  1. Max capacity in each tube on Mammoth River: 6 Max capacity in each tube on Mammoth Plunge: 4 Does more need to be said?
  2. Did you know that the average age for a child 140cm in height is between 10 and 11 years of age?. In other words, it turns out that some of the kids on supermanescape.com.au WILL have to learn to spell before they go on the ride afterall.
  3. Superman is now testing, and testing late into the night with shifts scheduled until midnight. With that knowledge in hand, here's a mostly 'artsy' update from our good friends at Ozcoaster (which not even an army of hungry mosquitoes could hold back), as well as daytime shots from staff areas, and a couple groundwork shots Enjoy!
  4. Just to clarify, that’s what I'm saying; even though DW are spending a total of $6mil more, when you factor in land and existing infrastructure then its probably closer to $10mil more.
  5. I'd love to see something else come off that tower, it’s just so huge, and something where the old toboggan used to be would be great. From the top of the tower, I reckon one like Mammoth River but enclosed would be just the ticket. Imagine it going over the water park and landing in a pool just next too the Plunge exit chute. Feasible? No. Practical? No. Possible? Probably not. Nice dream? Hell yeah Just on the update, giving you some idea of how the pace of construction has picked up, the lift is now in place, with more photos (hopefully) coming next week.
  6. Don’t worry about Daniel, he's a prick, aren't ya Dan? I wouldn't worry about his sarcasm, and overall that’s pretty light compared to elsewhere. I got the impression that he actually likes you...
  7. Finished? If you want tips on beating queues, visit here. I've never lined up at WnW for more then 20mins for anything, and I've been on everything more times then I'd like to admit, and I only go in the summer months. Yes, there are long queues in the park, but if you get into a queue, find its moving slow and there are heaps of people in front of you, then try something else. Common sense dude.
  8. Hey, I'm looking forward to it, but I wanna see what it is first before I commit. In the meantime, I'm speculating, deal with it The point on the money: WVTPs were going to spend $50mill on WnW on the Sunny Coast, and gave the impression that it would be substansially smaller then the original. When you take land aquisition and pre-exisiting infustructure into account, that means DW is spending probably $10mill more on their water park which I have no doubt will translate to quite a bit. However, $56 mill to me doesn't sound like a great deal of money for a whole park. History may well prove me wrong, but until I see the park thats impression I get. I also am not saying I'm against the idea, I'm just putting the other point of view out there for you all (though I do feel as though this will "thin the crowds", not create new customers), but having said that, I can't imagine that the Gold Coast market couldn't support two (or three) water parks in the longer term. Slick, comments like that are better not to listen to, though I really can't see this big outcry about how bad this park will be your talking about. I mean, there's like one post in the other topic, and one in this thread from someone who has no idea what they're talking about. Perhaps you should save the "I know stuff" rant for later.
  9. I think putting a $56million water park IN Dreamworld is indeed, a stupid idea, which would be hard pushed to generate a decent return. However a $56million stand-alone water park (which is what this is) will make plenty of money. It probably won't be the premier water park; I really think that Wet "n" Wild will hold on to that title. Not being Biased, but when you think of all the infrastructure that needs to be built from scratch (Fast food outlets, Toilets, shops, paths, as well as filtration and the like) the amount left for actual attractions becomes quite small. Wave Pools certainty can’t be cheap either.

    RCT2 Team Park

I bought the combo pack with RCT2 and the two dodgey expansions for $30 (well $29.93, and yes, thats a 3), at Big W, so theres probably cheaper versions out there. Though just checking ebay there's at least one version for sale there.

After a heap of stalling, here is the latest. Anyone who wants a turn, feel free to download, and leave a message. Roller_coaster.com.au_Team_Park.zip
  12. Another good tip is to be slightly overweight. When you start, try jumping as the light turns green, and try and to keep the front of your mat up at the start, so as to go over the top of the false start sensor. Also try and get air as you go over the humps, as you go quicker through mid-air, and the final most important tip is to keep the front of your mat up as much as possible. Take this from someone who came second in the competition, and trained the winner
  13. Not to make a huge issue out of this, but what he means is building new stand alone attractions that bring NEW customers to the Gold Coast i.e. what WVTPs are doing with Paradise Country and Outback Spectacular. I think the argument John is making is comparable to the stuff DW has been saying about Westfield in Helensvale (and Vice Versa). The basic point being that competition won't make more customers, just divide those that are there. A new water park really, isn't significantly different from Wet 'n' Wild, and probably won't bring a huge number of new visitors to the coast. When WVTPs (or SW property trust) have built a new park it’s been different enough from the others to be draw in its own right, not a leech off other parks. Movieworld was a new kind of park, not a direct copy of DW or SW. It increased the length of stay on the Gold Coast, where as two water parks will be more of a one or the other decision. It'll be interesting to see if DWWP go with Dive-in-movies, or anything like that to go after WnW's extended trading. Having said that, I think all will work out good, as numbers to the Gold Coast are healthy, and I feel can support two water parks (particularly when bundled together, such as with a 3 park super pass and what I'll call a 2 park "excellent" pass).
  14. The body slides during the day, wouldn't know though I suspect a bit of a queue there, night is a walk-on. I think there is a difference at night, and I prefer night rides to days rides, and Terror Canyon 2 kicks pretty major butt when there's no outside light leaking in. Your options for as single rider are somewhat limited on Speed Coaster and Terror Canyon sadly, you've pretty much got to wait there till another single is found. On Mammoth however you just jump into a raft and its loaded as normal (max 6 min 3 or whatever). I'd love to take a punt at H20's queues, though I've got no idea. Good luck
  15. What queues at night?? Its one of those things that not many people take advantage of, but during Dive-in-movies, queues range from being nearly non-existent to being non-existent. The only slides with a queue are the Terror Canyons. During the day in summer however, you may wanna stick to Super 8, Mammoth, Calypso Beach and the wave pool, as everything else gets really busy.
  16. Hinze Dam (The Gold Coast's main water supply) is at 75%, so its not as dire down here. Add to that the extra money that the council will make, as well as flow on effects to the wider community, and its really not a surprise in the slightest to see them getting permission to build. I think the more attractions on the Coast there are the better, and WnW is going to be in a pretty good position to combat the new park. I say bring it on!
  17. I don't know, but quite frankly, its scary.
  18. 01002 might have been a good teaser had more then 3 people seen it. I actually have only yesterday seen any evidence of Superman's impending arrival at Movieworld, and that was a poster at the cinema. Had I not known about the ride previously, I would've had no idea it was coming till yesterday. Still, I'm not a 12-17 year old, so that might have something to do with it. To be fair though, marketing is a pretty easy thing to be critical of, and Movieworld still seems to be trying to find its identity. It has a new slogan every 2nd year ("I've been to Movieworld", "Hooray for Hollywood", "Where Movies come alive", "where Movie Magic happens everyday", and the current "where everyone's a star"). Movieworld used to be a behind the scenes look at the movies, but in more recent years, its shifted towards more of a “riding the movies” sort of thing (which isn't a gripe, I MUCH prefer to "ride a movie" then find out how they made it). The park has had something of an identity crisis in the past, and as such, it is going be a bit tricky to pick a marketing angle. I think WVTPs has a pretty decent marketing department. The website that seems to be the victim of so much mocking (and quite rightly so may I say) is there to cater for the teen market, and judging by this quote from the site... ... it appears the teen market has responded. Another thing to remember is that they are trying to market 3 competing parks at the same time, so it’s got to be a constant balancing act. DW on the other hand can focus all their energy into one park, one product. WVTPs have 3. No wonder you see so much more DW marketing out there, they can dedicate all their effort into DW. Imagine having to advertise BOTH Coca-Cola and Pepsi at the same time, to the same people and you'll get some sort of an idea of what I’m getting at here.

    RCT2 Team Park

Ok, here are some screens of my area "Tech Center". The basic theme here is technology, and the rides are hi-tech, and the whole area has a modern, relaxing feel. Tech Center contains 6 rides: Rocket Runner - Indoor launched coaster themed to a space rocket launch. Two inversions are the highlight of this ride, as well as an indoor non-inverting corkscrew. Flight Training - Continuing the rocket launch theme slightly further, this enterprise is for the less daring. Water Works - Indoor MACK water coaster. Themed to a giant pumping station Joz Parks Monorail - Monorail tour of tech center can be extended to service whole park at a later date. Thrill Riders - Simulated ride. Air Factor - Intamin Jr. Hyper, at a mere 36 meters tall, this ride packs in 8.43 seconds of air time in its 1,118 meters of track for a top speed of 99km/h. Rated at 8.83 for excitement, when opened with the park, this ride is rated as one of the top 2 rides in the park. File to come soon.
  20. Can't be sure, but it looks like the footage is mixture of both the Six Flags New England, and Six Flags America hypers (Superman: Ride of Steel at both parks).
  21. I didn't realise I was talking to you, is that a confession of some sort? The comment below is what I meant:
  22. Should clean this thread up, but its too funny. I can't see any breaches of community guidelines, except one: Please be aware of this at all times.
