Ideas For The Old Sea Viper Space
themagician replied to Cooper Olsen's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I never got to ride Thrillseeker, but I do remember it being at the park, and remember it being on the now Ray reef site. Was the ride good? Was it popular? And why was it removed from the park? -

If you'd said Dr Who at MW, then that would be more fitting. But at SW, no. With the park already having two forms of coasters and a kids coaster opening soon, I can't really see SW building a new one. I think the variety in sea creatures is really good as well. I defiently don't think a dark ride would be a good idea, as the building wouldn't look right in the space. I know the park had one before and there are height limitations, but maybe a new Sea World Eye would be an idea. When it originally opened I thought it was a great addition and the views it provided were great. I think the site needs some flats rides. Maybe the area behind COTD where there is just gravel, could feature some flat rides, themed to this area. -

A rollercoaster themed around a mythical sea creature (any sea creature really) would be good. I know land is an issue for the park, but a coaster like Manta would be great, in my opinion. -
Sea World - Creatures from the Deep

If there is any noticeable progress of the new kids area, since the last photos posted, photos of that would be good thanks. -
^Yeah, that is a good point. But I do hope that its a little more than a few cars in a shed. I do agree with this, but I personally think the Evilution just passes with the theme, as it could be seen as a dockside building, and I'm fairly sure they removed the rock climbing wall (if I remember correctly from when I last visited).

^No, but it should. Or at least have a portable sign on the pathway saying that it will. -

It appears that SW have added a new sign to the attraction and have opened that gates fully (photo source: theme park social network) -
Seaworlds New Kids Area Announced

Foundations are starting to be laid. I'm guessing that this part will feature the kids coaster (photo source: theme park social network) -
I don't think there is much chance that cyclone will be re-themed to the v8 supercars. The ride is in ocean parade. Yes, they put Redline in there, but that was done when DW didn't really care that much. I can't see a major re-theme of the cyclone happening in a month. It is possible, but to do redo the queue system, new train and new hill system, I don't think that is likely. I believe they will close the MDMC food store for good, and put the museum (if that's what it will be) in there. Also, DW have posted on their FB page that there is something special happening soon with the fairies (referring to the Fairytale Treasures stores). Wonder what could be happening.

Major Rides Shut at Coast Theme Park (WBMW article)
themagician replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
^they did replace those rides. Junior Driving school and storm and are in their place. Justice league is like a laser tag ride, where you sit in cars and get taken along a track as you shoot at objects. -
In saying that about TOT2, that happened in 2010. Last year they upgraded Wipeout and look what they can do. The ride looks brand new. So there is the possibility of them doing the same sort of thing to Cyclone. The ride is closed for just over a month near the end of the year, so we may see some minor upgrades down then.

What I think they need to do to the ride is: replace the train with a new one, replace the chain/pull system up the lift hill and demolish the station and queue line and construct a new and better one. A fresh coat of paint on the track would be nice as well. I would assume that the ride isn't smooth because of the train. The track may have a couple of minor issues, but nothing major, otherwise it would probably need replacing. The seating themselves aren't comfortable, as there is minimal leg room and I find that the harness doesn't fit right or feels quite loose, so it causes you to thrown around a lot more.

^Yes. So many people complain about them and think they relate to the American SeaWorlds. The park isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so people just support them or at least stop complaining. As far as I'm aware there isn't anyone else going out and resulting whales from shark nets. Yes some of the creatures do perform tricks, but most of these behaviours are ones that most of them would do in the wild. I fully support the park, and think everything they do and stand for is an essential part to southeast Queensland

Sea World - Creatures from the Deep

In response to the parkz update, as it wouldn't let me do it on that forum: I didn't realise they were closing the area off during the ski stunt show. They should deinetly have a sign stating this. Also, I do get the idea of why they have only opened one of the gate doors fully and the other partially, so that guests can see the detailing of the gate, but it doesn't provide as much of an inviting feel as it could (IMO). Because the 2 areas of the attraction are apart, I do think there should be something that provides a link in some way. Even if it was some paint work on the ground (tentacles, foot prints, flowing water affect, small outlines of creature), just something so that it is a bit more clear. I defiantly feel like the whale shark over the grass is pointless, it just doesn't look right. It is a shame that they didn't build a new building on the grassed area, where the whale shark is, as that would make more sense. -
I think the Big Thrill Ride concept was a good one, but now I think they should move on from it. The only rides I think that should be a part of it are: Giant Drop, TOT2, Wipeout, Claw, Cyclone and BuzzSaw. MDMC is more a family ride. Pandaemonium, despite being quite full on, I don't think it should be a part of the BTR. Tailspin can be thrilling, but for most people who can't or don't try to get it to spin it isn't. I think the thrill rides should be classified as a ride which is large and noticeable and one that obviously provides thrills. I'm not saying that a thrill ride can only be a ride within these classifications, but for DW I think so. I don't think DW are going to change the Big Thrill Ride idea, but I do think that once they get to the Big 10 Thrill Rides, that is it for that campaign. If they are going to add more thrill rides after that don't bother with the BTR idea, because it will get ridiculous.

^yeah it has always said that

I defiantly agree that Jet Rescue is better in every way. I don't think MDMC should be removed, as it isn't a bad ride, but it could defiantly be improved. The issue begins with the bikes. They are uncomfortable and aren't the easiest restraints to get into. The leg section for the restraint needs a lot more padding. The themeing is alright, but once you leave the station, that's it. As said, there is no major thrills to the ride excluding the launch. It mostly stays at the same level, and just has smooth turns. This may be due to the size of the bikes (not sure on that one). I think the issue is that the park advertise it as a thrill ride. It is more of a family ride. But I would say that most kids like to say that they went on a thrill ride/adults ride. If the track had more sharp turns and helix's it would be a definite improvement. This is unlikely though, as the track would have to be redesigned and that would be costly. I do enjoy the ride when I go on it, but it isn't one I have to go on, mainly because of the uncomfortableness of the ride.

Are roller coasters getting more dangerous?

Yeah, but one man is thought to have lost his leg
