You know, I'd be happy with anything (with the exception of a show). Even something like a giant huss flat ride would get me excited! But the fact that a fair few people on this site seem to have heard things from those 'above them' gives this latest news some credibility worth getting excited over..... I hope Wonderland releases some info soon, even just a few tid-bits. That's one thing I've noticed with some American parks, like Cedar Point. They will promote their coasters or rides and its construction as far as six months in advance....Wouldn't this be better to build knowledge of it to the public?

Ok, now I'm getting excited

From what I've seen it had a lot of animal environments, with tiger models etc. Angus and Robertson or Dymocks might be able to order it via the web. Or big chains, such as Borders may be able to get it in. I know, book stores couldn't find mine when I tried to get it, so it might be best to try the publishers to find out if it's still in print: Chapter & Verse 18 Mitchell Street McMahons Point NSW 2060 Hope this helps

There are some great photos of the River Caves and descriptions in a book I have (details of it at the end). The River Caves was a water boat ride (Think Tunnel Of Love). It was huge with people who went on dates to the park (private time alone in the dark). It consisted of travelling through all sorts of themed environments. Most of them were constructed with chicken mesh, plaster, paint and horse hair in the early days. They had animal environments, rainforest style environments, toy shops etc. It was basically an early version of Disney's 'Small Small World' attraction. If you can get a copy of this book, it is the most complete history of Luna Park in Melbourne VIC, Glenelg SA, and Sydney NSW that I know of. I got mine from the Luna Park Shop when Sydney was open but some book stores may be able to order it in. The book that has heaps of information is, "Luna Park - Just For Fun" by Sam Marshall 1995. It was published for the Luna Park Reserve Trust by Chapter & Verse. It's a must if you're interested in a detailed history of the place and it's rides.

Welcome I can tell you the rough figures that I know off-hand. As for prices, www.rcdb.com has prices listed for some coasters. Park press releases sometimes have the amounts listed (Never Six Flags for some strange reason). Hyper Coasters - Usually around $US 12 million. (I've read these were the prices for Intamin's Superman hypers and B&M's Raging Bull). Giga Coasters - Millennium Force was $US 25 million. Intamin Rocket Coasters - Xcellerator $US 13 million, Top Thrill Dragster $US 25 million. B&M Flyer - Air was 12 million pounds. Steel Loopers can very quite a bit depending on length. Other people may have other costs, or more accurate ones. Like I said these are just approximates as far as I know.....

lol. Sorry I would just be really disappointed if we waited all this time for another show. As in the case of Action Man Lives. The land that Hanna Barbera Land was on was borrowed? I thought you said they were planning to expand the Wildlife Park onto it?!? :?

Is Goliath at Six Flags Holland any good?

I thought there was enough sado masochism involved in riding the Bush Beast to warrant it being renamed the Dominatrix

I've been wanting to try something like either one of these two for a while: Bomb Bay http://www.wetnwild.com/Orlando/Main/Main....SubCategoryId=1 The Storm http://www.wetnwild.com/Orlando/Main/Main....SubCategoryId=1 but what rabid described sounds like a nice addition too!

As for Sydney's Luna Park. I don't think the chances of it ever seeing another coaster look very good after the "noise problems" of the last Big Dipper (Cyclone). Maybe we will see some new flat rides at Sydney, but that's probably all we can hope for. I think Melbourne's Luna Park, on the other hand, has, if money was invested, some nice open space that could be taken up by some decent rides rather than all carnival types. Personally, I'd love the new Sydney park (which looks like it will focus on stores, cafe's and shows more than rides) to install a replica of the classic River Caves which was at the original park.

I agree with Richard. There have been some dramatic changes to Wonderland since the ownership changed to Sunway. While most of this has had little, or nothing, to do with ride additions, all one has to do is look at the theming in the park which is the best the park has seen in its history. The atmosphere at the park has really been lifted by this. I really can't see the logic in building a factory in the Wonderland carpark. Has management even confirmed this? From what I've heard they haven't (correct me if I'm wrong). Couldn't this construction be for something completely unrelated? The Wonderland Business Park is no secret. However, wasn't that meant to be constructed towards the opposite end of the land along the freeway side of the park? I thought that was the area which was zoned to be chosen for it?

Wonderland is offering adults at kids prices from 31 May to 1 June (This weekend) They are also offering half price Wonderpasses on the same dates: Family: $172.50 Adults: $67.50 Child: $47.50 Not a bad deal really, obviously aimed at boosting Winter attendance

There's been a lot of talk on boards about this one... Many claim that while the ride will be the highest, it won't be the tallest. http://www.coasterbuzz.com/2003-147-188480.htm (Sorry to cross post) The ride is apparently 300 feet on top of a 150 foot man-made mountain of some sort. So I guess, if this is true, Dreamworld may not have the "highest" drop ride, but it will still have the "tallest" drop ride.

In terms of attendance, would I be right to say this is probably the worst time of the year possible for Australian theme parks. So I don't think the number of people in the park is necessarilly overly negative. I know it's not many at all, but I remember similar numbers on a Saturday I went way back in 1996. It only rained until about 11, but that was enough to put people off. And that was when Space Probe was relatively new.... As for the carpark, if that is a factory that is one hell of a bad decision by the park. Talk about lowering the atmosphere......

seaworld new attraction to open september school hoildays
Psycho replied to Ian's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Hmmm....... I was kind of hoping if Australian parks were to get any new 3D attraction from overseas it would be RL Stine's Haunted Lighthouse: 4D from the Busch Gardens parks -
Dreamworld's touch on their web site....... "Dreamworld Powers On!" - All rides and attractions at Dreamworld are fully operational, except the Blue Lagoon water park which is routinely closed for winter. With Big Brother in full swing, Dreamworld is a 2 day experience. 2nd Day Passes are only $10! Is this just ensuring that the public knows they're not affected by the ride rotation changes or are they getting a bit dirty in the marketing dept?

It didn't look like the original Superman logo....Simple red with no yellow lining like the typical one has..... So it's possible that it's for a new film......
-
Out of curiosity, during the new MW ads "What is Warner Bros Movie World?" they show the Superman emblem. Is this a sign of something to come or am I reading way too much into it?

How does De ja' Veu compare to a standard bommerang?
Psycho replied to inTIMidated's topic in Theme Park Discussion
i'd be interested to hear someones opinion on the giant boomerangs....assuming someone has found one that's actually open! -
Sorry, my mistake

Fred Flintstone's Splashdown is still standing in its old position..... I don't know if it will be relocated
-
Great photos! I haven't been to Dreamworld in a while, so I haven't seen the new Ocean Parade re-theming....But it looks great. Isn't Thunderbolt the only ride in that area now that doesn't match the theme?? If so, would this be an indication it may not be there much longer?
-
hmmm i dont think ill be convinced until i see something actually begin to appear. lets face it, this park has a long history of big talk with little action

Where was this info confirmed or announced?
