Tower of Terror Closing Down More Frequently
Spotty replied to Dreamworld Ride Op's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The average launch speed for the Tower of Terror is 156kph, It is running at 159kph right now from what I have been told. While 3km may not seem like much, it is enough to send it about 10m higher. -
It didn't say that when I was there but oh well.

Theres a single rider line? There wasn't one there yesterday?

Tower of Terror Closing Down More Frequently
Spotty replied to Dreamworld Ride Op's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Original, the Tower of Terror is indeed going higher than it normally does. On Tuesday the "You reached ... KPH" sign was WORKING... but as of today it's not again I have heard several things from various people, but I'm not 100% as to how valid they are. But from what they have told me, they could be doing some minor upgrades to theming (lighting and smoke machines) and the 2nd rumor I have heard (and am leaning towards) is the installation of Air Conditioning / Fans throughout the queue line. Which could be why it's only closed for one day instead of several. -
In regards to the Stingray maintenance, it should be re-opening soon, the ride is back in place minus the stingray part. I was there today.

Derwan, First sorry for the late reply, but in regards to the Wipeout's sequence being changed, it has indeed been modified slightly when it went down for maintenance about 2 months ago. The sequence itself hasn't changed much at all, just the arm speeds sped up / slowed down accordingly. I noticed it when riding it for the first time in a few months about 3 weeks ago, that during the middle section of the ride the flipping is alot more abrupt and intense. I have since asked a few of my contacts about it and there has indeed been some MINOR changes made to it to give it that little bit more of a kick.

Dracula's new 2007 Haunted House Attraction
Spotty replied to mattcrombie's topic in Theme Park Discussion
A 6 out of 10 is a fairly average rating, if he had said it was crap and rated it a 8 out of 10, then it would be contradicting what he said. He was basically implying it was good, but it wasn't as good as he had expected or didn't meet his expectations. I'm not in any major hurry to visit this attraction. I have been past it 2 or 3 times, and I opted to do Infinity with my mates because I at least knew it was worth my money and they wouldn't walk out disappointed. (And they didn't) -
Do you mean the DVD that only sparingly works
-
The train currently on the tracks is the red "Cornball Express" Train, the green one has been taken fully apart and down to the metal frame. I even noticed when at the park yesterday the operator was referring to the train as the "Cornball Express"

WOW looks great Richard, keep it up. I cant wait to see the end result

Next Screamworld is on 25th January.
Spotty replied to dreamworld_rulz's topic in Theme Park Discussion
No, you don't get a discount being a MAX ACTION PASS holder, I remember when it was still 30 dollars that MAP holders got it for 25 dollars or something like that. I may be heading down there, i'm not sure yet. -
Hmm... that shouldn't happen... and WWW Fan, seems like someone liked my signature It's not a problem you having it though Chaos, I really do like your ideas for Dreamworld, I was down at the park today, and just imagining all that stuff you suggested being real

I don't really MIND the theming of the Cyclone, sure it doesn't really have that much to do with a cyclone (but at least they tried to make it like a cyclone research facility) they could have just had you line up under a big circus tent (or those queue canvas's like on RCT2) But they at least made it look SOMEWHAT interesting. But for me thats not what I don't like about the ride, for me it's rather un-eventful compared to even the corkscrew. It just meanders around the corners and has 2 loops that it travels through so slow there is barley any force. Combine that with the roughness that the ride is known for, and that would be the reason most people don't like it. Not because of the lack of theming, there IS theming, It just doesn't have a storyline like the rest of the rides at Movie World. If they had enclosed the stairwells that you exit from, and made it look similar to the old queue line but half wrecked... and themed the station, it would have been alot better.
-
He's talking about capacity Ash, and the Motocoaster would probably have to have the highest capacity of any ride at Dreamworld, which is still nothing compared to when Superman: Escape runs 2 trains down the road
-
^ Hey... it's not my fault I have a phobia, I think it's just the fact of being enclosed at such heights that gets me.
-
And Yeah... considering I have a Ferris Wheel fear... I think i'll be fine on the Sea World Eye (Now... that has GOT to be the scariest ride on the Gold Coast for me!)
-
Oooh... i may have to fork out the dough for WnW This weekend then, Just to see Hairspray again on the Big Screen! I'm just a bit obsessed with that movie
-
Sadly for that to happen, they will need to do ALOT of work to make it happen, I.E Transfer Track, New Brakes, not to mention re-programming the computer. But as i'm sure i've said before... alot of the issues with the Cyclone cycle being so long is the station brakes, how they stop and start several times, taking up to a minute to park. If they fixed that problem, it would make the load / unload times alot quicker, and once they sort out the queue system, MAYBE they would reach that magic 500 peeps per hour it supposedly gets through...

Paul, with the wooden stairs, i mean the ones inside the skull, not where the elevators are... Next time I am down at dreamworld, i will take some pics of the Wipeout overhaul
-
I don't think the Gold Rush upgrade will happen this year, with peak season coming up but it would be VERY good to happen soon. I reckon the theming is ok there, it just needs something to do other than the rapids! If they got rid of the damn chairlift station, they could fit a nice flat ride in there! Maybe something like a HUSS Rodeo or one of the following 2 rides from SBF Visa Themed to something like a Mine shaft? SBF VISA TEKNO FLY SBF VISA MAGIC BOWL

The wipeout has been like that for a few months now I think. Just to inform you guys of the EXTENT of this upgrade to the wipeout, these are the changes that have happened... New Harnesses Beach Retheme, including the removal of the fountains and replacing it with a dock, moving the ocean parade footpath back, making more room on the beach, which may mean that the dock could be used for performances? The Wave has been re-painted Water Drained and painted water effect under the ride. Gondola Repaint New bag holders So it seems as though they are wanting to do some major work to the ride. And on another note, in the Tower Of Terror Queue line, the very noisy metal stairs have been removed, and replaced with more sturdy wooden stairs. and who knows, the reason that the ToT may be closed on the 19th is to do a clean up or put new Air Con in the queue line? I will say i'm starting to have some faith in Dreamworld again if they keep these upgrades going, and do it on a PARK WIDE basis.

I wouldn't think so, as he could just move the forum databases over to the new site (hopefully) but i'm not 100% on that Aidan

Richo, I'll also be happy to test Parkz out, and it's really looking great so far! I cant wait to see it fully done! Keep up the great work Richard!
