  1. I personally don't find HWSW painful at all, yes there are a couple of sudden jolts but they're not that big. Maybe it's just that I've got a younger neck, who knows. I still put it in my top 10 as it's the same age as AA. However as people mentioned it's really just the restraints on AA and I seem to get a piercing headache afterward caused by the shaking. Shouldn't this be a red flag for inspectors, because isn't corrosion in the ride structure pretty serious? I'm no engineer but how bad would it need to be until something has to be done? On another side note, Dreamworld's iconic Wipeout is still having teething issues with it's new ride system. Occasionally it will still create the loud creaking noises when turning and it is currently shut for unscheduled maintenance. Wonder why it hasn't fixed itself up yet?
  2. Not sure how long this has been there but this is an awesome touch! Saves MW getting complaints from idiots who moan about maintenance.
  3. Your legs end up committing suicide during a cycle, and you end up with a crazy headache from the super rough ride. It's condition is clearly pretty bad, much more rough than even HWSW. If it wasn't so rough, it would be a good ride.
  4. People have the perception that Justice League will be closing due to the recent discussions about it's thematic elements. It's not really light on maintenance, but I agree that it's closure is certainly more than a decade away.
  5. Photos tell a different story. As I said, small parts of the ride have been removed. This could be a temporary or permanent demolition, who knows.
  6. In the past we've already talked about a couple of coasters which could be on the chopping block in the next few years - but I'm really curious to see what 10 rides you guys think will permanently close the soonest in NZ and Australia. Whether that's coasters, flat rides or waterslides. Let 1 be the soonest to close. My personal ranking: 1) Corkscrew, Rainbows End 2) Arkham Asylum, Movie World 3) Wipeout, Dreamworld 4) Mammoth Falls, Wet'N' Wild GC 5) Hot Wheels Sidewinder, Dreamworld 6) Shrek's Ogre-Go-Round, Dreamworld 7) Puss n Boots Sword Swings, Dreamworld 😎 River Rapids, Wet N Wild GC 9 ) Motion Master, Rainbows End 10) Tower of Terror II, Dreamworld I would have put Sidewinders & Jetstreams in there but it already appears to be undergoing demolition or temporary removal.
  7. Jack Darkes Buzzsaw has once again been pushed back, this time until the 4th June. At what point are we able to call it an extended closure? 3 months?
  8. STAPLED is a common word used in the theme park industry to describe a harness being pushed down and locking into place with excessive force on the human body. STAPLED is a word which should be understood by all theme park enthusiasts in order to be declared legally as a theme park and/or coaster enthusiast.
  9. If you consider that an interesting day, then how do we describe your typical dreamworld day? - Tower of terror always needs to be closed for a few hours a day for unscheduled maintenance - Numerous harness problems and e-stops with many rides have to occur throughout the day, mainly BuzzSaw, Tower of Terror, Pandamonium and Wipeout. - One miserable staff member always operates shockwave, 15 minute dispatches, 5-7 minute unloads. - Wave pool at whitewater world closes in pouring rain, lifeguards hide in the shelter instead of at their stations! - Rides don't actually start operating until .... You get my point. That experience you had certainly wasn't an interesting day. It was pretty standard.
  10. Your right, thought you were talking rubbish for a second.
  11. Potentially some good news theming-wise for WWF It is undergoing maintenance for a couple of days soon.
  12. I think moving Surfrider is a good decision considering it is closed most of the year. One of the problems with Surfrider though is that it's ride time is too short and load times are long.
  13. For those who don't know already... Jack Darke's BuzzSaw pushed back another month Little Rippers pushed back slightly
  14. Strip Scooby Doo of all it's thematic elements and I still think it's a really fun coaster, in fact it's in my top 3 for Movie World rides. The raw ride itself is thrilling and has an awesomely long ride time which makes it epic even without the theming. Have a think.. if you had never been on the ride before and went on it for the first time you would probably be more worried about the sharp corners and drops rather than the effects. And this is the problem. We all know that ALL of our Gold Coast theme parks have seen better days. But if you had never visited any before, I'm sure you could have an awesome time at all of them. Apart from Sea World. Sea World is the problem. Not Movie World, Dreamworld, WhiteWater World or WetNWild. While all of them could have some touch ups, Sea World is bare. If you're not a kid, you won't be able to have a good time at Sea World. At least I couldn't. 2 thrill rides, 0 family rides, and a few kids rides. This is our problem! I know, and we all know that both Village and Ardent have a lot of work to do, however Movie World is not far off to become the ultimate theme park. I really don't see the need to complain about it.
  15. They probably dont want those “fearless” young children going up there by themselves and then have the ride stop on them, traumatising them. Perhaps they think children over 10 would better understand what a stoppage is.
  16. Wow! Thank you so much for creating that diagram, it is much appreciated, clarifies a lot of questions which have been sitting in my head for awhile. Thanks for taking your time to create that for us! Interesting to find out that is a smoking area. When you go along the train and pass the wiggles world area, you often see the staff smoking (kinda wished they put that part out of view). I don't know why staff would walk all the way to blue lagoon to have a smoke/break though. Would have just thought they would go to there cars or something. Wish there was some more higher quality photos of that area from ground view, would be interesting to see in detail how badly the adjacent buildings have decayed. I kinda wished they would demolish the area like they are doing with Gold Rush.
  17. Wow, that was a stuff up! I was always under the impression that this was the big brother house. So is this image below the Dreamworld Studios? Sorry for that ! So when the house was open for viewing would people have had to walk through Blue Lagoon in order to get to it? It seems like quite a walk, parts now seem very overgrown too. Another question, how often do you think staff/engineers check up/walk in and around abandoned structures like the BBH or Blue Lagoon? Would it be every day, or just very occasionally? And why would they have chosen to cement the blue lagoon pool and not just fill it with dirt? How come you might often see small excavators present on the cemented pool throughout a day at dreamworld (viewed from GD) which often change position or location throughout the day, what would they be using these for? Where did the old slides go? I notice one of the slides is still present on the volcano. The other fiberglass one and toboggan was removed long ago, were they scrapped or moved? Sorry, I have tried to search through old threads however I can't seem to find the answers to these questions. Thanks very much for any answers.
  18. Just a couple of questions about DW, is this the pool of where the Toboggan slide used to stand? And is that where they conduct maintenance and store the steam train? There is this building on Dreamworld's property, by the overflow carpark, what is it? Appears as if it is well maintained. What is this red roofed building next to blue lagoon? And are those blown up rubber rings for the blue lagoon pool? Why do they have so many random buildings by the thunderbolt dumping site? At least 2 large warehouses, and lots of little ones scattered around. Does anyone know if they are still used?
  19. Absolutely unbelievable that a ride can undergo maintenance for 10 months and have merely a thing changed. This is really appalling coming from a theme park which certainly does not have a reputation of such acts. On the bright side however - at least it is up and running, hopefully for my next trip to the gold coast in August.
