  1. You do hear of a lot of older people going on these ships to die. Only had one death on the cruises I've been on. A crew member washing the windows on the bridge and slipped as he was climbing over the rails, fell to the ground. Horrible sight.
  2. Got my free ride for Sunday afternoon. Might even venture into Wet n Wild for the first time in the morning and take advantage of the cheaper entry fee.
  3. Seems to be the thing for every cruise. I haven't been able to experience Dawn, only Jewel. IMO I just feel Carnival seems to offer more value for money in terms of on board entertainment and food options. Seems I was just unlucky with the crowd on the last two P&O cruises. At the end of the day both lines have their pros and cons, either way they can be an affordable and relaxing holiday option which I recommend every one try at least once.
  4. Maybe I just had an unusual amount of rough people on my last two P&O cruises with a small group being kicked off at the first port of call. Looking forward to hearing about your trip Skeet.
  5. Highly recommend it. Stay away from P&O, it attracts "certain" people. Food was great, alcohol prices were reasonable (imported beer is cheaper over domestic) and entertainment was awesome, especially the comedy club. If Dylan Holton is still performing at the time of the year I definitely advise you go to his show one night too, amazing voice and talent. I will say that customer service isn't as good as other cruise lines. Some of the wait staff in the dinning room were shocking, bar staff on the lido deck not interested and room stewart not replacing beach or bath towels. All in all superior over P&O and a lot to do. Go for the 10 or 12 night cruise.
  6. No idea. The times you didn't jump you would hear the latch try and release only to have the actually trap door drop a few mil.
  7. Just came back from a cruise on the Carnival Spirit and experienced something very odd. The aqua-loop on board seemed to struggle to open the trap door to anyone over 80kg. So much to the point where operators were advising to jump when the countdown got to 1. With myself being well under the 130kg weight restriction the door would rarely open unless I jumped. Having ridden many of these across the globe I have never experienced this. Maybe it is just in need of some maintenance?
  8. Does Disney ever have a quiet day anymore? I remember going in February 2008 it was basically a ghost town. I've visited the park multiple times at different times of the year since then and can't seem to get just one where it was quiet. Even living up in Calgary we'd fly down in its off season a few times and never got a quiet day. Knott's on the other hand is a different story. I love hearing peoples reaction to twisted colossus. Easily my favourite ride at the park now. Thanks for sharing!
  9. Work hard and save your $$$ I must say after seeing the media event for Knott's ghost town I think a trip will have to happen this year to check it all out. And to give Disney's new ride a go.
  10. Unfortunately I just feel it is going to be a lost cause - again I will gladly be wrong! It was rough when I rode it in 2008, but still enjoyable, it got slightly rougher in 2011 but again still enjoyable, 2012-2013 new year it was still enjoyable, September 2013 it was closed, October 2014 is was closed and August 2015 it was hell! If it is open when you go @downunder be sure to give us a review.
  11. * Hybrid. But yeah I'm fully aware. As I said I was there on its second last day of operation, which RMC was shooting what looked to be promotional footage. It will be interesting to see if the work GCI does will improve the ride. Fingers crossed.
  12. I must admit Wild Beast at Canada's Wonderland rode pretty good for it's age. It was very nostalgic riding it but I never really realised how small Bush Beast was. Correct me if I am wrong but I remember in 2013 it was closed for a while getting work done on the track? I agree with Alex, I don't think it is year operations that make them bad. Roar at Discovery Kingdom was a fantastic ride, I rode it on its 2nd last day, so 19 years old and couldn't fault it. Spotted the RMC guys there as well.
  13. Worst for me would have been Gwazi at Busch Gardens... good riddance. Unfortunately Ghost Rider at Knott's is getting very similar to Gwazi. I absolutely loved that ride, until 4 months ago. It just threw me around too much and destroyed my lower back. I can't really pick a favourite. Everything offers something completely different. Twisted colossus though... wow!
  14. I was never really a fan of the show at Discovery Kingdom, one thing I did notice is the tigers would often get their claws stuck in the wire fencing and freak out a little. However it did draw the crowds, and I must say it being that close to the animals was unique in its own way. I do agree with everyone above me though and feel the current open viewing is much nicer.
  15. Me personally have always liked the way the village was. Don't forget Oceangirl that it is themed around a ghost town and I think adding may take away from it. It has been a few years since I have been on it so I am unaware of the state it is in. One thing I would have always liked is maybe some interaction on the train bridge when the dynamite explodes.
  16. Several nights in Vegas? No way, 4 TOPS if you have the skills to cram. El-loco is worth a visit, however it is very short and expensive, $12 a ride I believe unless you stay at Circus ($6). If you do go to Vegas and miss out on tickets for a Cirque show go see Absinthe, heck see it before a cirque show! It's in a tent at Caesers and only seats about 70 people, you do have to be 18+ to see it.
  17. I got to spend some time at Sea World last Wednesday night for the 2016 Waverunner release, is that cool? lol Got to see the new superjets in action for the jet stunt extreme show
  18. Looks like a great trip. I purchased a platinum pass for Cedar Fair three weeks ago and hit up Cedar Point, Kings Island and Canada's Wonderland. I'm really busy at the moment but you've convinced me to get around to doing a report, especially to let everyone know about The Beast at Kings Island. I'm driving from Calgary to LA in a month and hitting up Playland, Silverwood, Enchanted Forest, Wild Waves, Raging Waters, Discovery Kingdom, California's Great America and the obvious in LA (knotts, sfmm, disney, legoland, universal) so I'll do all the trip reports at that time along with West Edmonton Mall and Calaway Park.
  19. Pretty normal really. Adventure Cove on Sentosa Island had 1.5 hour long queues when I was there, it was during the middle of the week, school was in and there was no public holiday. Luckily the tickets were cheap though.
  20. I completely agree. Hopefully things will improve in the future. I'm heading out on the 19th so I guess I'll get to see if it really is what people say it is.
  21. I don't think it has to do with hype. Lots of people say the slides are great (what they manage to get on). The pattern of complaints seems to be poor organisation, excessive costs, no signage, and of course crowds, not much you can do about crowds though. I am still unsure why they aren't open on weekdays out of school holidays though.
  22. I feel as though the park is earning a bad rep for itself, from the people I speak to, trip reports I see on here, reviews on travel websites and even news articles! While I am typing I may as well ask if anyone knows the height requirements for the Wet n Wild Junior slides? My sister would like to take her son (almost 3) and since he has to pay no matter what to get in she would like to make sure he can actually enjoy some slides.
  23. I haven't had the chance to get there yet. I was planning on going after school holidays but only to find out the park is only open on weekends! A bit ridiculous considering it's a seasonal park. Anyway, which slides would recommend a 'must do' so I can get on those first thing in the morning?
