  1. I'm not sure that this ride will have too much extensive theming story wise. I would say that Dreamworld will do their best to create a visually appealing ride with some kind of scenic elements in the queue area. Maybe a couple of screens etc similar to Superman Escape. I honestly believe that this will be one of Dreamworld's better rides in terms of capacity. I know nothing really beats the Wipeout, but comparing this to things such as Cyclone and Tower or Terror, it will probably pump people through a lot quicker - particularly if it has two trains running. I'm not sure how they will set up the entrance and exit, but expect it to be efficient. I will say, that in terms of design, they have done extremely well with the space they have been allocated. You can tell that a lot of thought and extensive design has gone into it. It will essentially use all of the area between the river and Tower of Terror, and will utilise the slope of the land as well. And they will do well to fit an entrance and exit through that tight section under the track also - knowing that they couldn't put these things on any other side of the attraction because of the trainline. I am going to have to say that I like the way that Cyclone works. It is similar to Superman Escape because you really don't know what to expect when you are about to load. It makes things more interesting. The reason Cyclone's capacity is low really doesn't have a lot to do with people making mistakes, etc when loading. It contributes a little, but it isn't the main reason. If people were loading while another train was going around the circuit, it would eleminate this as a problem.
  2. The train is flat when it is at the station. You just walk on.
  3. Actually, construction has begun. I also see that they have started clearing land for the Disneyland just north or Brisbane and the Universal Studios in Melbourne. I will put pictures up when things move along a bit further In all seriousness, I drove past there a week and a half ago and nothing was going on.
  4. Some new pics: The revamped mountain is going to have more than one slide in it. From the looks of it, it will have four new installations put in. Seeing as though they destroyed the old ones, and they probably couldn't have found second hand ones that fit the hill and surrounding areas, I reckon these things will be new slides. I hope they are turbo tunnels, but hey, whatever they do will be good. You can see in the second pic that they are altering the exit points on the pool. As for the surfrider they have started putting the train on it. They have also gotten started on the entrance path.
  5. ^Thanks mate. By the way, I went on Vintage Cars today and I don't know if anyone else is aware, but it was packed! And as for its appearence, I still think it looks good. The natural trees and stuff make it really enjoyable out there.
  6. I'm not a gooroo on all this stuff, but I reckon they put the final parts of the track in first so they could get started on the construction of the buildings and stuff as soon as possible. It looks like the loading area might be built in also? Do you think that the bulk of that building that is at the entrance of the ride is for the ride's shop etc, or something else? I just popped in today and most of the walls for that entrance building are up. From the amount of track, etc around the area, it looks as though this is going to be quite a long track considering some of the talk going around about it. It is going to pass near that initial turn three times from the looks of it. Here are my pics from today:
  7. You lucky sucker. I am definately going to have to go to Cedar Point one day. Some of those attractions are awsome hey... or at least they sound it. Probably going off topic here, but I know a lot of people want Dreamworld to build something big in the years to come. People have mentioned that a Giga/Hyper would be good, but I'd rather them build something like the Maverick, with a launch halfway through it, and some really unique elements. Good to hear you are enjoying your trip.
  8. Dude, great job. And by the way, don't worry too much if people are telling you to take out the extra stuff. You have gone to the trouble of making the thing so if you want to add some things in here and there go for it. That being said, I do hope you make an accurate one though. I started making one of my own but really don't have the time now. Something that I did discover that looks really good is having those white sound stages, and adding the WB logo on to them using the banners availabe with the Wild expansion pack. You can also use the banners to have the Movieworld Sign on the arches and adding some movie posters to the side of buildings etc. So far I think the one you have made looks great, keep it up.
  9. Vintage Cars looks attractive on the map What I think is most amusing about that map is that they have Rivertown on it, but there is really nothing where the "Rivertown" locator actually is. Also, and I know this is going off topic, but can anyone tell me what that Wiggles thing on the other side of the island is? I honestly haven't been on that side of the island in a long time... if at all.
  10. ^No. The pre-bowl slide and the bowl itself are designed differently to the one that uses the two person raft. The major difference is that the behemoth bowl in general is bigger. The other difference is that the behemoth encourages the raft to spin as it enters the area toward the exit slide, whereas the cannon is smaller in circumference, so it doesn't have as much flexibility. Obviously, this is to ensure the raft doesnt go out backwards. As for the actual inclusion of numerous slides in this new installation... well, I have kind of thrown some ideas around already. However, in relation to the bowl itself. I think it would be a really strong attraction if they gave it a good pre-bowl layout, rather than just a straight sprint and then around you go. If they created two cannons with a simple pre-bowl layout similar to the one they already have, then I can agree we are tiptoeing along the line of redundant attractions. What else must be said though is the the CEO behind this waterpark did travel to the US to do some research about these attractions. You can expect that he himself sees it worthwhile to install a version of each bowl and believes the oppurtunities for each warrants both installations.
  11. Am I the only one that reckons cannon bowls would be good? I know they already have the Rip, but these things are a bit different in terms of ride experience. One of the biggest arguments is that they already have the Rip, but then you go on to say that they are building two more of these things. Heaps of water parks around the world have different versions of this thing installed. The cannon packs a bit more speed, while the behemoth is more for groups. With regards to the discussion surrounding marketability. If you are talking about the group that have already attended WhiteWaterWorld or waterparks in general previously, then why should WhiteWaterWorld install any bodyslides, mammoths, speed slides, or enclosed stube rides because WnW already has them? Especially considering people have probably been going there for years prior to WhiteWaterWorld opening. What can also be said is that if these are indeed cannon bowls, then what would WnW achieve in future by opening a similar installation? If its summer, people are hot and it looks fun, people will go. ed myself when my keycard declined seeing though I had about $10 cash on me, but worked in the long run. I'm still a bit frustrated with the fact I messed my photo up, but hey, it doesn't matter. Money well spent! Yeah. My photo is shocking too. Not much you can do though lol. I was hoping I had enough money as well. Someone pretty well always comes out of the Rip backwards. Has anyone ever seen the tubes on a cannon bowl come out backward? I think its design prevents that. There will surely be an exist slide on this thing. It isn't like a ProBowl - now I reckon those are a liability.
  12. You never know, this might just be a part of a two year development plan or something. Perhaps a way of bringing in some funds before adding new attractions and potentially spacing out its construction a little bit. After all, they are building some pretty modern attractions, so opening them all too quickly could potentially decrease the marketability of it. While talking about marketting, I don't really think they would have a problem with advertising a couple of cannon bowls in spite of already having a bowl in place. Unless you are really wise to the current installations, this could in fact look like something new and exciting. After all, when the park opened it wasn't really focussing on The Rip as one of its drawcards. It was more focussed on the overal new nature of the park, and the modern technology associated with the park. And from a visual situation, the biggest attractions that most people are aware of are the ones that they can see from the highway - the Green Room, Supertubes and the Racers. Once it had been finished, I wasn't even aware that The Rip was hiding down there. Personally, I would like to see a complex built with some turbo tunnels and a couple of mammoths. They will eventually have to build some slides that give guests a bit of a variation in ride experience.
  13. Well, it looks like while no announcement has been made, they are pretty well officially building something in there, and it looks like something pretty cutting edge. WhiteWaterWorld has worked off the back of saying they have the latest in waterpark rides so they are looking to keep up this reputation. It will be interesting to see what WnW up the road is installing on the old mountain site. And WnW_Rocks... I have to say. I went up to Dreamworld today to enquire about a MAPlat and bought one myself. It didn't take too long to take the pic and get the card ready. I really didn't have enough time to go to the park and all today, but probably should have poked my head into WhiteWaterWorld to check out the construction. Had a peak at the turbo bikes, but that's it. All I can say is that by the time WhiteWaterWorld opens these new attractions, Dreamworld has a general spruse up and the bikes are motoring away. This MAPlat's gonna be a good pass. All I hope is that in the next two years they keep up the good work and introduce us to some surprises. PS: I left at about 2:30ish and Cyclone's train was empty and stuck halfway up the lifthill. Did you notice this while you were there?
  14. In response to T-Bone. The other train isn't completely there. Some of it seems to be in pieces in its old hanging bay, but it really hasn't been seen for some time now.
  15. EDIT: Ok, here is the pic from what I have gathered since I saw the concrete base things (donno what we call them now... footings or footers???) It's my speculation. The area this thing covers stops at the Tower of Terror launch track. The ditch I spoke about is indicated with the line that matches the X. The launch will go parallel to the Tower of Terror, north. My possible layout from a birdseye view has been drawn also. Of course, it isn't to scale, etc. From what has been built so far, you can tell that the last turn is after the brake run. There is another possibility, which isn't as exciting, but I hope it is something like this.
  16. Figureing out who it is Dreamworld's business. All I know is that if my conditions of employment had a confidentiality clause, I wouldn't put it to the test. What I am trying to say is that I am happy to have "Dreamworld Ride Op" around these boards, but he/she should be careful not to divulge too much, too quickly. Dreamworld will get wind of it and if they can't pinpoint one employee, they could very well look suspiciously on everyone. Just be careful where that could lead. By no means don't feel that you can't let us in on stuff, but don't go all out champ.
  17. Chaos Maniac makes a very good point. I think while yes it is good to have you giving us information on here, the only question I have of the validity of your statements is the question of what would compel you to come on a board and spill a whole bunch of secrets when yes, it could see you sacked. I look at it from two different perspectives. The first is, would someone who actually works at Dreamworld, knowing that divulging this information could jeopordise their employment come on to a message board as "Dreamworld Ride Op" (knowing too well that Dreamworld management, etc reads these boards) and gives away top secret information about various aspects of Dreamworld's development and operations? It all seems rather strange to me. The second, is from a shareholder's point of view, that if I were to have money invested in a company, I wouldn't like to discover that employees, who are trusted with such information go and spill intellectual capital all of the net. Furthermore, not even trying to do it subtly. Thank you for questioning my source, critical literacy has come along way in this country. However, as much as I would like to tell you where I heard this, I am going to chose to not tell you for my confidentiality moreso than the people who told me. Let me clarify that this was not one of those stealthy attempts by me to uncover some top secret information, or an annoying harrasment of ride ops or securtiy guards or whoever else works at Dreamworld. The people told me well within the limitations of their employment, and for this I feel it isn't necissary to put them on a chopping block and analyise the validity of what they were saying. All that was said was: A new thrill ride was in construction, once it is finished Dreamworld won't be talking Big 5 anymore, they will more than likely be talking Big 6, and anything else told would see this person lose their job. But they did go on to say that this particular website had many of the details about the ride correct, but they were not going to confirm which aspects or actually say anything about the rides themselves. Yeah, these people might not have as strong an understanding of what is going on as Dreamworld Ride Op, but I would personally trust them more because a: they knew the limitations of their employment and respected them and b: I knew the capacity they worked in. Yes but from a consumer perspective and a shareholder perspective, I would like to think that Dreamworld markets this thing as what it is. The only point I would like to make about this is the fact that if they are going to market it out of a Big 6 umbrella it suggests that it isn't worthy of comparing it to some of the other attractions that already exist. And I find it odd that people suggest that children aged 8 - 12 will be more inclined to try a less threatening ride. Dreamworld already has plenty of rides for youngsters, or those who like their rides a little tamer, but once people reach this 8 - 12 mark they wanna try the big stuff. They are not much different from many of us. EDIT: and in response to Gazza's last post. Yeah, all of the Dreamworld staff will know exactly what is going on regardless of what capacity they work in, but as I said, the reason we don't have all of them on here telling us what is going on is because the conditions of employment dictate that such an act is a no-no.
  18. ^I guess I will have to ask the same question. From what I have heard they are saying this thing is going to be a thrill ride - nomatter how mild it is - and that Dreamworld will be talking Big 6. It really depends on what you would consider a 'thrill ride'. Just look at their current Big 5: Tower of Terror: Fast (apparently), but not thrilling, no way. Cyclone: A good ride, but after you go on it once it really isn't a huge deal. Wipeout: More of a puke machine than a thrill ride. Claw: Great ride, but I find it to be more of what it is - a giant swing. A lot of fun, but not excessively thrilling. Giant Drop: Yeah, this is pack your dacks stuff, but the only really 'thrilling' ride amongst the bunch. Don't get me wrong, I think they are all great rides. My favourite out of the bunch would be the Claw, and that isn't because it is thrilling, but because you get a bit of enjoyment out of it. All I am saying is that when you look at them, not many of them are excessively thrilling, but that doesn't in anyway detract from the ride. If they genuinely wanted a kiddy coaster, they wouldn't have bothered with a launched coaster. And if they wanted to accumulate some more funds to install a 'proper' coaster than they would have found another really compact and cost effective installation as they have done for the past couple of years.
  19. What about, "Take a trip away from the everyday!"
  20. ^Oh, you've made me angry haha! Just messing. Nah, I agree, that paddle steamer looks like puke. I think they have painted it to fit in with Wiggles World, but wouldn't know for sure. I really do not have a huge problem with main street looking the way it does. Perhaps Dreamworld is still investigating the creation of a new entrance.
  21. ^Ok cool. Didn't think it was anything too specific to WnW, but someone mighta known something I didn't. Cheers for letting us know though mate
  22. They have gutted the old Matrix Exhibit now. Interesting how Movieworld has been able to slip under the radar with respect to what is going to be built in there. I hope it is something good. Either way, it will be good to see something new.
  23. Well, with regards to height, you would expect that while it probably isn't going to reach massive heights, it probably won't be completely flat. Just look at Furious Baco, it is flat as but takes up a huge area. There are two things to be considered here. One, is the way in which Intamin uses its retractable breaking system. This thing will have to launch to an area higher than the station to have a backup plan for short shots. The second is that it will probably launch to anywhere between 60 and 70 km/h. While that doesn't sound like a lot, it could probably make it up a 20 metre high hill at an early stage? And the way that it is being designed in any case, the launch track will be a little way off the ground to start with. What will probably do an injustice to this ride is the fact that it will be dwarfed by the Dreamworld Tower next to it.
  24. No, I am being serious. From what I have heard once this thing is finished they will be saying Big 6 Thrill Rides, or they might change it to what T-Bone said... I donno. Either way they are not going to leave it at Big 5 Thrill Rides and not include a new coaster in the mix. As far as marketing goes then that sends a message that they concede this thing isn't a thrill ride. Unless of course they completely restructure their marketing campaign. But as I said, Dreamworld is talking Big 6 Thrill Rides. It is starting to look a little better now that it is coming together. Not long now and we can judge it for real.
  25. ^That's a bit harsh. I reckon it looks good too. And forgive me if I am wrong but what's the problem with having a carport for a station when the ride is about cars?
