  1. Lasers can't be "circle" and attached to the tunnel to follow the car. Sounds like a cool lighting effect but it's not going to be lasers.
  2. Can you explain/ elaborate on that?
  3. Bunnings at southport, harbour town, and nerang are all 15-20mins from helensvale. Never done any emergency runs but have been to bunnings A LOT over the years (yay for company accounts). Now sooo off topic so back on track... I can really see this place being frozen/snow world 2.0
  4. If the 'fluro tubes' were off then they may well be led tubes as displayed above which would provide lighting effects. However there will need to be maintenance lights for track inspections and such too so that may be what is being reffered to...
  5. That looks like some pretty cheesy CGI simulator 'coaster' like attraction. I doubt Movie World would get this.
  6. I dunno. From Movieworld I have 3 bunnings all within about 15 minutes drive. Pretty saturated.
  7. The Simpsons (and BTTF) are a motion base style of ride, not a theatre with moving seats. The building is also huge so not at all practical refit for the Roxy
  8. Why would they change the projectors? Those projectors were bought for Shrek and still at the top end of what's available. Would be throwing money away to replace them IMO
  9. I am not hating this particular rumour specifically nut it annoys me to know end when employees abuse their employment conditions and happily post inside information not for public consumption. This includes people who tell other who then proceed to release it to the public domain. What is worse is that most people do it to 'look cool' to other readers. It only serves to close off information sources in the future.
  10. So you've never worked with the accor vacation club then? My mistake.
  11. I managed to get to the park yesterday and was fortunate enough to see Elmo. He was really great and it was really really cool to see something like this happening at the park just for a one off, would have required some decent effort to pull off. Certainly makes for a very credible Sesame Street Beach land when you have the REAL Elmo there. A fairly big crowd packed in to watch the show Elmo and Abby Entertain
  12. Given that this is obviously info you've heard as a rumor either through you pseudo employment at the parks or from someone else that works there do you honestly think ANYONE who actually knows if it is true or not is going to confirm or deny for you here? It's amazing after all these years you still have a job, I doubt anyone else is willing to risk theirs.
  13. I think you are confusing the lights that illuminate the whole scene with the one that comes on as you turn the corner and highlights scooby. One stays on all the time and the other comes on as scooby speaks. Well at least it did when I rode it last week.
  14. I would like to just point out this is an opinion thread. Everyone is entitled to have one so please don't feel the need to question peoples choices.
  15. So we are usually pretty critical when effects and so forth aren't working on attractions on here, and are always comparing to Disney as being the gold standard... This thread is a good reality check http://micechat.com/forums/disneyland-reso...ot-working.html Even though you might have had that perfect ride on something like Indy, the reality for many who visit is very different.
  16. Well I think you should be very careful when throwing around the term 'deficiencies in operation.' If you don't like a current effect then that's fine but your comment implies the effects in the ride aren't working, not that you don't like them. Same goes for the final laser, it is there and does work, you just aren't happy with their choice of effect. That's your prerogative but doesn't mean you can criticize the operations of the ride. As for Scooby, that light does go out, but given the only time the doors open is for a car to pass, and the light comes on for that car, I don't see how you expect it to be off when the doors are open??
  17. I'd also be very interested to hear what is still not considered up to scratch?...
  18. Looks to me as though they are connected through a gear diretly to the shaft connecting to the pendulu which is supported by the large bearing. The disc break can be seen on the right hand side. They look like electric variable frequency drives to me rather than hydraulic so each would rotate in both directions to move the arm. All just observational speculation though.
  19. The massive Disc Brake on the Claw can be seen pretty easily. It's the huge shiny silver circle you can see that rotates as the arm swings, and the large calipers that close on it can be seen also. I'm guessing that an E-STOP would close those Brakes damn quickly and that ride would stop very fast. You'd then have all the riders stranded whilst waiting for maintenance staff to come and bring the ride down. One of the many many reasons you only EVER hit an E-STOP in the case that serious injury is immanent.
  20. To answer a few questions/comments from this thread... People would pay to go there because there is a HUGE demographic that isn't interested in thrill rides, people actually WANT to see animal exhibits. The animal aspect hasn't been 'pretty well covered already' because there are countless marine species not on exhibit at Sea World. There are certainly most ride types on 'exhibit' throughout the many theme parks on the gold coast. You're not doubling up on animals when you have two vastly different species like here with the penguins. As was said, very different when you're talking about big ole 1m tall animals compared to the cute small little guys already in the park. Question is, will these be going where Shark Attack once was or somewhere we don't know about yet.
  21. What is this lid you're talking about?
  22. Dude the floats have a towbar coming out the front and a generic buggy pulling them. If we are going to start picking on stupid stuff Id say that's a bigger concern than 3 little steps which aren't even checkerplate they are steel grating. The steps are tiny and painted black. I don't think they could be any less obvious. I'd sooner that than big obvious stairs, themed or otherwise. Can we turn this into a World of Color not having a story thread now?
