  1. Thanks very much for that. I wonder if there is going to be a dark ride section that sets up the approaching storm as well as whatever scene they have planned at the end. There might be just enough room after departing the station for a small scene
  2. I love the statues. But does anyone know if they are planning to build a facade on the front of the show building? Would be a shame to leave it as an exposed grey shed considering how good the rest of the theming has been
  3. Well of course they are counting each individual flume itself because saying 42 SLIDES & ATTRACTIONS... sounds better than 15 ATTRACTIONS! In reality though, I don't count the racer as 8 waterslides. It's one ride type - no matter how many times it's duplicated. Anyway, capacity-wise, we'll soon find out
  4. The comp already has over 3000 entries. I'm gonna make a prediction. This park is going to need to expand sooner rather than later... I think it's going to be a massive hit. And despite the claim of 42 rides, there are really only around 15 or so major attractions. Expect lines.
  5. You know what happened last time Wet'n'Wild GC got the general public to choose a name for a ride... we ended up with AquaLoop. Worst name ever. Hopefully they'll have something better to choose from this time
  6. Is it just me or does that lazy river look a little narrow? And is it made out of steel (or something) rather than concrete? I'd also like to see more than 'plantings'... Some rockwork, tunnels or water features that you pass through/under might be nice. Although I've got a feeling WnW Sydney might be very theming-lite...
  7. Clearly still lots of info to be added. Plenty of slides not in their attractions 'list'
  8. I'm so very impressed with this. The theming looks like it's going to be top notch. Does anyone else feel like emailing the CEO of Ardent Leisure with pics of this ride and just saying: THIS. THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE!
  9. Seems like there's differing views on this one. Maybe we need a new thread with other realistic ride options Movie World could consider. It was one of the questions they asked in the most recent survey afterall...
  10. I think it's great. I can think of much worse additions! I just hope they actually implement the decent signage and theming as shown in the concept illustrations. I have to say I'm surprised that they are revealing this information so far ahead of time. They used to keep this stuff top secret. Guess they aren't scared of their competitor anymore!
  11. THIS is what Dreamworld should have built. An actual rollercoaster. Congrats Adventure World!
  12. In order to gain more credibility, I would suggest commissioning a professional website for the project. As soon as I looked at the current one, I instantly assumed this project would never happen.
  13. Well done on clarifying/correcting all that Gazza (and there was a lot to be clarified!). ncrofty - have you considered applying to become a News Corp journalist? ... I'm just mucking around by the way Gazza - I'm thinking the dark blue slide on the Whitewater tower might actually be totally dark inside, providing a 'black hole' type ride. What do you think? Also, any chance you can find that TPR vid again?
  14. Thanks as always julys. Where would we be without your WnW Syd updates?! Glad to see they went with the Tornado version they used in the actual model rather than the video. It's got a neat extra couple of loops after the main funnel as opposed to emptying directly into the pool. And just out of interest I came across the 'official' name/type for those curious shortened Master Blasters on the WhiteWater tower: Master Blaster Express. As far as I can find they've only built one before and they mention they are for smaller footprints and obviously therefore less expense. Here's the link: http://www.whitewaterwest.com/zoombezibay.html
  15. http://www.stmarysstar.com.au/story/1730915/new-theme-park-plan-to-bring-back-the-fun/?cs=1508 I don't understand why this 'proposal' is being given so much airtime and credibility. It's ridiculous. NOT going to happen. This guy is obviously good at getting the local papers excited but that's about it. Check out the artists impression in the article above. It's hideous! Probably better for all of us if it doesn't happen if that's what it's going to look like. I don't see how it can be taken seriously - it looks like a 10 year old fan boy made the image
  16. Are you sure the pull-through is only for testing clearances? I find that a bit strange, especially seeing as this is as a standard model, used many times before. Wouldn't it also have something to do with ensuring the vehicle moves along the track correctly, with no track faults or gauge issues? This would make sense rather than just letting the thing do a full circuit at full speed and then finding half way along, in a very abrupt way, that there are problems
  17. It was years ago when Lindsay Fox promised this. Then he backed away when he didn't get approval for the massive development he wanted to create down there. That's why you've gotta take what these billionaires say with a grain of salt. In the end many of them are only out to make more money, and as quickly as possible
  18. ncrofy101 - I think you'll find that layout is not to scale. If you look at the nearmap image Gazza posted (and I re-posted) you'll see the top left of the park is taken up by the 'storm water retention ponds'. There is also a clump of trees but my understanding is they have to remain for planning/environmental reasons
  19. I agree with you Alex to some extent. They can always replace older slides with new ones... although hopefully they will expand before their rides get 'old'. Something new every 2-3 years would be good. Anyway, I found the original planned layout which shows the 'future expansion area'. When you compare it to the nearmap image you can see a small portion of this area still exists (just seems like the WhiteWater tower and Skycoaster have encroached on it more than in the original plans). The trees I believe would have to remain, so they may have to do something clever to fit in a whole new slide complex one day...
  20. Actually they kinda made the Claw fit by theming it around a monster taking over a beachside camping ground. That's why some of the theming has beach-style thatched roofs and the 'community notice board' out the front also fits the beach theme. The Cyclone also can be stretched to fit the theme as cyclones affect coastal areas
  21. Just wondering if there is much room for future expansion though? I know initial plans for the park had a special area designated 'future expansion area'. However, I think this area has now been taken up by the Sky Coaster unfortunately. Even though it looks like there are a couple of blank areas, I understand there are planning restrictions related to heritage and trees etc.
  22. Yes I think that will definitely be the case... I actually thought it was quite obvious. If you look at some other versions of this ride overseas, there is usually a bridge or path over the bottom of the drop.
  23. I actually think the slides look way better from the bird's eye view perspective in the nearmap images. That should mean they translate well to a park map. Has slightly eased my anxiety over colours. I think just seeing the park overall puts it all into perspective too
  24. Thanks for the nearmaps Gazza!! And LOL at reanimated35! Says it all. Mind you, I have no issue with bright colours for waterslides. Just think there should be some strategy
  25. I've just figured out a way the bizarre colour scheme could be justified, using an Aussie beach theme: The blue of the tornado wave could be themed around an actual ocean wave; the red and orange of the tornado alley could be a sunset setting over the beach; and the tornado itself could be themed to a beach umbrella... cause thats kinda what it looks like with that colour pattern. Oh, and the bowling alley could be themed to represent the surf life-saving caps. I know, I'm getting desperate.
