lol that bin is awesome! I could just imagine someone going up to it and then the bin yelling at them as they open the lid . I wouldn't mind one of those at my house actually! Well back on topic. Being one of those people who were really against the idea of the roof, and hated it from the first rumour, I was pleasently suprised when I saw it in person last week. For people like me who also thought this was a very bad idea, head down to Movieworld and check it out. The pictures of it don't do it justice. As for the atmosphere, it hasn't been altered at all. IMO the roof actually suits Main Street better. Because now it look like a movie set. The only differences that I noticed is that it's a little louder when there are shows, cause everything echoes (but that should be fixed easily) and there is no sun (which is a good thing on a 28 degree day!). However, as said before, it does look a bit bland and hopefuly they dress it up a bit. Here is a pic that I took down Mainstreet: http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/AU/Gold_Coas...reet_Roof_.html

The Official Jet Rescue construction thread
WalleyWorld replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Woah! Vertical construction already? When is this supposed to be finished by, does anyone know?? It looks like it's going to be a good coaster. But only time will tell. I rode the Motorcoaster at Dreamworld last week for the first time. My general thought was: FAILURE. The launch, first turn and first hill was good, but after that.... I was just like, did i mistake this for the Runaway Reptar Coaster?? Final comments: It's a family coaster, no way is it a thrill ride. At least WVTP's hasn't stated that it's a 'thrill ride' yet, like Dreamworld did, and then the ride turned out to be a family coaster . From the 2 pics I don't think you can really tell what the layout is going to be like, but that last turn into the brakes looks more tighter, as said before. Who knows it could turn out like another moto-coaster, which is all we need! Random question, how fast are the launches going to be on the Jet Rescue coaster?? Will it be any faster than the MDMC's. When you think about it there is only one good 'thrill/extreme' rollercoaster in Australia at the moment (Superman). The rest are either too slow, rough or outdated *cough* TOT *cough* . 2 things I want from a coaster are consistant speed and smoothness. My favourtie coasters in Australia would have to be Corkscrew and Superman Escape cause of their smoothness and consistant fast speeds. And that's all I hope from this new coaster. -
^lol I happened to get to the attraction on Sunday. It's situated in the abandoned Blue Lagoon area, and they have used the function centre i'm pretty sure for the walkthough. As for the attraction itself I thought it was pretty good for a temporary ride. I was in the front in my group, so I got scared nearly all the time . The sets were REALLY good. The only other 'temporary scary walkthough attraction' I have been to was Prison Break Live at Luna Park in Melbourne. The set was really bad, it consited of fog, strobe lights on constantly and a maze, with like 6 actors. Compared to prison break, The Mummy was really good. And as said before the actors made the spots that weren't up to scratch really good. Made the trip to DW a little better .

Back on topic with the new ride, I've been going past W'nW for the past 3 days (on holidays, doing all the themeparks with my family, except W'n'W ) and I still haven't taken a pic from the bus yet. I'll get one on Thursday, going to DW. The whole ride is up, both slides are up I'm pretty sure and the tower. The slide is white with bright blue side gards, so u don't fly off the sides. And the tower is painted....urgghh, makes sick every time i think of the colour. Is painted BRIGHT RED. The whole tower, stairs, supports, everything RED . At least now they are getting a bit more adventurous with colours they use to paint their slides. Other than the combination of white, blue, green, yellow and black. As i said i'll try and get a pick from the bus tomoz.

Who will be the new Dreamworld CEO?
WalleyWorld replied to TheMightyBoosh's topic in Theme Park Discussion
lol really? That means I was at the park on the same day . Up on holidays for 8 days, from Melbourne, what about u? This is interesting. Even though there have been some good decisions made by the past CEO's, WWW, Claw, Nick Central (as said before), there have also been some real stinkers: The silent removal of the Mine Ride, the addition of the Motor Coaster (actually rode it for the first time on Sunday and thought it was alright, BUT could have been SO much better and ALOT faster), the addition of the Flowrider, the list goes on. To the whole Cyclone discussion, I think it was a great addition. Mabey not the most extreme coaster, but it looks great at the front of the park and now with the intergration of WWW, it looks alot better, and gets people talking about DW. Probably even making people decide to visit the park. I'm looking forward to see what rides will come in the future. Hopefully something to fix the gap between the front of the park and the back of the park (e.g. Rivertown, Australian Outback Experience) -
Oh, I remember this ride. Pretty sure i went on it on the first trip to Movieworld. lol And I was also really scared . I think the Gremlins looked really creepy, that's why all the kids got scared. Especially when in the first room where the Gremlins were on ladders and they swang down towards the car. If I remember correctly I cried through the whole ride after that part . I also remember that the carriges looked really weird; sorta looked like sleighs. Wouldn't you say that the Lonney Tunes River Ride is a dark ride? On a side note, why are there sooo many rides in the WVTP's that are basically copied over into the Germany Movieworld???? (seaworld and movieworld mainly) Like the video that Ash posted, that was a video of the gremlins ride in Germany, but there was also one in our Movieworld. Does anybody know how they are able to copy the rides from our parks?
-
Yer, I'm actually looking forward to this. It sounds heaps better than Prison Break Live, and i thought that was pretty scary for a walkthrough attraction. I think if it's actually gonna have a storyline to it, it's gonna be pretty good. It will probs be a 'ride once' thing though. After the first time you'll always know where the scare spots are, so what's the point?? I'm heading up to DW on the 14th of sept, or around then. I'll take some pics while i'm there. And yer to sum it up, I'm actually looking forward to this attraction !!
-
Hey, since we are on the topic of SE at the moment (well slightly off topic ), I'm heading up to MW in around 1 week and a bit, flying up on the 13th of Sept. I'm just wondering how long the lines are for Superman around this time (before gold coast school holidays)?? I really want to get at least 3 rides, rather than 1 last year , so i wanna plan the other rides around it, thanks.
-
Well if somebody doesn't get them before the 13th of Sept, then I'll have some for you. Cause i'm heading up the gc in a week an a bit (I hope it's all up by then, fingers crossed!). Going to MW and the other parks, so I'll be able to get loads of pics for the Parkz database. Really?!? That's interesting. What exactly do you mean by 'train station sound effects'?? Is it like a sound of the cars rattling as they move out of the station??
-
So are you saying that I can just go to the operators of the ride and ask if I can take the camera on the ride, and if they say yes I can take it on?? Ok so i could take it on scooby-doo yer?? Considering they tell u to take your bags on with u. I think u could take it on a lot of rides that are sedate enough, even rides like the tower of terror u could i guess, it's not that bad. Same with the claw, you probs could, becuase there really aint any jolting movments. It's really just how 'wild' the ride is.

I was on W'n'W's myfun website just know and on the page it has the Kamakaze news that we all know about, but it also has a picture of the type of tubes that u are going to ride on. It's down the bottom of the page. MYFUN LINK I think they look kinda stupid if u ask me and weird . They look like u are riding couch chairs. Here is a screenshot:

Buying a World Pass + the Take Two Pass
WalleyWorld replied to WalleyWorld's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Sorry, my last post was kinda hard to read lol. But yer I was thinking of getting the extra day at Dreamworld AFTER the 2 days between dw and www. And I think the the last time that we did that pass, we had to show our tickets just after we went through the admission bulding, in this little office area (this is in dreamworld btw). Where we had to sign a little card, which became our ticket. -
k, so I'm heading up to the Gold Coast in 3 weeks, and my parents are still organising tickets to the themeparks. We are deciding to go to Movieworld, Dreamworld and Whitewaterworld. So in our case we are picking up a World Pass as well as the one day ticket to MW. So that's all worked out, but i also want to go back to DW for another day. I'm pretty sure they still have that offer, were if u pay $10 ontop of your entry fee to get your second day at DW, which is called the 'The take two pass'. However, we are getting a World Pass, so my question is: will they allow me to come back for a second day, after paying $10 ontop of a WORLD PASS. I know it will work with a general admission for dw, i've done it before, but not too sure about it with the WP.

Just to let everybody know that news on the roof has been posted on Movieworlds section on Myfun.com.au - LINK I don't think there is anything new said about the roof, that we don't know about. But they do state how much area it covers: 4000sqm. That's a huge area, when u think about it. And also that it will be finished by September. And to put and end to the arguments about what it will be used for , read the article!! It's been built to protect crowds from the bad weather, make a difference to the halloween nights and help out with private and coporate functions. They say it's now the 2nd largest event/function venue on the Gold Coast. I guess if u don't mind having it in the middle of mainstreet with tables and chairs in rows, then u have got a BIG party venue. Here is the article if u can't be bothered going to the website:

Breaking news: Village to buy Aussie World
WalleyWorld replied to GoGoBoy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
WOW this is really exciting news!! The lineup of rides seems to be a lot better than WWW's (as Gazza said already). What i'm really looking forward to is going to another part of Australia for a quality themepark experience, even if it's still in Queesnland . FINALLY!!!!!, a turbo tunnel and a Whitewater west Boomerango I've wanted w'n'w or www to get one of these 2 slides ever since i found out about them. I also like the themeing concept for this waterpark. It's like an Australian outback style, am i right? The slides being built into the natural landscape will also make it feel different to a normal waterpark. This is probably the best news that has come out of australia's thempark industry this year. Can't wait for more updates. -
hahahah, it looks like the magnetic brakes just popped up before the launch!! . That would have been a weird feeling, getting launched, and hitting brakes at the same time . Anyway, for the people who didn't get to see Hamish & Andy ride SE on Rove the other night, somebody uploaded a vid onto youtube with all the fun they had ,CHECK IT OUT HERE Ohh and another question, have anybody been to MW in September, the week before the Queesnland school holidays?? I'd like to know what times you have waited for Superman, cause last year, the day I went, we ended up waiting an hour . Just wanted to see what everybody else has waited? CoAsTeR TeeN
-
On that note about Get Smart, The actors/stars of that movie were on ROVE. They are not in the studio but at MW. The best thing about it is they've got Hamish and Andy riding SE for the whole show, last time I checked they were up to 15 times. What makes things even funnier is that they have to eat a hotdog or drink a milkshake before each run !! Sorry, if this was a bit off topic, check it out though. CoAsTeR TeeN

Sorry about the pictures/scans, when i get some time at the end of the week I'll post them up. I want to get a could quality pic up, so i'll need to scan them. I got exams this week so don't expect them until friday, and i don't think i'll be able to get the stupid scanner up and working tonight. Sorry for the delay . CoAsTeR TeeN

lol, ok ! My collection is a lot like Gazza's, with a whole lot of park maps, brochures and other random stuff. However, when I was looking through my theme park related stuff and i came across a really interesting article that i remember getting from my uncle. It was in a FHM magazine (I think it was that, or a mag that has the same stuff in it lol ). Off course my uncle didn't allow me to have the whole magazine, I was only around 10 or 12, I can't really remember . Anyway, the article was on rollercoasters, and had a count down of the most extreme, tallest, longest, fastest. The funny thing is now that I'm in my teens, I realised how ironic it was for an article with that name to be in a FHM magazine . The article has some really good pictures, including pics of Top Thrill Dragster and Millenium Force, and many other coasters in Europe. However, none from Australia . But the best bit in the article was techniquely FROM Australia. There is an article (included with the other photos of the article i have uploaded) called "Why are Australia's so crappy?". And no other but the famous Richard Wilson, is the one dishing out the answers to FHM !!!! Go on check it out yourself, it's for real! Oh and I wouldn't mind if Richard could comment on how he got to be in the magazine CoAsTeR TeeN

The Official Jet Rescue construction thread
WalleyWorld replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Um i'm sorry Peter, but i highly doubt this is true . First of all i'd like to know who you managed to get this information from?? And secondly, have you read through this thread?? For nearly half the thread people have been suggesting, and even nearly proving that it will be a simular rollercoaster to MDMC. Where you stradle a seat or sit on a jet-ski type car. Some even thinking it's going to be an Aqua Trax by Intamin. If i remember correctly, someone also posted up a comment that said that Sea World's new coaster will be low to the ground. I highly doubt that a B&M dive machine is 'low to the ground'. CoAsTeR TeeN -
This sounds like a another good reason to go to Dreamworld this September! Although it's more of a kiddy ride than a thrill-ride. I thought it was going to be one of the big ones that you see in most carnivals (LINK, OR, LINK). However, it looks like a smaller - kiddy version (you can find a video of it if you go to the Zamperla website and search for kite flyer. It will be a good addition for Nick Central, and will definately bring in the kids, if Dreamworld promotes it properly. IMO it looks more of a crowd puller than Mick Doohan's MC as it is targeted at a family audience BECASUE IT'S A FAMILY RIDE (and not doing the oposite and calling it a thrill ride!!). It's also the first family ride in Australia that has the experience of flying, so that will pull the crowds. Thanks Spotty for posting this up, and please keep us updated on the construction side of things. I'm still wondering where the ride is going to be placed?? Could somebody mark it out on a google earth image or something, cause the ride has a decent footprint for an area with hardly no room. CoAsTeR TeeN

African Safari World: New Village Theme Park
WalleyWorld replied to rosscoe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well before i answer some questions, I'll just say some interesting stuff about today's news. This news was really big today in Melbourne. Made Herald Sun front page, first sentence heard on all radio stations during the day and I also heard an interview with John Menzies (CEO of Village Roadshow - i think that's right??). The interview was quite short, and I'm sorry i couldn't record it for u guys lol . It was on a station called 3 aw. I'm not sure if everyone has heard of this station, but it's basically a talk back station, anyway they chatted with Menzies, and one of the radio hosts didn't like the fact that there would have to be government funding. As the government funding would be coming directly from the tax payer, the radio host didn't like it. However, he was for the idea of the themepark, but just didn't like where the funding was coming from. A couple of people rang up and said basically the same thing. I SAY STUFF THEM, I WANT A THEMEPARK!! lol Anyway, on the news tonight it was first story, they had a couple of shots from animal kingdom, b&m coasters, the open range zoo, the gold coast themeparks, many other rides and themeparks and also talks with the the tourism minister for Victoria. He liked the idea alot which is VERY good. Ok, onto the questions: Well no not on sunrise, but in the Herald Sun there was a drawing of the whole park. Which is attached down the bottom. It looks really good, but it doesn't show all the finer details. But OMFG, there seems to be something looking like a B&M Vertical Drop coaster. I won't go into detail about the picture, i'll let the rest of you get stuck into it! hahahaha thanks. Well when construction starts and we know a little bit more about this project, I'll see what I can do. I live only around 1/2 and hour away, so it shouldn't be that hard to get down there. To give you a straight answer, yes i would love to be your construction photo updater lol. CoAsTeR TeeN EDIT: People finally got off home cpu. Here you go, fresh off the press lol: -
African Safari World: New Village Theme Park
WalleyWorld replied to rosscoe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Just to let everybody know, that this news is like headline in Melbourne today. I heard it on a couple radio stations, and it was even showed on Sunrise on Channel 7 this morning. Looks like it's really serious! CoAsTeR TeeN -
African Safari World: New Village Theme Park
WalleyWorld replied to rosscoe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
OMFG WTF???!!!! . BOOOOYAAA! Finally a themepark set for Melbourne!!!, AND, the best thing about this is that I live only 1/2 and hour away from the Werribee Open Range Zoo!!!!!. Which is set to be African Safari World. I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT . Really when you think about it it's a very strange decision for Warner Village Themeparks. I mean, there are more cons than pros about setting up a park in Victoria. For example: the weather, and the population. Although, as the report said, it has potential to give tourists another reason to come down to Melbourne, especially the families. Although i think this is REALLY GREAT!!! I still have my doubts on whether this will go ahead. Look at the other movie themed park that was planned for Melbourne's Dockland's, that fell through. Well, I guess only time will tell. lol CoAsTeR TeeN P.S: Thanks rosscoe for posting this up! -
Thankyou for your help WnW Rocks! Well i didn't do it by myself, I got it done by a pro, so I think it's in good hands. I'm pretty sure the chip was the D2CKey. The guy who installed it had to put in the D2CKey because it's a later model Wii. So yer basically at this point in time there is nothing to worry about with the updating. Good cause I want to access the shop channel to buy myself the internet browser! P.S: HAVE U GOT BRAWL????!!!! Sooooooo Jealous if you do!!! :lol CoAsTeR TeeN
