  1. From Adventure World's Facebook Page -- now that looks like a great burger. Thanks Mark, I'll be back to check it out on Friday. Merry Christmas.
  2. Thanks Mark. It was the fresh juices they said they weren't doing. I did see you in the other lunch queue yesterday as well. That's a shame about the Abyss fog effects, they were great.
  3. Actually avoided the waterslides today, although I did go in the big pool, which is still freezing. Noticed lots of differences at the park, most of them changes for the better. Security was tight at the car park. There were big signs up telling people to lock their cars and a staff member zooming around the lot on a little golf cart. The car park entrance was so quick and speedy. Got in in next to no time. I didn't catch the new signs out the front until later. The new logo looks awesome. All the crew members were great and very positive. I especially thought the boys on the Freefall (like Jared) were excellent. That's such an improvement having the cast members do the countdown instead of some random Jamaican-accented person. It certainly adds a theatrical element to the ride. I like the way the pre-ride announcements have been done by the creepy-sounding guy who does the Abyss advertisements. There's also a little beast used for the measuring of the minimum height of people going on the Rampage, which seems to be doing really long and involved cycles. The dinosaurs of Dinosaur Island look great in their setting. The only tricky thing about taking photographs of them is the fact that you need to get them with their eyes open. Loved the Christmas theming with the wildlife - the dingoes had a sleigh to rest on. Wait for Abyss was about 15 minutes and most other queues weren't too bad. I noticed more pegs up next to the Shotgun. The area around there has had the grass cut short. There is a lot of room in that pocket of the park, although none of it flat. Just a couple of negatives: The moat around the back of the castle has some kind of Dreamworld funk going on - I'm pretty sure I could smell it from the chairlift. None of the special burgers or drinks were available today. The burger I had was very nice, affordable and fresh, but it wasn't the Wagyu burger. There were no fog effects being used by any of the attractions that I could see (Dinosaur Island did have heavy mist). Despite these really minor complaints, I had a great day there and everyone else seemed to be doing likewise.
  4. Took lots of pictures today. The dinosaurs look great. Will post them later tonight,
  5. They're good for what they are - they're not bowls and they're not new - but there's plenty of variety.
  6. LPM has been undergoing a transformation of sorts, with its renovated ghost train and its new restaurant by the front entrance. Obviously, when we're talking about our mid-sized parks like LPM, LPS and the AWs they need time to recapitalize between big Capex years. Goodluck to them all.
  7. Welcome Duke of Whales.. great suggestions. Congratulations Mark - that's unbelievable service. I've found Abyss has been a pretty smooth ride, on the whole. It does seem to vary with how crowded the train is and I think some smaller people can get thrown about by it. Needless to say. I will be down tomorrow to check it out and do some last minute Christmas shopping. I prefer the back row for the shorter queues and the fact that during inclement weather you don't get stung by the rain.
  8. That's awesome. Was Freefall working and did you go on it? Abyss can sometimes be like that.
  9. Hope you had a great day at Adventure World - 39 degrees here. I ended up at Perth Zoo, where it was very quiet. They made extra effort to keep the animals cool with mud baths and sprinklers.
  10. Dinosaur Island and any signage with the new logo. Have fun - it's going to be a nice hot day for you.
  11. That's insanely quick - why go on anything else? Yeah, it's great how they have lots of street performers. When does White Christmas end?
  12. Great trip report. You paint a vivid picture. Do any of the regular rides or shows get the Christmas treatment?
  13. Wow, that's some crowd. I'm hoping to see it when it hits Fremantle. It looks to have been massively popular. Coming to a city near you. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-12-14/perth-street-water-slide/5966226
  14. I think Luke's seen it, but he hasn't posted his review yet. Trip Advisor is starting to get some reviews in: some very impressed, others not so much. http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Attraction_Review-g658988-d640146-Reviews-Australian_Outback_Spectacular-Oxenford_Gold_Coast_Queensland.html versus And then there was this one star review: Ouch, but that could have been the old show.
  15. Not to your own website. You need some way to back up your arguments.
  16. It looks like the charity event is on tonight - thanks for the coverage, Luke. http://thethemeparkplace.com/news/live-blog-white-christmas-charity-event-coverage/
  17. Looks like Slidestreet is heading to Fremantle. http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-australia/after-perth-giant-pop-up-waterslide-slidestreet-heads-to-fremantle/story-fnhocxo3-1227149945921
  18. Nice. Which is your favourte?
  19. Cool. Have you seen every version of the show so far?
  20. Luke, the presentation of your website is really good except for the spelling mistakes. I liked your coverage of Carnivale and look forward to your review of the full AOS show. I'd rather know what you think than what some PR company wants us to think. Thanks for sharing your insights on this thread.
  21. Thanks for your reply earlier, Luke. The ghosts look cool. What are the reviews for the new show like? I suppose one of the problems in covering AOS is that you can't take photos in the main arena, hence you have to use theirs.
  22. Sorry Luke, I just wanted to find out some details about the new show. How do the photos you have posted relate to the old elements? Are they a fantasy, dream sequence or a story being told?
  23. Apparently it started 3 days ago. And the award for most bizarre coverage goes to.. http://thethemeparkplace.com/tag/high-country-myths-and-legends/
