  1. They still do it today 😁 This was in my eldest's school newsletter this week lol:
  2. For a second there I thought I had opened the wrong topic lol...
  3. Shame they aren't able to salvage those old ad vintage canvas somehow Some great Dreamworld history right there in that billboard! I could easily imagine them being auctioned off to a nostalgic theme park or Gold Coast historic collector for a small mint, which could then help the park with a much needed financial boost or donated to the DWF.
  4. True, guys. I think the obvious issue is that it's something the park wouldn't want to make a big deal of, given it has had such a disasterous impact on them and obviously very negatively publicity as a whole. Alas, on the other hand, I also fear that not addressing it at all might be seen as potentially insensitive or disrespectful, especially being the first anniversary of their passing. Heaven knows the media will likely be all over it, they never let a good opportunity for a story slide 😑 And as AlexB has said, many members of the public will likely want to visit the park to pay respects, regardless of what's organised and what's not. think it's a very tricky situation to approach, and I'm gonna assume that with the date fast approaching they will have all hands on deck to ensure its handled in the best way possible 😕 How have other major theme parks overseas handled these tragedies previously when they were a first? (I should probably do some googling out of interest...)
  5. Kinda reminds me of one of those old billboards that used to have parts that simultaneously flip over to change the image lol...
  6. Cheers for the update, @themagician. Was considering doing a quick visit over lunch to see if the Joker head had been installed yet, but clearly they are still busy getting other important things done before finishing with the aesthetics side! We will all have to keep a close eye out for the 'crowning moment' over the next day or so 😁
  7. Hard to believe it's only a couple of months now until the 1 year mark of the tragic incident at Dreamworld that changed everything as we knew it 😢 As much as I know it's far from a favourite topic to dicuss, but with the 1st anniversary of that ill-fated date on the quick approach, I can't help but wonder if Dreamworld are planning to do anything on the day, such as a memorial event for those (hopefully including the public as well) wanting to visit the park and pay respects? Obviously with TRR still standing at present it means that we don't have the previously discussed official memorial site as yet, and I realise this concept is still up in the air, pending the approval of the victims families. So I'm not sure what else could be done. Personally I like the idea of maybe having a flower drop-off spot outside the TRR Gold Rush gate if it's an option. Anyway I just wanted to bring it up to see if anyone else has thought about this, and maybe maturely discuss what possible options the park would have if they did arrange something - which I have no doubt they will, given the significance of the date and its relevance. Thoughts?
  8. Probably not, given their construction workers and operators have Sundays off. It would just be sitting there in the Logan Steel construction yard over today, anyway. At least by keeping it on site, it means they don't have to cart it back and forth and it's ready to go at 6am tomorrow when work continues
  9. Lol... fountain reaction! Given it was my initial speculation that inspired #TPSNfountaingate , should I be flattered? I'm not quite sure, haha
  10. Is Six Flags even in a financial position to continue opening new theme parks globally? Last I heard they had been struggling with bankruptcy over numerous years. Their Wikipedia page certainly doesn't show much growth over the past few years, and not much planned for the future. More park sales than anything 😮
  11. @Brad2912 I haven't seen it yet, but I have had the same assumptions as you - they are definitely gonna need that crane to get it way up there! So surely can't be far off
  12. Long time no see, guys. Hope everyone is well I too was on site at MW this morning for the placement of the final track piece, I did a live stream (or three) to my FB blog - it took about an hour or so due to wind delays. Anyway, I stuck around for a bit afterwards to grab some high quality piccies from a few other different perspectives and thought I would share them on here with you all, since today is certainly the day for it. Worker waiting patiently wayyyy up top of the lift hill staircase for the wind to die down, and the final track piece to be lifted up lol Now HERE'S a great way to get some decent view photos! Full view of the track from the rear of the carpark: GM Greg, Selena & the management team doing their live stream on site October is going to be quite the epic month! Can't wait
  13. I had a chat on site there with maintenance the other day? Take it with a grain of salt if you like, but you'll find its the most accurate info you'll get about it. I definitely wouldn't be posting if I thought it was just rumour.
  14. Well, I can confirm that the park is aiming for a September opening for the Log Ride. Some of its structure has already undergone some major refurb work, and they are in the process of giving the old girl a complete clean out and overhaul before it reopens to the public in a few months ☺️
  15. @Flynn_Smith in previous years, they have held the event on other nights. It's definitely possible.
  16. I just wish they would consider hosting it on another night. Not everyone (especially on the tourist/hospitality thriving Gold Coast) has Saturday nights free, in fact it's the one night that I'm the least available to attend, hence why I couldn't go to the last one - I was working I'd love to see a Friday or a Sunday night thrown in to allow for more attendances as a whole. Then I may be able to go as well ☺️
  17. Not at all, if anything they have demonstrating to be very playful animals! Spent a lot of time playing with their giant ball today, along with curiosity over the funny looking observers on the other side of the glass (esp when they are holding takeaway coffee cups) Was an absolute joy seeing these big fellas today, they really are magnificent beasts, and their size in real life will make your jaw drop! The tigers next door seemed like kittens in comparison. Can't wait to do a return visit to check them out again. I'm actually a bit bummed that their visit will be so brief
  18. Geez. It was intended to be a joke, @AlexB... I thought the smilies would make that obvious enough The guy has already dealt with enough past critique. Let him enjoy his moment here, he's earnt it
  19. Now why am I not surprised to read this? And see.... his rendition IS spot on!!!! Congrats @docoaster, have been a huge fan of your work from the very beginning and this opportunity for you was truly deserved. I can only hope that you'll also get the opportunity to come over to the GC to check the coaster out first hand when it opens to the public PS. @Richard when does this guy get his prize in the mail?
  20. I got a few pics of them this morning... or at least one of them! The other was being antisocial down the back 😂😮 Video: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2175928652633839&id=1908665459360161
