The Wedgie - opening in April - it's official - told you...... -
Parkz News Tower of Terror in reverse?
tipsy_bella replied to Parkz News's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The Tower of Terror is getting the upgrade this year. I believe you will see a new lighter, faster car on the tracks and also the tunnel extended all the way to the uphill section - hopefully with some lighting effects. I'm really not sure and haven't heard anything around the park about the car being placed the other way to launch backward. -
Parkz News WhiteWater World not out of the loop

I can guarantee you - WWW was getting the slides first until Wet n Wild got with WhiteWater West to sign the exclusivity deal. All of the plans and survey work was already completed at WWW before the first deal fell through. WWW then started speaking to Proslide immediately and this slide is now in the pipeline. As far Wet n Wild is being dominant - it is definitely bigger with more attractions but have a completely different target group - teens and thrills and WWW is all about the family. This slide offers thrills for those who are looking for them. Capacity will be bad - i'll admit that but it's still an addition. The whole of phase 2 is still in the pipeline but you all have to understand it is all about the money - which i've said a bzillion times it'll cost 20 million which Ardent do not have at this point. I'd love no more than the next person to see phase 2 started but at least there will be a new addition. The new slide is on target for an easter opening. -

Theme Park Review's Trips Announcements!
tipsy_bella replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It is everything Australia has to offer. Except Magic Mountain is no more. It's great TPR maybe on their way here - I hope though they don't go home disappointed and compare our little but fantastic parks to USA's awesome huge parks. -
Yes, It's a tower toward the front of the park. I think people will enjoy something else to do in the park and offer something a little more thrilling for the older guests. Now in it's third year WWW can do with any type of new attraction for something else to do. It will not be a huge crowd soaker and low capacity which will be it's downfall and also having to share a queue line. In saying that it's fast and exciting. I totally agree with you on the phase 2 section - but if parks don't add new attractions people get upset - simply look at these forums at times - But yes they need to expand outward for a large number soaking attraction. By not using the old thunderbolt site they are saving money. No new pipes, stairwells, amenities, food outlets etc. I would love more than anyone to have the phase 2/3 section going ahead - then it will be a true all day destination. But as I've mentioned before money is the big issue.
-
Not really space but expanding onto a tower so they can use the existing stairwell etc. The slide is coming early this year not September - So you WILL be surprised.
-
Gazza, you are very close - As for evidence, rival 81, around the area of the park where this slide will be placed are footer markings etc on the ground and when you see the development team for new attractions standing in the same place with plans you know something is going to happen. Plus I work at the park and know.
-
WhiteWater World will be receiving a new attraction early this year - like March. Unfortunately though it is not part of phase 2 and even though those plans are still ready to go - money is still the bugbear for stage 2.

Parkz News Wet'n'Wild goes upside down to find new attraction
tipsy_bella replied to Parkz News's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Mickey D - the slide is not a vertical loop - it is slanted. -
I'm sure WWW are going to stick to the expansion but needs $20 million for the project and in the current climate it's coming no time soon. Where as an addition like an Aqua Loop would cost much much less - using existing towers. WWW no doubt in the long run will be a full day destination but I believe Ardent Leisure are happy with it at the moment running off the back of Dreamworld with the World Passes. I personally think this sucks as it was WWW these past holidays that consistently bought in the numbers into the parks and not Dreamworld. Oh well - have to wait and see now.
-
But when you are within a week of signing a contract.....
-
I'd love too, but unfortunately I cannot - you're right though - It doesn't make sense. All I've heard is that the manufacturer had sold an attraction to park 1 and then park 2 said they will buy numerous attractions as long as they do not sell anything to park 1.
-
That is the point of a business and that is the point I'm trying to make, Proslide didn't have a problem selling two tornados to both parks but it seems the aqualoop manufacturer does.
-
Just saying that if a park offers to buy more than one attraction from a manufacturer you would then think that the manufacturer would like to continue to sell the attraction to another park who may not want to buy more than one attraction. Interesting business decisions on behalf both the park and manufacturer.
-
I wouldn't take that for granted. If we (Australia) were, I'm sure the photo would of included Australia. I think you will find the pamphlet was strategically placed for a reason. Perhaps the place who was expecting to get the slide has been undersold rudely by another park on the Gold Coast and the information on the sign is now incorrect.
-
It is not any part of the phase 2 expansion but something completely different. I work at the park and it was announced to some staff. I know what the slide is and where it is going but not going to say anything and let the rumours fly.
-
The new ride you've all been hoping for is happening in WWW in time for easter next year. MTV show is only for the holidays and a crowd soaker - If you don't want to see it when you visit the park then don't go and watch the show.
-
Speaking with some insider knowledge, WWW will be receiving a new ride some time next year. The plans have been drawn up and surveyors have been in park to look at the location. As my previous post, this slide will be going toward the front of the park and something the coast has not seen - Australian first.
-
I think you'll see an addition to WWW - not the entire phase 2 - but will see a slide added toward the front of the park.
-
I'm sorry 'Original' but is it not the first priority of a halloween event is to do the mazes and scare zones instead of rides. Perhaps people on this thread should go and experience the HALLOWEEN EVENT instead of the queues for rides which you can do anytime. Please, someone who went to experience the mazes and the themeing post here instead of people complaining about wait times. IT'S A HALLOWEEN EVENT PEOPLE DO THE MAZES FIRST AND RIDES SECOND.
-
Maybe look toward WWW for the addition and not Dreamworld.
-
On Wipeout's capacity - it has now changed to minimum 10 riders instead of the 20 before. Hopefully the ride will run more often now of this change.
-
I thought XXXL was a good ride as well. Like the Claw at Dreamworld but spun all the way around and the second half of the ride released the seats so they spun forwards and backwards - changed the ride experience.

The parks at Disney World Florida do stay open to midnight even to 1am in the morning at some stages (bonus magic hours, special events etc) especially during the busier periods in which this accident happened. It was on July 4th night which is one of the busiest days of the year for all 4 of the parks on site. So there is every possibility that families/people would be on board at this time.
