  1. Disney use the system also. At regular intervals a rider is handed a card when they enter the line, they then hand it to the attendant when boarding. The attendant informs the supervisor they have received a care and the time is updated. I really don't know if MW needs this system. The Universal and Disney Parks are much bigger and Alton Towers is HUGE. I can really walk all the way from one side of MW to the other in 5 mins to check a wait time if I really want to...
  2. I'm sure the pictures show the roof with some great renders of night time looks for the park with great lighting effects onto the roof...
  3. There is a no way its about saving power. The company pays very little for power and really doesn't care about how much it uses in terms of costs, that is fact not my hearsay... I would say it's a case of staff not bothering to do the proper ride checks. AV would come in of a morning and start up the ride and the effects, I would like to think baring any equipment problems all the effects are running when they leave, that's their job... Now once the ride is handed over to the operations department it's their job to constantly monitor the effects keep working. If they stop and they don't notice or don't care and don't bother to contact AV to come fix them then they will go the rest of the day not working. When you have young part time labour who don't really give a damn doing this job, you see where the problem goes wrong.
  4. What closure exactly did you give with that incredibly low res grainy (ie can't see squat) picture?
  5. Its a light 'sky' blue I guess. It was 2 rail but the more standard Intamin 2 rail like you see on the end of superman, etc. Not the dodgy ass motocoaster track.
  6. I can tell you two easy ways to get people to listen to you and get respect instantly. 1. Use correct punctuation and spelling. 2. Use your real name. Example one yeah guyz im gonna get a new ride for saworld its gonna be real great its an intamin prototype jetski ride. peace out Jman Example two We've gone ahead and decided to order a new Intamin prototype Jet Ski style seating coaster for Sea World. Regards John Menzies Both could be the same people, its just all in how credible the post is. When your proposing something unexpected AND doing it in a really non credible posting style, its going to be hard to get people to believe you.
  7. I can say that yesterday they were unloading containers full of nice new blue track out in the car park. Didn't see any trains yet.
  8. Funny because I'm pretty sure Disney has shown that joint ventures with the government can work quite well And residents and 'zoo friends' are idiots. When that zoo finds itself struggling for business and needing grants to keep operating in years to come they will wish they took on Village's offer. Many parks show animals and rides can co-exist. They are just small minded.
  9. This is the one thing I hate about anonymous and alias posters. Myself and Rabid both show that you can be honest and upfront about who you are and still keep your job. If you are going to sprout on about how your BOH all the time and in maintenance areas, just say who the hell you are and then you might be taken seriously. Until then you have to appreciate the amount of people who post complete BS pretending to know what they are talking about and stating it as FACT.
  10. Thanks Gazza... didn't have to look, Rob emailed me so thanks to him. Alex all I would say is to read my post more carefully. And no, we will not be pimping up our homestead set with neons at this stage.
  11. So I'm trying so source a manufacturer of some Crackle Neon like was installed in Space Probe (and funnily enough Bermuda at Seaworld). Does anyone here know who built the stuff for WL?
  12. Well the ride was definately painted and the scaff is now gone. I for one applaud WVTP for painting a ride when they easily could have left it (hello Dreamworld). Obviously it wouldn't have been cheap to do and the ride looks good as new again. One point to consider is that although the WnW install is not a prototype of the ride system, it is the first to continously spray it with chlorinated water. They only could have guessed what that would do to the track and maybe they didn't get it quite right. Regardless its awesome that during the time the ride was down anyway they chose to do a complete repaint.
  13. That's so weird because at WVTP the COO runs his but off, probably doing even more day to day than the CEO. It's bizarre that ML feel they don't need this position.
  14. I want to make a correction that it is the COO (2nd in charge) and not the CEO that was axed... sorry for the initial minor error.
  15. That company you're thinking of would be FX Illusions who have been working with Movie World since the beginning. They have a pretty good website which shows their past projects. I'm not surprised they are working on HSD. Everything I've heard points to a very similar set to the shows 'inspiration' Lights Motors Action.
  16. So I heard this as a rumour yesterday and then it was confirmed by at least one member of staff I know at the park. Apparently a whole bunch of management was let go in the last couple of days including one CEO... Anyone else know details on this?
  17. Why would you want those lights removed? I hope they are fixed up properly to provide any necessary 'work light' at night under the roof. They are in theme and much more attractive than a bunch of metal halide floods.
  18. Razor blades in the slides... BIGGEST URBAN LEGEND OF ALL TIME! Really I would love someone to point me to a newspaper report of someone being cut some time. Because until I see that I will never believe it.
  19. Although some would say I'm biased I would say the lighting (or effects) scheme is what will make or break this roof. If it is lit properly and effectively at night it could be really something. If it's just flood lights shining up at white fabric it will definitely be shopping centre central.
  20. Yes the rood will extent out over the buildings so no more rainy days on main street at movie world.
  21. Yes Gazza, you had the word I couldn't think of. And no these are not shade sale poles, they form a custom design structure for the project, which as you can image in quite huge. It will not be a series of pyramids however.
  22. Forgive me if this has been discussed before but I just came across this site... I've never heard of it before and am wondering what the back story on it is and who's site it is? http://www.themeparknewsdirect.com
  23. It's not really one or the other. It's a roof that will completely cover the street but it's not 'solid' like metal or anything. It's more of a translucent material much like what you would see at sea world down at dolphin cove kind of thing. There is more to the finished support than what you see lying in the car park.
  24. Expect lots of steel REAL soon. People will be happy to know that trees are going back into main street and the plaza, they just need to be a different type of tree suited to shade. So don't think the barron look is permanant.
  25. Well all rides need maintenance and surfrider would need more with all the water and chlorine. Same deal with paint, it gets eated by the chemicals in the water. I'm guessing they'll rehab the FT whilst its cold as hell up here and then re-paint the pool ready for the next season. Seems like a pretty logical move to me.
