm half asleep!
-
From what I've been told it's no longer "The Mummy" But actually Tomb Raider... any of the older members should remember that one

The Official Jet Rescue construction thread
Spotty replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah, was there on the weekend also... was going to get some pics but I didn't really see the point as there was nothing new to update. -
Various people have posted remarks about the lethal weapon and the "motors." As it has been basically proven it would not be feasable to attach the motors to the ride and I can 100% assure you that there are no such motors on the ride. There are friction wheels leading back to the maintenence depot and there is just no need for them. There have even been pictures that show that the motors do not exist. Myth Busted.
-
Klassen24, I'm really not trying to sound rude here. But I can confirm right now that Lethal Weapon and any other Vekoma SLC does NOT have motors attached to the "Zero Car" at the rear of the train. Having watched lethal weapon do a train transfer many times before, you can clearly see that the friction wheels in the station reverse to allow the train to move backwards into the maintenance bay. The track rotates 180 degrees so that the transfer section above the track attaches and diverts the train locked down into the station backwards. There are friction wheels attached to the maintenance bay as well as one attached to the transfer section I believe. This would be adequate to power the train enough to make the short reverse trip. Gazza's photo in the previous post would also back up the fact that there are no motors attached to the zero car. His other post would also explain what the Zero Car is for so I don't see the point in explaining that one again. Once again I'm not trying to sound rude here but just answering your questions in regards to the Lethal Weapon.

I've never really found WhiteWater World to be a rip off. Yeah it's smaller than Wet n Wild but I much prefer there attractions. Sure Wet n Wild have a few things WhiteWater World don't have, such as SurfRider etc. But that doesn't mean they are a rip off as such.

What would you do if 'you' owned or managed DW?
Spotty replied to skystar_a320's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Ah okay, I could have sworn it came up from maintenance earlier... But lol, working in the Food industry basically means you live under a rock! Daniel "We need some more Filet o Fish!" Harmer -
And to be honest, if all park staff ANYWHERE were not trained like that I would be slightly worried...
