^^FAIL That's about as wrong and as funny as you could possibly be! You won't see the ill affects from these policies for years yet. Give it 2-3 years and you will see the long term damage this policy will have. Sure in the short term people will spend the money. But it's when they stop the frequency of their visits or just plain stop coming at all that it will hit hard. Annual passes are great and all for the local and theme park nerd like us, but it's your interstate tourist market that makes the parks their cash.

Despite my negative comments above I really can't fault what they're doing. Apart from the colour of the ride, which IMO is just totally wrong for Seaworld there isn't much to complain about. NAME - Yes it's a stupid name, but how many rides out there have names that don't make sense. Sea Viper sounds cool, and you don't really think average Jo is going to get out his iPhone and google what exactly a Sea Viper is before riding do you? As for Corkscrew, well that's about as sad as you get with creative naming. TRAIN - Well we can't say ANYTHING bad about replacing the train, its great the park is keeping the ride running and improving it. I would hate to see the ride shuttered. NEW RIDE - Well I guess like Richard says, we can only wait and see, if they simply give it a new sign and new branding on the map then fine. But I doubt they will say "all new attraction" in any marketing. You can't really advertise "all new train" either because again, average Jo won't know what the hell theyre talking about. I think to say, ride the new Sea Viper ride is a pretty fair compromise. What I do hope we see is some re-theme of the station, would be very half baked just to change the track colour and train and leave the stock standard station house as is.

What's hilarious is just look at what Disneyland was doing 5-10 years ago and it exactly what our parks are doing now. Disney realised all the mistakes and bad decisions they made and how it affected the parks and attendance. It took them a few years, a lot of money and effort and some great new management to fix all that. And now the parks look great and attendance is crazy. How can you look at all that and think it will turn out any different for us!

I attended the final Ski Show performance yesterday. It turned out to be quite an affair with most of the Skiiers that had perormed in it's 30+ year run in attendance. The show was returned to it's former (well cast numbers wise anyway) glory with a full compliment including Meter Maids. Unfortunately the items cut from the show during it's several year run weren't included but that's WPH&S for you. Adam was of course playing Sonny and did a great job, quite a few little "you're fired" jokes were snuck into the show. Some of the show's long running cast members had a bit of extra limelight, including a fantastic barefoot display by one of the worlds finest. The show ended with a final display of the iconic Ski Pyramid followed by all performers returning to the stage including both ski boats and jet skis, something we haven't seen for a long long time. Following the show a presentation was made to all current cast members, including some brief but hear felt words from John Menzies who was given a fantastic welcome from a loyal crown, including the man himself Keith Williams (interestingly enough Pete became Peter Millions for this performance, co-insidence I think not). It was certainly sad to see the end of a Gold Coast icon and one couldn't help that John's reasons for ending the show were somewhat less than completly sincere. Times will tell how wise this dicision has been, but I don't think there could be much chance of it turning out any worse than replacing PA with Stunt Driver, I mean how could it! Hopefully expect an article and Photos soon, there was plenty of media coverage of the event also.

Looking for someone who works at WVTP

So if nothing is listed for those dates that should tell you that all rides will be open during this time! That is why the parks have this info on their websites. -
I do believe a new train is on it's way for Corkscrew, no idea what sort of train it could be but surely it wouldn't just be an identical replacement or what would be the point. You can bet it's being made by Vekoma, what with it being Arrow track and all.

Sea World ski stars sunk by pirates

Yup, it floats. So it was nothing more than knocking out the rock wall that separated the lake from the lagoon and towing it out. The wall has now been reconstructed. -

That won't be happening though. You'll find this new show takes pride of place down at the front of the park, with the Endeavour only in it's current position while modification works are carried out. -

WISHFUL? Geeze the nice large lake is one of the most asthetically pleasing parts of the park which was something Seaworld could always pride itself on. The beatiful appearance of the park. Something that has started to slide in my opinion. Filling in any MORE of the lake would be a horrible idea in my opinion. -
This is getting rediculous... How long has that half of the dump scene been out of action for now? Really poor Seaworld. For me it's realy sad to see what was once my favourite park in the world get to the state it is in now...

It is very rare for a ride to be shut down during peak periods unless a maintenance requirement dictates so. All refurbs are scheduled out of peak periods and it is rare for a coaster to be down longer than a week as they stagger the train re-builds. Yes, mickey is correct, they are complex machines with thousands of parts, sensors, electronics etc. Take Disneyland as an example, it is rare to go to the park where in a day at least several of there rides go down, if not all. This is due to how much more complex their rides are than most, and just something you have to live with if you want the parks to push the boundaries.
-
Why is it rediculous? Is anyone here seriously suggesting that they cut whatever maintenance they are doing just to get the ride open? Obviously if it is down this long, and is so unexpectidly then the ride must require some kind of maintenance, they don't just shut down rides in peak periods for the hell of it. So clearly whatever is being done, needs to be done, and they won't open the ride until it's comeplete and more than that, safe! The last thing you would ever want is to cut back on the quality and scope of the work and then open the ride. Next thing you know you'll have trains derailing or something and everyone will be on here critisising the park for shoddy maintenance.
-
Was that a joke about saving costs by cutting them? Surely not. Don't keep something on the menu (and a sign for it) and then not have it available. And geeze, some reasonably good for you food items should remain on the menu. It's one thing to make people buy all food in the park, its another to force them to eat unhealthy...

You know every time I have been to the Bakery in the middle of the day in the last couple months they have had none of the nice sanwiches they make. I've been after a continental baguette for months now and there are NEVER any there...

So Im in Sydney and just saw a TV ad for Stunt Driver. Now I'll give the ad credit, it did make the show look good, but then again so does food made from clay and plastic on TV. However the tag line of the ad just made me laugh. I can't remembe if it said "Best" or "Greatest" but it was one of the two. Come on, that's not stretching, thats just plan lies! Do shows like Waterworld and Lights Motors Action/Cars not exist on this earth or is it just me?

I have to say since the 'Revenue Department' was created I've seen nothing but falling standards from everything it controls. I get more and more angry by something I see initiated by one of these managers pretty much every time I step foot in one of the properties. This happened at disneyland years ago, retail took over the park and everything else was given a back seat. Over time the park suffered and attendance fell. Then the booted the president and brought in Matt and he changed all that and put things back how they should be. Now look at the place, they are turning guests away again! I just find it so comical to watch other park operators think they know better then Disney. Guess we'll just sit back and wait for the next flame article in the bulliten hey!

I just wanted to say that I rode Scooby today and was VERY happy with what I saw (and heard). Everything in the ride was working, dark ride section, and high zone section. Heaps of haze in the main room, all the lasers working and even the side lasers hitting the mirrors running. The audio whilst not the best I've heard is a lot better than what it had been the last time I rode. The audio could be better, but even I can admit the majority of riders are not spending that part of the ride evaluating the fidelity of the audio system. The last room was lit well, Scooby was talking and there was plenty of haze for that laser too. They do need to change it back to a green cone though, there is just no way that red one will ever have enough punch. One thing of interest is the brakes coming out of the last drop in the laser room were back to being really firm. Perhaps the decision has been made to firm up the brakes and pump the fog in, it certainly had the ride looking great. VERY happy to see. I also hear good things about Tunes, I will have to get down there and check it out.

That's a bad way to play it. For rides at the back of the park sure but your signature ride just inside the gate should be up for opening. Problem is if like today something goes wrong in opening checks at 10 the opening can get pushed back to after 11. You then have people who have been waiting over an hour to start there day and that just makes for angry patrons.
-
So how long have rides not been opening until 1030? First time I've seen this today, great step in the six flags direction! Kind of stops people from being able to have one ride and then see the first hwsd show...

All all honesty I have no idea what is wrong with Lethal, but on the bulletin website, in the comments on sea world ski show, someone mentioned it had cracks in the trains. Now I'm not saying that means it's true, but where there's smoke there's fire, so I would be guessing there is an unexpected problem with the ride. It's not like this kind of thing is uncommon, or dangerous, but it would make it hard to predict a re-opening date and would thus explain the dates changing.

The two things that concern me is that firstly all of that footage is definitely from the 80s & early 90s. It is clear from the quality of the video and the fact it's come from tape, but also in the attire of the audiences. Has he not done anything of value in the past 10 years? Secondly neither the advertisement for auditions nor anything on their site mentions skiing in any way. I'm all for adding elements to the shows for Sea World but it would just seem stupid to me to cut any skiing component to the show entirely given it has been the park's staple for decades. Removing skiing would almost come across to me more of proving a point and making a statement rather than improving the entertainment offering. And I'm sure most of you can read into that what you need to! -

I have no idea of current or future plans for movie world as far as effects and other theming are concerned...
-
And I might just add zero interest in doing anything about it. Time was taken to research, design and think through changes to the rides effects to bring it back up to speed and make up for the lack of fire but the ideas fell on deaf ears and no one seems to care about it. Really is very upsetting and I've given up thinking about it.

Yes the Pirates of Paradise which was probably the biggest budget well thought out 'rounded off' show of all the incarnations of the Ski Show over the years. OH&S garbage and reduced budgets I think put the close on that show.
