  1. It's a shame really. That was the only food outlet that really stood out to me to this day from my 2011 trip.
  2. Don't you mean it was a lot more 'creative'? "Back in my day" for me wasn't that long ago. I'm only 27, but when I was growing up you had to be more imaginative with Lego. You want a spaceship? Here's some square and rectangular blocks, make what you can and imagine the rest. These days it's "put part A in part B - congratulations, you built a rocket". (Obviously not that simple but you get my point). It's the same as video games - I grew up with Doom. A reasonably open map FPS where you had to find your own way around. Now you've got COD which is more of an interactive story rather than a video game. I understand that Lego had to evolve, and don't get me wrong, I love what they've been able to make these days and I love building things. (Although I still have a Pikachu Nanoblock thing I still need to put together) but I just can't help but miss the original Lego that taught kids to be more imaginative.
  3. It's closed for annual maint til early May I think. I thought the same thing, but I don't really think there's anywhere else to put them. Cheers for the pricing too.
  4. Sorry, I meant did they have anything just before the parade? Approx 7:45pm
  5. Nah this group was literally just the ones you see there in the fancy print stuff. They weren't the ribbon dancers. Did they have any shows in front of the screen just before the parade on opening night?
  6. Yeah I'd say if it wasn't the whole group she may not have been aware of the impromptu performance of the other guys.
  7. Interesting. I'm not trying to argue with you, but one of them told me they only did the parade and that performance and last night was the only night they were there.
  8. Last night was my first experience with Carnivale so I wasn't too sure what to expect. Side note to clear something up straight away - I did not try any of the food. Last night was purely to take photos. Next weekend I'll be trying the food and getting a few shots I may have missed. I also missed the opening act as we were running late. So onto a quick review. Negatives: 1 - Just after 6pm there was some music playing and the speakers were so heavily distorted it was painful to listen to. They seemed to fix that throughout the night so I assume the audio guys picked up on that too. 2 - This one I really hope you guys on here who work for the park can pass on as feedback. The queue for scooby needs better management at the start of the night. The overflow switchback queue wasn't being used soon enough IMO. Now, while it's not the park's fault, people are idiots. Instead of lining up to keep the path clear, they simply formed a straight line and blocked the whole path. There's nothing passed scooby to do given the floats are parked there but there's nothing to signify that til you push past the crowd. (red line in pic is fence - yellow line is where people queued). Positives: Basically everything else. The entertainment was great, there was enough room to get around the main street even with the food vans everywhere. The performers didn't just crowd around the big screen either like they have seemed to at earlier Fright Nights. It was good to see some performers down around the fountain. I'm slightly concerned to learn that the circus performers wont be back next week (the ones who did the show just before the parade). I'm hoping MW gets someone in to fill that slot, whether it be getting them back or getting someone else in instead, but otherwise that's going to be a lot of boring standing around waiting for the parade with nothing to keep you entertained. Again, I can't comment on the food, that will be next week.
  9. For those who went tonight, the performance that was on just before the parade was a once off and won't be back next week
  10. How long til a certain facebook page starts calling the bridge a new ride....
  11. Nah mostly just old people kicking the bucket.
  12. The most annoying thing to deal with is the old people who constantly whine. Last cruise was to NZ a couple of years back. Our first port was supposed to be Dunedin (Port Chalmers) however it was too rough to send the tenders (life boats are called tenders when not being used in a life saving capacity) in safely. We'd been at sea 4 days by this point. There was a medical emergency which resulted in one person being taken to shore by tender with the medical crew. (It was bouncing around so much at the ship side it took them ages to load the passengers.) A bunch of people were complaining over lunch "why should she get to go to shore when we're stuck on this boat, I haven't seen land for days!". I mean for fucks sake, you're paying to be on a cruise, in the ocean. What did you think you were signing up for? Oh yeah, speaking of tenders, I've also seen them drop one off the side of the ship when the winch broke. Suffice to say that tender was out of action for the rest of the trip. That too I have photos of the damage somewhere.
  13. I can't remember in what order these events happened, however, these are the only "dramas" we've had on board. > The cruise prior to ours had someone jump overboard. Body was never found. > The cruise after ours was delayed/cancelled due to jellyfish blocking the engines in Brisbane. --- > One cruise hit a squall, and bad storm. I have photos lying around somewhere of them sweeping ankle deep water off deck 7. (That's approx 4-5 floors above sea level). As a result of the storm, one stabiliser broke causing drag in the water. It took overnight for them to flood the ballast tanks enough to level the ship again, and even then it was still on a slight lean for the rest of the journey. It was funny at the time to see your dinner slowly sliding off your plate and hearing all the plates crash in the kitchen. --- > We were on a horse riding tour on one of the pacific islands. Tours don't usually have any radio contact with the ship/dock. When we arrived back we were told "no need to worry any more, the tsunami warning has been cancelled." --- > Not directly related to a cruise I've been on, but my parents advised that the most deaths they've known of on a cruise they've done is 7.
  14. Not that we don't know what it looks like, but this will be interesting. http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/take-a-walk-around-dreamworld-from-the-comfort-of-your-home-20160420-gob3ve.html Not entirely sure when it will be available though.
  15. Let's hope then that the theming it top notch and you don't have to like the theme to still enjoy it.
  16. I think your title "So… how about those dancers, eh?" doesn't show any pics of dancers, only the singers. Otherwise it's a good review. With all the talk on the forums from you about the bacon, I thought you would have mentioned it somewhere in the review though......
