  1. Boxing Day is the busiest day of the year (certainly for Wet'n'Wild) and the week after will be just as bad. New Year's Day is often a little bit quieter, mostly because no one likes a hangover. If there's any chance you can come on Christmas Eve though I would seriously recommend it, as it tend to be a little bit less busy.
  2. I was there on Monday...and there was no fog to speak of. The green lasers were working beautifully but the red one definitely wasn't. All I saw was a red light above the final drop, not a laser. I was paying a fair bit of attention to the 8 year old we went on with though. Apparently Scooby is "freaky!"
  3. Alex B, I know you doubt me but I have mentioned this when talking to other staff, who have been ride attendants. Unless they're all having me on, I'm pretty sure it's correct. I don't see it costing that much to have the roof retractable. It's only necessary in the main room which is far smaller than a stadium. As all construction is done in-house there are no labour costs except for consistent wages. Is it possible you're exaggerating the actual cost. Perhaps the roof was originally designed for the gremlins ride?
  4. Just a theory (which could of course be wrong) about why the smoke is gone. My training for WVTP took place in one of the seminar rooms in the scooby building (bet you didn't know their were auditoriums in there!). On the way through our trainer was telling us about the scooby ride and he mentioned that if there's a fire the whole roof retracts to let the smoke out. I would imagine that this would be an automatic thing for safety reasons. It could just be that the fire alarms were mucking up? Maybe? Unfortunately I'm not in ops so I don't know for sure. I do have a friend who used to do ride attending though. I'll try to ask her.
  5. John Menzies definitely told us that it was going between corckscrew and Bermuda. Didn't the train cross across the park just north of sesame street beach? I'm pretty sure it's around the same place.
  6. I highly doubt it. WVTP treat their staff better than any other company I've worked for. There will certainly be more jobs created (Food and Beverage, Retail, Ride Attendants and Cleaners etc) to cover the new areas. But I can't imagine they would fire already qualified staff who have first hand knowledge of the zoo. It would be pointless having to train new people. If anything those already there may be promoted to senior level, so that they can train the new employees.
  7. sitting on a jet ski was certainly what was suggested by John Menzies at the employee ball at the beginning of the year. RE: Tornado/Green Room - I seem to have been proven wrong, soz. Although when I first went for my interview to work for WVTP in (approx) October 2005, we were shown a video of the tornado and told it would be an upcoming attraction. This must've been planned for at least a few months previously.
  8. hmm??? Dreamworld getting angry about Seaworld "cloning" a ride... *cough* Green Room *cough* I still haven't heard anything mentioned about the new ride except for the name, then again I'm only an F&B attendant at WnW. Maybe people at Seaworld know more?
  9. I know that at Wet'n'Wild you're allowed a 10 minute pass out (to get something from the car) which is not going to be long enough to get over to the food on the other side of the freeway. The only way you'd make it is by going through a drive through and then you're not allowed to bring it into the park anyway. It's much easier to just get some food in the park during the day. Also it's the only place around there that you can get Churros...mmm!
  10. Yeah I like Radio H20...They have the right balance between new and old...but sometimes the frequency of some songs is way to high. Like that Britney one...ouch!
  11. I don't want to be a party pooper but having looked at the vekoma page for their motorbike launch coaster, it seems to come with three other themes, a horse, a jetski and what seems to be a cougar. http://www.vekoma.com/index.php?option=com...5&Itemid=13 Why anyone would be riding a cougar is beyond me but my assumption would be that Seawold is just going for the same ride but with the jetski instead of the bike. This would also explain why "Dreamworld is kicking up a stink" that SW is copying" We also know that the ride is going between bermuda and the corkscrew which would suggest a long but narrow layout, which the website clearly shows... Even though I work for WVTP at WNW I only know what we were all told at the ball. I'm fairly confident that I can give a name (since a ride op at MW seems to have already been telling people). We were told "Jet Rescue" I think Jetski Rescue sounds better though While I would love for the ride to go through tunnels under aquariums and the like, I'm not getting my hopes up just yet.
  12. John Menzies definitely said it was part of the $22 million that Village Roadshow was spending on WVTP this year...I'd be expecting an announcement fairly soon.
  13. yes public transport still runs after the movie
  14. I see that ShadowXL was at the Ball last night... I also work for WVTP and also don't want to say to much... I would hate to get in trouble but no this is not SW's next attraction.
