  1. Someones Getting warmer. Also.. @ ThemeParksAustralia When were these two days that it was running? Im just wondering considering I am in that general area quite regularly, have been for some time and havent seen/heard a thing.
  2. Dreamworld and Whitewater World are extremely similar. Most of it is coneyed in a way that is relevant to the individual department staff that are at that particular session (eg. What to do when working in a retail outlet if an evacuation is ordered, or when working on a ride etc.) So that each little aspect of the park does its part to help out the procedures, making for less problem. This is done in such a way that it reduces stress to staff and guests, therefore again, making the procedure smoother. Another thing that helps is the fast reaction times of supervising/senior staff at DW/WWW. The moment an emergency is announced via 2-way etc, anyone who is available runs to attend. Its been shown recently with ride breakdowns (rapids for example) and medical incidents. Just these little displays of quick thinking and confidence show that something like an evacuation would be handled quickly, easily and with minimal disruption. As for the animals, that would be a little bit of a pain in the rectal region, but im sure there are contingency plans in place. Annoyingly difficult though im sure.
  3. Adding to what Nev said, Dreamworld Staff are all trained on their compulsory company induction day on what measures to take in the case of an emergency or evacuation, and a compulsory Fire Training course has to be done by ALL staff once a year as part of their ongoing training programs, as im sure is the same with all other theme parks and major establishments. (correct me if im wrong..) If a situation was to arise at Dreamworld, like a fire, staff would know how to react appropriately, and even if they arent sure, there is bound to be someone around who can look at a safety map and see where to evacuate to and wait for instruction. Its an easy process and im sure that if a situation ever arose it would be dealt with efficiently enough to get anyone out of the way of harm with minimal fuss. Because of all of this its extremely unlikely that Dreamworld will cease trading until, if at all, a situation like this comes up.
  4. Quite possibly do. I remembered song titles for most of those and knew the artist for quite a few, but that was about it, and I wasnt particularly worried about extended titles. As for the Kung Fu Fighting Mix Everything ive got has It labelled as Fatboy Slim. But if it is Bus Stop (feat. Carl Douglas and Daz Simpson), I stand corrected. The Flowrider CD hasnt been changed in a while, and yes, quite right, after a while it gets tedious, but its a longer loop which makes it more bearable than Main St. which is only like a 55 min loop. I remember one day where I was around for 7 hours and heard 'Walkin On Broken Glass - Annie Lennox ft. Eurythmics' 8 times. Painful.
  5. Personally Id Rather see them spend this years Magic 6.5 mil on cleaning up the park and fixing up the areas that are abysmal in appearance or otherwise derelict, than trying to extend or add anything else. I know there are plans in action to add another attraction this year, but I hope that it is postponed in order for a much needed clean up to happen.
  6. In an attempt to answer the original question.. Heres the few that I can remember off the top of my head. Wipeout - Beach Boys & Fatboys Better Than - John Butler Trio Daniella - John Butler Trio Shoe Shine Remix - The Gorillaz Self Esteem - The Offspring Canned Heat - Jamiroquai Peaches - Presidents of the USA Kung Fu Fighting (Techno Mix) - Fatboy Slim Ehh Ill add more as I hear or remember them.
  7. When I did my work experience there quite a while ago, they only offered you a WE position in one operation dept, whether that be retail (merch or photographics), f&b, or Ent. and Attractions, and the placement was for one week. My Understanding now though, is that the work experience course has become more structured, and that you are set to a program similar to that of the person above, although it may differ with other departmental inclusions like retail etc. I am yet to hear of anyone who has managed to get a WE placement in depts. like Sales and Marketing or PR etc. Best bet would be to drop an email to HR @ Dreamworld and ask what sorts of programs are available.
  8. That Huge Expanse of Gravel is actually Dreamworlds overflow carpark. Obviously no one is parked down there during the show season but essentially, thats what it is.
  9. Just a nice cunning way to boost online sales.
  10. Guys, (and gals?) To put it simply.. The mine ride will not be re-opening anytime soon, if at all. There were undoubtedly problems with the ride that led to it being closed, a lot of which im sure Dreamworld is not willing to have released to the public. Also, as Bikerman has already said, the ride system has been disconnected, not saying it couldnt be reconnected in the future, but its unlikely. The 'construction noises' that have been heard are probably just the noises of workers enclosing the ride queue area which, as I have previously said, is now storage.
  11. Somewhat in the same way that Dreamworld and Whitewater World staff get discounts for AMF. Nothing quite like a good ML Emplyee Discount card lol.
  12. @ www worker.. Im sorry mate, but to me nothing you are saying is really making sense.
  13. All I can say is that that is a load of garbage. The whole queue line area of that ride has been enclosed and turned into storage space. I was there this morning, very early and I guarentee that there were NO launches of the mine ride. Also, no department managers/admin were in today, its a Sunday, and the only people that you would find close would be the supervisors of the operating departments. And the final flaw to that story, if you were seeing your manager, why the heck would you exit through DW and not security gatehouse? Not to mention the staff areas are nowhere near Gold Rush Country.
  14. Its a good change. Much more engaging than the old website. Much cleaner. Hopefully just the first step towards cleaning the whole image up.
  15. Yeh $7 is what they all were before WWW opened. Then the Prices in Dreamworl went up to $8 to match what they were doing in the waterpark. Definitely $8 for the smaller ones and im sure its $12 for the larger ones (at least it is in Dreamworld).
  16. No. Dreamworld has two locker sizes. I know that for a fact. The only lockers I have used at WWW have been the set at the World Gate and the Set near Pipeline Plunge, which are all the $8 size. I could never be bothered fighting over near GS. I never have seen large lockers down there but ive been told several times since my last post that they do exist. The wristbands are definitely the more popular way to go with the lockers down in WWW, they are much much simpler, and it doesnt cost you any extra. There are more problems with the other ones. But yes, the $8 locker seems the way to go.
  17. As far as I know, In WWW all of the lockers are one size, and they are quite large. I fit a moderately sized backpack (full), my friends handbag, three pairs of shoes and some other crap. For a full day, locker hire is $8. You pay at Guest Services and they will issue you with a wristband which is your locker key. Hope that answers your Q.
  18. They are obviously making some profit out of it, and I never said anything against that idea. I dont believe it is as much as most would expect. Individual departments in most cases would be funding themselves, and as the Tiger experiences are a tiger island product, presumably it is going to them. With the photos in mind, yes, they do print hundreds (or thousands) of photos on a daily basis, and the cost would be in cents, I was merely adding that into the mix. Tiger photos arent printed on the same system as ride photos though, so its a different pricing system. (Still, doesnt cost a lot though..)
  19. I know, i wasnt disputing that. Only the comment that Dreamworld is profiting a lot out of it. And $495 is only for the photo session, which is a 15 min experience. The 1 hour walk is $795. So even less value.
  20. Bizzare as it may seem, Dreamworld actually doesnt profit much out of the Tiger Photo Bookings at all. A significant amount of the money gets put into accounts and is used to fund several Tiger Conservation organisations and Projects all over the world. Money is also used to pay for the Photographics Prints and Frame (Which isnt really cheap) and The tiger island book (which.. I know can be bought in the shop for like 6.95). So yeh, when they are donating around $20,000 on Average, every six months to ONE organisation, as well as several other projects, the money has to come from somewhere and doesnt go too far. End Rant.
  21. No its not still an eating area. The 'Fried Frogs/Pot a Chook' Carnival game has been moved from Nick Central up to that area so that they can still maintain operations in poor weather. They put in a fence and stuff and it actually looks like they intend to keep it there for a while. As for developments on the ride itself, nothing.
  22. I know for a fact that the inside of the house has been been stripped. The external structure has stayed the same for quite some time though.
