Yes as people know I’m a massive Huss fanboy, these things are built stronger than any ride on the market today. It’s simple really, you put money and care into a machine then it’s going to have a lifespan exceeding 30 years. Our Huss Ranger has been running since 1988, and is still operational, as is Wittingslows Huss Pirate which is from the 70s.
I was moreso commenting on the fact that they kept the boat and used it as theming, whereas it probably could have been sold to another park to be refurbed and worked again.
Yeah, the parts were sold on to a Melbourne park. The ship looks better now too. Pirate ships have great capacity and are a good family ride, but obviously they knew Goliath was coming.
What are your thoughts on Inferno? At least they kept that one going.

Thanks @Adam C - yeah, we presume so. Yup, saw nothing at the top. Had previously thought that a second slide was going to end up in the same pool as Kraken, so it boggles the mind how this one will go. Let’s hope they’re going for another record.

Quick visit to AW, this afternoon. It was humid with temperatures in the mid 30s. One worker reckoned there was about 3500 people at the park.
Noticed some extra lime green pipes sticking up out of the ground between Kraken and the old Bounty’s Revenge. There’s a big of litter in the old circus site, but there could be some white markers towards the left of the area, just down from Bounty’s.

Another visit to Outback Splash, today. It was 30 degree weather with moderate crowds enjoying a splash on the slides. The large inflatable slide has been moved from the back right of the water playgrounds to the back left. It seems that the ground works are going in close to the previous position, close to the work sheds nearby.
The most surprising news is that the emus have moved in with the kangaroos and the whole back half of their paddock has gone. It has been expanded to include more of the pine tree area near the hedge maze. It seems they’re getting ready for the construction of their brand new entrance way. Despite its very Aussie theming, I think it will make the place feel more like a theme park. Exciting times...

Yeah, it could close for the winter months, but if they haven’t got any plans or rides to introduce, what’s the point?
I just wished they had a plan going forward, especially since it takes a year to book a coaster or significant attraction at any reputable manufacturer.
I think they should invest in well themed family rides that won’t break the bank. There’s a whole group of people who aren’t catered for at MW. Those who don’t want to do terrifying coasters, loops or backward drops. The people who liked LTRR and Bermuda, but aren’t catered for by Storm or the driving school. The patrons who prefer MDMC to Jet Rescue.
DW needs to invest in the future and give people a reason to renew their passes.

I definitely think they’re going for something popular that has decent capacity. I suppose the trick is to look at the cost - they’re not going to buy anything that costs more than Abyss.
I do think any park in Australia that builds decent re-rideable family rides will be on a winner.

I’d love to see a small Hong Kong style park, but it would require about a billion dollars worth of government support. Is your local government out of deficit? Would the rest of the community be willing to sacrifice this much cash (football stadiums seem like an easy alternative)? How would the other parks feel about this level of support for a new competitor?
Disney might be better off setting up in Adelaide...

Im curious how much taller it is compared to the claw? Like a meter or so?
It's not my cup of tea, but some people really love it - @Tim Dasco - to name one. The harnesses are a real selling point more than the height. Some people don't get the chance to fly to the east coast all of the time, so this is a nice alternative. Like Kraken, a lot of people wouldn't have experienced a ride like that in Perth.
Yes, I would love less spin and spews.

The indoor water parks are a great idea for those people who live in colder climes and like to ride waterslides all year. It’s good to see Melbourne parks getting the improvements they need. Melbourne’s a great tourist destination.

Tim and I were at Adventure World, today. It was relatively busy as the forecast was in the low to mid 30s. The Kraken time board was reporting waits of 20 minutes and it was fairly close to the mark. Wait times for Abyss and Inferno were around 5 minutes. The queues for the waterslides were quite long, so we spent a bit of time in the pool and on some sun lounges.
The animal area was quiet, although it does look like they’ve split the kangaroo mob in two, with the females and joeys in one half, so they can get them used to hand feeding.
The only thing that really bugged me, today, was that the bar area was closed and we couldn’t eat up there, which meant there was limited seating for lunch.
Otherwise Perth had perfect water park weather all weekend. I passed Kalamunda Water Park on Saturday and they seemed to be doing quite well too.

Adventure World did up the Bounty’s Revenge ship and placed it elsewhere in the park after the ride closed. They also replaced it with a Gyro Swing the season after. Some kind of reminder might be nice.

During the week, Outback Splash posted that survey markers have gone up for their 2019 expansion.
I visited there, this rainy afternoon. They were playing computer simulated POVs of the new waterslides in the cafe. Despite the temperature being in the mid to low 20s people were still taking advantage of the water playground.
The park has cleared away the scaffolding that was there during the summer and it looks like ground clearing is well underway. There’s new road access around the back of the hedge maze for construction vehicles.

I’d just like to see more family type attractions - ones that you could ride over and over again.
Gerstlauer family coaster with a reverse section(especially like Pegasus Express). Zamperla Hydro Lift or a similar kind of river raft ride. A shooting dark ride or Ninjago type thing would be cool too.
Nothing that would break the bank, but would help to round out a day at any of our local parks.

Last night of Fright Nights probably saw its biggest crowd. It was cool to start with, but eventually the wind died and it warmed up. Got on quite a few rides without too much wait. Went through the maze about 10pm, before catching the band Scalphunter perform on the main stage. Chatted to Andrew and Georgia towards the end. They seemed pretty happy with the turnout.

Still no real bump in the crowd, tonight. The weather was a little warmer. There was less fog surrounding the maze area. The maze apparently opens at 8pm.
There were lots of roaming characters running around the park. Bumped into Ross as well. He said they’re still tweaking things.

Tim and I survived the maze, tonight, although we might still be a little bit infected. The car park was only half full, so the word hasn’t really gotten out yet. It was certainly different from past Fright Nights, with effects in different places.
The theme is all about the infected, with team members donning hazmat suits. There was some weird carnival stuff in there too. There were lots of roaming scare actors out until 11pm. The event actually closed at 11.30. Really enjoyed the metal band that came on stage at about 10.30. I don’t think the maze really compares to the ones at MW, but it’s good to see AW branching out and trying something new. I think Tim was just happy to walk the moat.
Three more Fright Nights left for this season.

Busy day by the pool, today, with the temperature around the mid 30s. Goliath was out of action (although testing), Rampage is still down and tunnel of terror looked quiet. There were 10-15 minute queues on most things, which is manageable. They were also hosing the path down outside Kraken. Those misters on the queue line were great too. Luckily, I was there for rope drop and headed up soon afterwards.

What international park \ destination is better for someone with young kids?

Not a minions fan, huh?
I think you’d avoid taking little kids to a crowded park with a new attraction. I do like how quiet USS and DLHK are compared to the others. Singapore also has all the zoos, the Science Centre, ArtScience Museum, the waterparks, aquarium and a bunch of other places to visit. It’s relatively safe, taxis are cheap and most people speak English.
