  1. I have tickets available for tomorrow afternoons Fright Night preview. Please private message me if you want.
  2. A good source for theme park accidents (in the USA) is this link http://www.themeparkinsider.com/accidents/ Im not sure what Tracey is trying to acheive by going to the media though
  3. http://www.mydailynews.com.au/story/2011/09/13/paralympian-movie-world-embarrassment/ A PARALYMPIC gold medallist and Order of Australia recipient has been left feeling humiliated after she was denied access to all rides at Movie World last week. But the theme park said a change in safety policies meant the mother of two was not allowed on any ride that moved. Ms Tracy Barrell attended the theme park as recently as two years ago and was not denied access to any of the amusements or rides. At the time of her last visit she was given an individual assessment. "The lady tested my grip strength and stability and gave me a white band that allowed me to access the rides," she said. Ms Barrell said she wanted to know why she was not informed the she may not be able to access the rides until she was about to board the Road Runner Rollercoaster. "I purchased a VIP pass for myself and my two children, so I had made it through ticketing and turnstiles and had my photo taken and sat through a 4D show," she said. "It was not until I was at the front of the queue and about to take my turn on the ride that it was suggested there was a problem." Ms Barrell said she was then forced to "bulge her way back through the queue" to leave the ride. Operations park supervisor Cameron McKay said he received a call mid-morning about a guest queuing for a ride, before he requested she come to guest services for assessment. "Tracy had to work her way back through the queue because it is just the design of the attraction," Mr McKay said. Mr McKay said an incident in the United States, where a double amputee was killed after being thrown from a lap-bar roller coaster, had caused theme parks to review their policies. "I explained there were lots of other shows and motionless attractions that she could access," Mr McKay said. Ms Barrell said she didn't think it was fair one incident had affected policy in theme parks worldwide. "One disabled man is killed and that changes things for all disabled people," she said. "Able-body people are killed and injured on rollercoasters all the time, but able-bodied people are still allowed to ride." Mr Cameron refunded half the cost of Ms Barrell's VIP pass so she could still accompany her children to the park. Ms Barrell said she just wanted to be able to enjoy the rides like everybody else. I havnt included her photo in this post but you can get it on the link. I feel sorry for Ms Barrell but can totally see where Movie World are coming from. I think they did the right thing refunding half her VIP pass, but by doing it they may open thr floodgates to other guests who may have a disability who cannot ride some or all of the rides. If I have motion sickness and cannot ride the rides should I get a discount ? The comments on the link seem to fall on both side of the argument as well. What are your thoughts ?
  4. I promised video but I can't deliver. I've run out of time tonight. I'll post some pictures tomorrow night of the floats. Nate
  5. Parkz media call at Seaworld This morning I attended the media call with the outsiders and channel 9 at Seaworld.. Full video of thr event will be uploaded late tonight so stay tuned. Michael Croaker Director of Operations was our host for the morning. Launching in December is the Spongebob Squarepants parade. Each of the characters in the spongebob universe will be shown in a "narrative" The main stadium will be the area that comes to life everyday. Rather than just using the space directly in front of the stadium, the lake will come to life as well. The central island will become a replica of Bikini bottom and the lake will be installed with high pressure water jets, fountains and geysers. So rather than just a linear parade it will be an immersive experience. Bubble machines installed on the top of the stadium will fill the space. There will be 5-6 floats all with intricate moving pieces. For instance , the Plankton float has 13 different moving parts. All floats are independantly driven by an operator inside each and the total parade will use around 30 staff each day. There will be oportunities for guests to interact with the Spongebob Squarepants characters during the parade. Dora the Explorer and Diego will be taking over thr Sesame Street stage which will be rethemed to match that show. There are no plans to remove sesame street beach. Seaworld resort will be receiving the Spongebob Squarepants aqua playground which will feature a 10 minute show each night . Seaworld resort will also have character meet and greets In my opinion this sounds like an amazing addition to Seaworld and after speaking with Michael he is passionate about creating new experiences for guests. He would not comment on Bermuda Triangle or its planned replacement. Thanks to Seaworld and VRTP for hosting Parkz this morning and stay tuned for video late tonight.
  6. Tickets Available I have more tickets available for the Fright Nights preview this Wednesday at 415pm Registrations open 8pm tonight. If you want a ticket please private message me from 8. Registration is open to all Parkz members. Nathan.
  7. Haha, I will submit those questions beforehand but don't know how much luck of an answer we will get. They will want to focus on the Nick announcement. Bermuda Triangle is closed for good with no plans in place to replace it at this stage.
  8. Parkz will be visiting Seaworld early tomorrow morning for a a sneak peek of the parade and Nickelodeon characters. Also, Michael Croaker – Sea World Director of Operations will be taking questions. If I get the oportunity, are their any burning questions Parkz members would like to ask Michael? Nathan
  9. And a lot of attendees there will be... VRTP have definitly reached out to the Facebook fan pages with this event it should be an interesting night. I.have received a few messages here requesting tickets. The only fair way I can allocate the Parkz allocation is per my previous post. Send me a private message from 4pm Friday requesting a ticket. One per active member. Sorry if this does not fit with peoples schedules but I have to do this somehow. Given the amount of people invited to this event VRTP might be heading down a road where preview events for the fans may become the norm. This probably won't be the last chance you get to secure tickets to a preview event Nathan
  10. The secrets out. On the night lucky guests will experience 2 mazes! The SAW maze and the brand new ARKHAM ASYLUM.
  11. My thoughts exactly. Joz and hk... Let's just have a good night and make sure this is the first of many.
  12. haha Gazza - I was more commenting that the ride is boring and it is exactly what I was expecting to see. Randy inferred from his post that the video was more exciting from that point onwards. I was commenting that even though the ride was in motion, it was just as boring. Nathan
  13. Ahh it's not that bad. I'm sure that you and Brad will be on best behaviour as will the Parkz members who attend. The Outsiders have had their own negotiations with VRTP in the lead up to this event and the allocation of tickets given to the Outsiders do not affect the Parkz qouta. It may be a little awkward for 2 minutes at the beginning but those that attend are there to have a good time, and I'm sure that you guys will be feeling the same way. I know that if I am able to attend I will be there to have an awesome time. I think we should focus on the positive outcomes here. VRTP are reaching out to Parkz by offering these events, regardless of whether other groups have negotiated to be involved or not. This is a good move for Parkz and is a step in a great direction towards creating more events for members to participate in. Parkz already has a a great "media" relationship with the Parks, and this new "event" relationship has to start somewhere. Looking forward to meeting the brains behind Outsiders Harrison. Hopefully I'll see you there. Nathan
  14. Fixed now. Thanks man. Wednesday 14th September is the correct date
  15. FRIGHT NIGHTS PREVIEW Wednesday 14th September 2011 415pm-530pm SAW MAZE PREVIEW PLUS A SPECIAL SURPRISE You WILL be filmed at this event and by attending you waive all rights to the usage of the footage. If you register for this event, you must ensure that you will attend. VRTP are being very generous to Parkz and I don't want these limited places to go to waste. Due to the extremely limited spaces this first event is for Active Parkz members only. At this stage I will take interest from everyone, but ultimatly it is Active Parkz members who will receive first preference. Registration will open Friday at 4pm for active members only (limit one pass per member) you need to send me a private message from 4pm (EST) in order to register your interest. If spaces remain open at this preview I will post here on Sunday night at 8pm. The first respondants will recieve one ticket each. This is the first event with VRTP and places are limited for a reason. I hope that there will be more events to come in the coming months so don't be to disheartened if you miss out this time around. If you have already sent me an email you will need to send a new one at your specified registration time. You will be notified by return email if you are succesful. Nathan
  16. Good find Um.. I fast forwarded to 3:31 and watched the remainder of the video and its still pretty boring.
  17. Not yet spotty. As soon as I hear I guarantee ill post here. Nathan
  18. Could this be a move to retheme the whole of gold rush to a ghost town type theming? Maybe they do have a future plan for the mine ride footprint which would benefit from an early area retheme ?
  19. Thanks everyone for your interest. I have recieved advice from VRTP that this preview will now take place mid-September. Not all of the effects will be in place prior to this date, so VRTP will be in touch with the confirmed dates within the next couple of weeks. Thanks to all who are interested and who have pre-registered. I will update in this thread once we have further confirmation. Nate
  20. Sorry, I can see how yiu could mis read what I posted. When I said there were no immediate plans for replacements I meant that both these rides are indeed closed for good, VRTP are not planning on replacing them any time soon. Hope this clears this up.
  21. No ripcurl, as soon as I have it ill update Here and send the info to everyone. It will most likely be an afternoon session (430) on a weekday probably late this week. I won't have confirmation of this til I hear back from VRTP. Obviously Movie World need to clear this preview through multiple departments (show and ent, wardrobe, security ) so I'm not sure how much notice we will end up getting. Nate
  22. Hey Troy, Movie World are on track for the opening of the new attraction in time for Christmas holidays. So although its close to 2012, they are still going to get it in in time for the holidays. When I recieved confirmation of the date for the Fright Night previews I will reconfirm this info for you and see if they will release more infomation. At this stage Movie World have told us to stand by for an announcement within the next few weeks.
  23. I love this ! Dreamworld is impressing me with this campaign so far. Looks incredible and they should be congratulated for going that extra mile with Buzzsaw.
  24. Awesome idea for a thread! Was just coming by to post about Leviathan, and saw this thread. Leviathan looks A.M.A.Z.I.N.G . It makes a trip to Canada seem even more crucial to my life. You can follow constuction at http://www.leviathan.canadaswonderland.com/ I love that the overseas parks tend to announce coasters and release a lot of info even before it begins construction!! Makes me wish our parks did the same...
