  1. Its definitely Green Lantern, hence the unexplained cinematic delay from sister company Village Roadshow, putting the DVD release right around the same time this ride opens. Also despite its under performing box office in the US, Green Lantern 2 got an official green light the week prior to its Australian release. By placing Green Lantern at the front of the park it establishes the area with the beginnings of a nice little Justice League theme, which no doubt will expand in early 2012. Why hide the new attraction in a sound stage or rear of the park? The product placement on this one is as promotionally brilliant as when Superman's iconic red track emeraged above the park entrance -- it makes for one powerful billboard for passers by.
  2. I too tried to figure it out. It was a very good use of the inside space. It was easy to follow the layout in and around the racked seating but once it switched back into the old stage space I lost track. There were so many turns in there towards the end, it was dizzying. I did favour the Freddy layout moreso than the other two mazes. I look forward to seeing what light djrappa can shed on it in the future.
  3. Its my understanding that the Tech crews and lighting director are stretched pretty much as it is, working endlessly across all the parks. MW was pretty much entirely relit in the week leading up to HFN. The lighting looked great, particularly around the ride entrances and Rio where themed lighting isnt generally required.
  4. The report was presented in a negative light as you identified on MC. I am not claiming that changes were made because of this, but they are now more aware of how the properties are presented publically. Themeparksgc you mistake 'grudge' for 'servere disappointment in declining presentation standards' since your opening and later Movieworld's in the early 90's. I do support all the recent park additions, even TOTII is an innovative and creative relaunch for an established ride, certainly reinvigorated my interest in an older attraction at DW -- and to throw this thread back on topic, I do love that MW is investing in movie related mazes and upping the anti on their Halloween offerings (even if they are still to reach potential), it is a move forward, that I hope is repeated beyond the seasonal attractions.
  5. Universal has studio experience which it draws upon. Whilst the Orlando property has been developing HHN for many years, USH abandoned the concept for a good number of years and only recently brought it back (as little as 6years ago). My comments are only impartial in that I have personally experienced higher quality shows and have them as a point of comparison. I had a great time at Fright Nights and it is leading MW Halloween events in a positive direction for the future. I do agree with you that the event is well worth the money; and its progressive pricing structure is a fair reflection of what it offers. I was similarly impressed to see the attendance remain high well into the night, despite adverse conditions and 9pm ride closures. It was the sheer number of people still in park and enjoying themselves at this point of the evening that lead to the comment regarding the further need for more Halloween content. In regards to the MC thread, I have no regrets in highlighting bad show elements that have always frustrated me in Aussie parks, even as an employee. Dreamworld makes point of referencing the fact that they keep all retail stores, even in under performing areas of the park, open during operating hours because that is one of the most commen feedbacks they get from visitors in comparison to the competition down the road. The MC thread has been seen by WVTP management promtply lead to positive improvements within the parks (inside one week). The point of posting photos that present the park in a negative light was to show that by passing off services like this to guests during operation hours is bad publicity as all guest photos have the potential to spread the parks reputation around the globe.
  6. I was left underimpressed by the mazes. They are a huge step forward for Movieworld, but they are not what is offered at HHN. Universal's mazes leave guests cowering on the floor; crawing to safety and in tears! My partner was so scared by our last trip to HHN that we ended up requiring a security escort to exit the park early. Needless to say she no longer trusts me on the topic of anying horror/scary. She wont watch any film even remotely classified within the genre and wasnt interested in attending Fright Nights. That being said, she would have easily coped with this years MW mazes and scareactors. Needless to say it is nice to see the American influence making its way back into WVTP. The park did look very good with the atmospheric elements and lighting. The rain whilst adding to the atmosphere, may have played some part in lessening the overall Halloween feel across the entire park -- I felt that once the early ride closures came into place there was empty areas of the park with the mazes concentrated at the rear of the property. Also, Revenue closed some stores earlier than anticipated due to the adverse conditions, which some guests did make comment on, which would have helped liven up the front of the park. I think next year they need to impliment scarezones as is standard overseas. In addition to the mazes, the scarezones will help spread the horror entertainment across the park and avoid the dull quiet zones that eventuated towards Hells Gate, The Fountain and Main Street after 9pm. After years of requesting, it was good to see chainsaws used in scare tactics; but the photo ops ruined the effect. I didnt catch last years Motor Cross show, but Zombie MotoX did prove a highlight for me this year. It was very reminiscent of the Slaughter World overlay of Universal's Waterworld. With all the right elements, action, zombies and sexploitation. The addition of more language and some physical blood effects are my only suggestions for improvement to the show. @Dylaan last night guests were admitted to the start of Main Street prior to normal park closing. They were actually 5-10mins late (according to the advertised 6pm) opening the rest of the Halloween event.
  7. Blast from the past this thread. Look at how good this park was between its opening and 1999. Looks like by its 10th birthday it was going down hill with the start of the replacement of all attractions in sight, the culling of everthing to do with a film related them... oh and caping it off by blatent out of theme additions like the horrible roof.
  8. I'll be on the Disney Dream Nov/Dec next year. Not really near its maiden voyage, but looking forward to it all the same
  9. Im looking forward to seeing the relaunch. Also, I second the comments about theming... DW needs a bit more cohesion around the place. Get in now and fix it, because MW down the road has been loosing all the themeing advantages they ever had in recent years.
  10. Agree with GoGoBoy, lets hope this marks the return of proper ride theming for not just WVTP, but Australia in general.
