Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion
Theme Park Girl replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah, my thoughts as well... with all due respect Andrewh, please lay off with all the negativity Yes, we are all very aware that you trespassed into Eureka and got a first hand look at the ride, but geez, that doesn't automatically mean that you now know everything about it and what Dreamworld intends to do with it. Yes, the ride needs a lot of work. We already knew that before you posted photos. Friendly conversations with Dreamworld staff members can be very informative sometimes (and less intrusive than jumping fences into restricted areas) and can sometimes give insight into goings on with the park, including with the present state of rides and attractions. But unless you've had first hand discussions with the manager and/or the park CEO about the park's future, then you know just about as much as the rest of us. So feel free to speculate, but that's all you can really do as well -
It was only $8 per head for the movies last time we visited. They have deals as well But yeah I do understand the point you're trying to make, Alex. I'm sure VRTP know what they are doing, though. They would be strategically thinking this all through and following up with whats best long term for the park, so they would have to be making the costs up elsewhere for having such cheap VIP pass deals. Speaking of which, I just renewed our 2013 passes this morning after finding out that they backdate a couple of years. A little over $300 for a family of four, plus the 4x free single tickets thrown in. Bonus First time ever we have held annual passes for both VRTP & Dreamworld simultaneously, so the fam is pretty stoked Hoping to sneak in a visit somewhere to either Movieworld or Seaworld over the weekend between hubby & I's work commitments....

See all you people previously saying you would happily pay $200-$300 a pass for the theme parks obviously don't have families to cover. It's great and all if you only have to pay for 1 pass for yourself, but imagine having to cover 2 x adults and 2 x children ie. the average family. It adds up pretty fast. Obviously this is what the theme parks have in mind too, given they all strive to be a family orientated environment. Hence the "cheap" prices per head for annual passes. Same. I bought my first Movieworld year pass back in 1995 for $150, which was at a special half price deal. Yes, half price! The full price was $300, for exclusive entry to the one park only. In saying that though, I think the current annual pass prices are great, I love that they are so affordable. Especially when you have multiple ones to buy for family entry. I probably wouldn't bother if I was expected to fork out close to a grand to do so, which is what it would have been if the original pass prices were still around today. It just shits me when people have the nerve to jump on Facebook and complain that the theme park annual passes are *still* too expensive, or that it's "unfair" that you don't get a full year out of the price tag if you buy them at diff times of the year - people were whinging in this manner at Dreamworld when they were advertising annual passes in Feb that expire Xmas Eve (this year). Heck, my passes have paid for themselves 100x over already just within a couple of months of use lol. I don't understand how they can complain when they are already getting such a cheap deal to begin with :/

This. Exactly. I'd expect Dreamworld to spend many more days, months, maybe even years of extensive researching and testing Eureka before making a solid decision and following through on plans for it. It would be reckless and foolish of them otherwise to rush ahead. This isn't something they would want to be stuffing around with, given it would be the renovation of a classic ride, not the installation of a new one. No doubt there is a LOT of red tape to get through before they can even remotely consider starting any type of work on it. Yes, I do believe it will open again one day, hopefully sooner than later. This is also the opinion of many current Dreamworld staff whom I have spoken to about it. But no, I don't think anybody should be holding their breath for it. Even I am not that silly! Regardless, I will continue following the (gradual) progress of this ride with great interest -
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know who runs the "Theme Park Social Network" on Facebook? Have observed over time that they seem to have an obvious bias for the VRTP, despite having a name which suggests they cover all theme parks. They very rarely post about Dreamworld. Also they posted this morning encouraging people to visit Seaworld today, despite the fact the Gold Coast is on flood watch atm as it has been bucketing down rain non-stop. I posted a comment about how it's probably not such a good idea today but they deleted it lol. Is it run by a VRTP employee?

I don't mind the Superman coaster, but I do like the TOTII for the LED tunnel effects. Looks awesome on the way out and in again. Definitely an improvement on the original TOT.

Dreamworld 100%. In my opinion there is so much more to do there, and a lot more thrill rides! I've gotten so much more use out of my World pass than I did back when I had a VIP pass. It's my fave park hands down

Seaworlds New Kids Area Announced
Theme Park Girl replied to Cooper Olsen's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Oh finally... there's the public announcement about the new kiddy coaster & area I was posting about on here months ago lol. About time Seaworld let the cat out of that bag Although its not being built where I suspected... I thought it would be in the old corkscrew/pirate area lol. But that's where the Creatures of the Deep attraction is going, isn't it? -

Exactly my thoughts. Cheaper to fix what they have than remove altogether or fork out for a completely new coaster. Makes sense to me -
Luna Park Melbourne Trip Report
Theme Park Girl replied to AUSTHEMEPARKS's topic in Theme Park Discussion
You don't say! I visited Luna Park during my first ever trip to Melbourne last year. My best friend (a local) and I rode the Scenic Railway, a first for both of us. Anyway, he is well over 6" tall and didn't fit into the carriage very well because of his long legs. Let's just say the experience was a very negative one for him... he spent the majority of the ride in pain due to the turbulence involved with him being turbulently bumped around within a tiny carriage and went home with heavy bruising on his knees :/ I'm surprised they didn't have any height restrictions in place, at least any that would indicate that people of his height are bound to get injured, given the lack of leg room provided. Overall I was fairly disappointed with the park as well, I guess in my mind I had expected it to be a heck of a lot bigger and better, given it's famous reputation. I guess it's the Sydney one that is the only one that does live up to that :/ -

The attendant said the frog pond thing was broken, that's why it's not currently in use -

The last time I visited DW was last weekend (Sun 29th March) and the sideshow at Eureka was open for business on that particular day. I remember they had Gremlin plushies as prizes on the wall (and thinking it was odd, as Gremlins are licensed to WB lol) O_o I do agree it's odd that they wouldn't have it open during school holidays, as it would be the most lucrative time to do so. But I'm not quite convinced yet that it has permanently closed after seeing it in action recently. Not unless there's more evidence to suggest otherwise (ie. signs and props completely removed). Don't get me wrong though, I very much look forward to hearing if/when it has, as it would be another sure sign that Eureka progress is being made! -

No, they have. Usually on weekends the Eureka sideshow game thingy has been open for business. My husband is regularly bugging the attendant there (always the same dude) on whether he has seen/heard any new news lately lol -

I'd stick around and have your camera at the ready! Last time I saw them do this, I missed a live test run because I stupidly decided to jump on the rapid ride whilst there was no queue. You could be the first to grab some video footage lol -
Hmmm. I've worked in hospitality for years, in jobs which have involved waitressing... such a position has involved caerying 3 plates at once, carrying heavy piles of used plates back to the kitchen, polishing cutlery, using a touchscreen register for hours on end. Needless to say my wrists are shot and I regularly deal with pain. I also have a chronic foot injury from being my feet for hours on end during long shifts. Gee, should I be suing my employers as well for putting me in a position which has led to physical conditions and injury??? Pffft.... what a joke. If you can't handle the occupational hazards that come with a particular job, then look for something else :/
