  1. It sounds like they want this done quickly... Summer holidays... There wouldn't be enough time though would there?? And how about while they're at it they put like mini golf and things sorta of like permanent traveling rides like KMG.
  2. Right, I had to wrap my head around this for a bit... still don't know if I've got it! Its almost a new park completely separate from MW but in the spare land they have in their carpark!! Because if this was a add on to MW I would think what a stupid idea... its Motorsport where is that movie related! But basically its just an adrenaline park sort of style like some parks in America have next to them like at CedarPoint! If thats what their talking about then it sounds like it could be a good idea. But whats with MW loving cars lately stunt driver, now this? Then again what about all Aussie parks because up the road DW seems to be in love with motorsport as well! Another thing they'll need to sort out their carpark... because on a busy people use that grassy area, where they want to build as another overflow carpark, when the overflow carpark is full, then with this addition, they will to do something... two levels? Maybe? Now all they need is a hotel, and entertainment precinct and they've got themselves set up very nicely like a Universal Resort or the set up at CedarPoint!! Although they are running out of room!
  3. Well I won one of the free tickets so I'll be off to check it out!!
  4. I just wish that their 4 biggest rides in terms of crowdsoakers (SE, LW Batwing and WWF) were open all night and not shut at 9pm... cause that only leaves batman, and Scooby plus the Looney Tunes area, only if its open! And a lot of people in main street!
  5. So I happened to be on the Seek website and I typed in Movie world and found this http://www.seek.com.au/job/operations-atte...17883057/101/1/ Its a job for a bungee trampoline attendant at both MW and WnW so it looks like WnW is getting another up-charge attraction which makes 3 this year MW as well. So not sure where it fits Movie theme or water but hey thats what we're getting. Its also not part of WVTP these people must be paying the company to come in and offer this experience.
  6. The park hasn't even hinted at this happening, would they be so cool with you saying all this, especially if its true?
  7. I hope MW would then go ahead with LW train replacement, its such a good ride apart from the fact they have painful trains... It would give their parks the edge with all their parks getting new rides or refurbishments great marketing campaign and make their passes the better one to buy, while their at it have 2 new trains and have staff trained to make loading a lot quicker so when the first train rolls into the brake run the second is loaded and ready to go so there is no waiting for better capacity and then maybe add some more theming elements to it like some fire, fog and exploding cars near misses and going through building and give the ride a story, re-ignite the LW movies and ride, who knows maybe thats why the ride only has one train, don't bother with the second one because soon they are going to have new trains?? I'd be interested in seeing this new escape pod... because wasn't said the modifications made would mean a new one? I want to know if its lapbar or OSH and will the car be as loud as the original, you would imagine now that its in the tunnel it won't be as loud down the launch track until it goes up the tower and will it still look the same? I'd love the new car to have speakers built into each seat like the ride at Universal name escapes me I think its RipRideRockIt? A really cool tunnel lighting effect maybe some fog in the tunnel, fully make-over the que, paint the tower and why not add some firs as you blast out of the tunnel like on X2!
  8. And WVTP gives you three parks not two.
  9. Really? Where are the Bunnings? I can only think of the one at Harbour Town, because the Southport one is more than 15mins away... I'm literally racking my brain trying to figure it out. Anyway unless this has more things to it i.e. rides... and sounds more interesting and bigger than just a Bunnings I can see this turning into the thing like SpaceWalker at Surfers... but good luck to them though!
  10. But the GD is down the same time as it though!! Wouldn't that make it a bit hard to re-paint unless both ride for the tower ToT and GD were down... makes it a little hard to paint a ride and have it running at the same time? I hope it gets re-painted though, maybe before and after closing times?
  11. Randy23 I think you mean they'll show 3D movie's... not 4D, 4D involves all the special effects, while 3D is just the movie with all the things coming out you... so yeah 3D is 4D without the effects... if you get me. Also if they want a massive waste of a budget of buying glasses then its a great idea... I mean think of it, there's several ways out of the wave pool and even if they have people standing at each point collecting glasses so many people leaving at once, people will slip through, also people have big bags they take to WnW, they will sneak them through with that... I've seen people take the glasses from the Roxy, the wave pool would be a nightmare. People WILL take them as a souvenir no matter if its stealing or not, they'll think its cool and they'll see if they can use them at home and I'd like to see how they could stop this! Also why not use MW old 3D projector or SW 3D projector, since they don't show 3D movies anymore? Instead of using one thats high tech and only relatively brand new and get's used everyday and not once in a bluemoon.
  12. Yea, no one will actually know for sure, until its actually happening. I hope I got wrong what I heard 5yrs ago or they were wrong or the company re-news the lease, because I think the show is so awesome and a lot of fun... I think all we can do is just wait and see whats happening for the next few months... But to actually throw a spanner in the works, I just remembered, WVTP have been pretty open to what they're doing this year... and nothing like this was even mentioned for MW so I highly doubt seeing anything like this happen.
  13. Don't the lights actually go back inside the buildings... I remember the day I saw it, you couldn't see them all day and about 2hrs or so before beginning they started bringing them out and putting them back in, so that when there's no show the public can't see them and it doesn't ruin the fell of main street... Don't know about the fog machines though, but I can't remember seeing them down main street during the day unless I didn't look close enough.
  14. I've said this before somewhere in the forums, but I do remember hearing all the way back 5years ago Shrek was done on a 5year lease and as I said last time if this is true, 5years is coming up soon!!
  15. Did anyone see the photo of the Wipeout back in the day when there was water, there's a photo on DW's fb page... I never got to see it with water, I wish they still had it and never got rid of it, look like it would have been a cool addition for both people riding and those watching.
  16. Well if DW/WWW are doing a similar promotion I think it would be time to start pushing it, because once again WVTP are shoving their new pass down everyone's throat again in terms of marketing. I agree with you Joz I really hope SW can only get better, and with it being their time this year for a new ride/attraction and WnW getting something one would assume that it would be MW's time next year for something new and shiny!!
  17. Hey I bought a Batman mask for the show and my mate bought a batman mask and cap and I thought giving away ice creams to whoever is the loudest was also a great idea
  18. Its the lid that are on the boxes for guests to place their loose articles in and it closed because it made a loud banging noise, but staff didn't see it was the box, they thought it came from the train. Looney Tunes and Batman from what I saw Yesterday were going all day and I understand SE only has one train, but for their sake I hope they get back up and running asap and with LW the red train hasn't been there for a while but it would be nice to see it back... but with it being gone for so long, I think its just my wishful thinking!
  19. So on Sunday before I went to Movie World for the parade I wanted to check out SW and well, what I once thought was nicest and prettiest park on the GC is gone, while the gardens and building still look nice, it just hasn't got that atmosphere anymore. Well for second day of holidays it was going to be busy and first of all we all know the train isn't working which for a busy day takes out a huge crowd soaker then the Skyway was closed and it now had four on each group, I think it then only became 3, well we now have just 2. The Flume ride wasn't open and they don't even have a proper movie anymore and the monorail had just 1 train which made it unbearable. Sea Viper first ride since re-branded, now Corkscrew I got, it didn't have a theme because it was a classic white seaside coaster, but Viper is bright tacky and its a ride with a theme, but with no theming at all. By the Way none of the ride opened on time, which doesn't help on a busy day. But first ride little boy tries to go, too small, grandfather gets very cranky and can't understand why because 12months his grandson went on it. They had to call guest services to try to explain it was a new train, not a good start, I understood why but the GP don't get why then but not now! So after the ride finally starting and being first ride on it when we hit the brakes it made a loud hissing noise... we rolled into the station and the ride was closed because it was broken down, the ride didn't stop hissing for ages. We went back after the dolphin show and the que was back out right next to the exit... no thanks and it was the slowest loading I have ever seen, the Corkscrew was loaded quicker with one person running it and I always saw the staff having to unlock harnesses and re-lock to try and send because it didn't seem to want to go the first time. Pirates the swinging Pirate ship should never have gone, at least yet, there not doing anything with the land yet, why couldn't it have stayed to help relieve bust days like yesterday. Jet Rescue was next, only one train going, and a very slow loading, I think the motocoaster could have beaten it. Still a lot of fun to ride and great ride. By the time we came back after the dolphin show it was all the way back to the bridge, yep, past the photo and lockers station and down to the bridge. Clearly this also needed 2 trains going and a faster team operating it. Bermuda Triangle... what a disappointment they have the video running at the top, but its not the same if someone collects you and bring you to the top and runs the video, its not like there saving on staff they still had someone down the bottom. The generic SW uniform on the ride looks stupid and out of place especially when you know how the staff use to look, its not the same either when you can't see fire coming out the top of the volcano. So the ride wasn't too bad, sort of, the boats sound worked, but there things like projections which were just blank like where the rock hits the screen, the UFO doesn't disappear which make it look cheap and people you had never been on it before were commenting saying that looks bad and other saying hey that use to disappear. there were also parts where show lights should have been on to show the aliens but weren't like when the aliens scan you, none of the rock doors open and shut. To top it off the didn't even have the red lights working which probably makes it look better than having something look cheap. Overall on the ride, the ride use to give of this WOW factor people would get off and go WOW the fire was just that final touch the heat the light, the smell from it and the UFO disappearing which left people think how? Its all gone now its just a normal ride. I saw people get off and go that was fun and people go that use to be way bette, what happened to the fire? and I'm betting they didn't re-ride where as people would get off and WOW that was amazing/awesome lets go do that again today!! Its really a sad loss to the park and Gold Coast. I saw the Dolphin, now that brought the magic back for me, what a great amazing show that use to give the park its added magic and WOW factor The Ray Reef I though was really good and great for kids, the Polar Bears were playing and Shark Bay amazed me again and the Fairy Penguins were a little sleepy. The construction in the waterpark is coming along it should be great when done and bring a lot more people to that back area. Also where Pig use to be the lagoon has been torn out, so I think we could be seeing something there soon. The midway games and shops, well some of the shops had bright colours on them and it reminded me of Dreamworld's faded shops. The midway games, great, I think they are a fantastic idea and were very busy, but do it right and make it look beautiful like DCA's midway games and not a badge slapped on a shed. Do it right or don't do it at all! However the toilets they have refurbished there look really well though, I'd like to see them at all there parks like MW! While doing the painful wait on the monorail I happened to see some of the Pirate show... horrible, the stadium was packed at the begging only to emptying half-way through the show, it was bad and not anywhere near as action-packed as the Ski Show... BRING THE SKI SHOW BACK... its part of the park heritage and got crowds out of the park... once again the show had that WOW factor and made people keep going back to watch it! Overall disappointing day, the park was a shell of its former self, someone at WVTP take note of what MW is doing to improve and take action, because the GP will and are noticing, before you have a park that's losing money. Everywhere I turned they had something to make money, glass bottom boat, dog tags, fish feeding on top of all the other up charge attraction they had. Also when leaving there was an ambulance next to the helicopter and someone was on stretcher being taken to it, surrounded by SW staff... But anyway I left bitter tasted and in no rush to return where once I couldn't wait to come back, SW was lost its magic and WOW factor and lost its way!!
  20. WOW just WOW what an awesome parade but its not really a parade its more of show themed to parade to me.... MW a couple of months to me seemed like it had a long way to go... Now Scooby and rides as such looking fantastic witch smoke, yes the red laser looks pathetic but as I said before its looking a lot better lately and is getting back towards glory days and this parade and the park look great. Looney Tunes a couple of weeks ago looked great but in a short time a lot of animatronics haven't been working. They should also tear down Marvin and put something in there that works. All the buildings on mainstreet were open for the parade which was great and they were busy, when I left the rides were running but the lines had been shut. The park just had this magical vibe through the parade which in recent time has been lost the parade was the best I had ever seen it. I stopped watching the parades because they were so bad and boring where once upon a time I would ALWAYS watch they were so good. I just hope that when this show finishes we see the same quality parade continue and that they begin to do this every holidays and in Summer. I liked the begging with the Daily Planet reporter and you could tell the guy was Austin Powers during the day, it made me laugh but he was still very good. The guys in Police uniforms with JL float, were they the PA stunt uniforms?? I was sitting closer to the screen but best viewing is down in the middle of the street near the Roxy theatre. Not only that but staff with the crowd appeared to be having a great time and dancing and shouting and really getting into, which is just something extra that shows through and lifts and makes it more fun. Also last night they were filming Kids WB there with the 2 hosts in the parade. There are other DC comic shows during the day and lots of the characters out, Lex Luthor was following people up main street and before the show started there was guy with a whistle getting everyone hyped up, kind of reminded me of Mad Mike! The parks still not what it use to be, but if this parade shows anything I'm very confident for the future. Also I noticed Michael Croaker's daughter got a shout out on the main screen.
  21. Okay so I went on Friday so it was a while ago but I'll remember what I can. First the park was once again looking great Scooby had even more fog in it than Tuesday which made it a lot of fun, once again that ride is showing really good signs of being in its glory days again, although on Friday the doors into the ride were broken, hard to explain but I think you guys know which one's I'm talking about the doors the ride first goes through and you see Scooby and the fountain didn't have any smoke in it like usual. Other than that I remember on Friday as pretty slick. Wild West was another one looking great and a lot of fun as always everything was working and something I actually have never really seen going lately was there was a lot of fog coming out of the fire where the Indian section is. On the left up thought there was no air when you the bats or gunshots or whatever that noise is and the video where the but shoot at you on your way up to the final drop wasn't working but other than great... obviously not as good as when it was before the fire but still good for what it was. Not that I can remember how it use to be before anyway... I do remember seeing the sparks though. There were lots of characters out in the park again it really looked good. Now here's what was bad about the day, it was the last day before holidays, clearly to me, because I even guessed it before I went that the park would be busy, but it was clearly under staffed. Batman was doing its morning run and then afternoon run, and in the afternoon the line was about 3/4 of the switchbacks full, the ride seriously needed to be running all day and when it was opened it wasn't running with a very large capacity three or so simulators when it really needed all 6 to handle the parks crowd. Superman, didn't even bother with, it was broken down in the morning and then started with one train for the rest of the day it was full all day with waits as stardust said... at one point when I went past it the line was actually outside of the building it really needed 2 train operation, with operators working as quickly as possible and someone out the front with emptying pockets, because I did hear a guest saying how every second person had things in their pockets and was making loading just painful. Lethal needs 2 train running on it, it was also packed. The management at the park if they are American need to do something American parks are good at and that's loading, lines on LW and SE would be quicker if the load process was. To top it off last couple of rides lined up for Lethal I was next group on front seat which I had waited for and as it went around the loop past the station it blew the lid shut, but operators weren't watching so when it came back the ride had to have a mechanic brought in, because of this the ride was closed for the day. Now I can see the reason behind it, but why couldn't they wait for the mechanic and send the last rides, I mean SE was going to bed running for the next hour, and because of this the staff on the ride got abused so heavily because they weren't watching and saw the lid shut, guests made them shut the lid to see the sound but they weren't budging, which I get why but closing straight on the guests and while they said sorry they just seem truly sorry or convincing and because of that the GP gave it them. Looney Tunes river ride only went for 3 hours in the also needed to go all day, the park was that busy and more shows for Shrek were needed to relieve the pressure on the park. Stunt Driver added and extra show which was good to see. But the shops in main street as well needed to open earlier and not close so early. Basically everything in the park looked great but it was clearly understaffed and A LOT of guests were noticing this and commenting and most were pretty unhappy about it, if the park had 2 train operation on SE and LW and faster loading operations and Batwing was horribly slow at loading on Friday ALL ride OPEN ALL DAY as well as the shops open all day then that day would have been very busy but the park would have handled it A LOT better and wait times wouldn't have been so long and guests feelings would have come off a lot better as crowd would have been spread more and people would have more to do and rides moving quicker it wouldn't have seemed so bad.
  22. Okay so I went to Movie World and well I gotta say I had a pretty enjoyable day. At one point all the characters were in main street they had Austin, Marilyn, Batman, Scooby and the gang and Bugs and Tweety and one point, because me and Austin became really close he led me over to the bank and next minute the bank was robbed and Wonder Woman came out beat them up and ran off, I'm guessing for DC Comics birthday. Also the people the come out with the characters I don't remember if they never use to, but now they wear this whole costume where they look like a director?!?! Now this one is directed at Gazza I remember a while ago he said that the screen in SE were boring and that they should put in a train timetable on like blue line, orange line and have them change and such. Well obviously someone was listening and that has now been installed. SE only had one train going which meant that the line could sometimes get fairly long. LW still only has the blue train on the track, I'm still wondering what the cargo hold things, can't think of the name for them right now are doing next to the ride, or have they always been there?!?! Photo booth never opened all day, and one thing I really liked was the music in the main square outside LW it was turned up really loud and I don't know what it was but it seemed to give it more charm. Scooby was looking good, everything working and I did 3 times and some points there was fair amount of fog in there, and at one point the whole bottom floor was completely flooded in it. I know because I went right through and got a whole mouth of, and that stuff doesn't smell to good. Laser's all working, still don't like the red laser, prefer the green one, but hey that was just me. The main room wasn't as fogged as it use to be but it looked really good and was a lot of fun, if I was being really picky music could have been a little louder. River ride was still really fun as it always, but out of everything today would have said it was the worst, it was just little things that weren't working the tree scene, rock falling, bugs with the Koala's and maybe another one or two, and one of the waterfalls weren't. Don't get me wrong it was still looking great and a lot of fun, its just not the same if your expecting something to do something and it just sits there and other people on the ride were commenting! Also this was the only ride were I saw only one staff member that clearly looked like they didn't want to be there, but every other staff member were great today, lately I had been struggling to find a friendly one. Batman, I forgot that this is such a fantastic ride, I mean the ride itself it was very outdated, but I mean it is a lot of fun and a great crowd soaker when they have their busy days and the level of theming and detail that the ride has leaves a lot to be desired for things like Batwing! Really if you did a new story and improved the simulator you'd have an even better ride and more people going on it, who knows you might actually see all the simulators full instead of just a couple of them running. Mainstreet I don't know if anyone has said this before but there is now a lighting rack just above where the usually shows just outside the Daily Planet, there is also a two large sets of speakers off the screen and down mainstreet off each pole there are speakers. Now I think I may have forgotten some things but if I remember I'll come back to it later. But yea while there were things in the park that weren't what they used to be and somethings were gone or not working or there things like internet cafe. Other things in the park had been improved which was great to see and I had an awesome day and a lot of fun, if the park could keep the standards I saw today and polished some things I would dare say it was like its glory day's.
  23. ^^ How can you not blame MW for closing the ride, its their fault for letting fall into disrepair, just like its their fault for letting BT get to the point its at. Now if the River ride is really bad like that then its fallen apart really quickly because when I went on it last at the last school holidays it was running perfectly with everything working as it should, apart from a really unenthusiastic staff member Ok I'm going to say rumoured to be true is Shrek because I remember again on the rumour mill that when it opened WVTP signed a 5 year deal to secure the rights to use the ride and film and obviously naming and characters at from what I heard a fairly large price tag per year. Now its coming up around five years which would mean if it is true the contract is up for renewal. However with the new Shrek coming out I would imagine the company keeping the ride for a few more years. But if what Randy says is true the character and store are already no more it just adds more fuel that's what it is. Could be plausible, well its tough one but simply based on cost and what is currently on offer... River ride, could be done cheap, but still to a good level. It is old, however that's no excuse to just get rid of it, but just to me it seems plausible, no matter I would HATE to see it go, its a good crowd soaker, great for hot days and everyone just really loves it no matter if their young or old, its always re-rideable no matter how times you've already been on it before and you get to see your favourite Looney Tunes character and we all know Bugs is the best!! I see as completely untrue is LW because It was just so expensive when it was built, not only that the park only has 2 big roller coasters, you take that out your left with one and your left with a park that doesn't have a coaster that loops, to me it would just seem pretty stupid to take something like that away especially if it was being replaced by another coaster, when we've previously seen if you put the new Vekoma trains on the ride and what is a relatively cheap option and makes it as good and as smooth as a B&M (not my words, read it on a review when they put on a coaster overseas) but no matter to me its a no brainer. However having said that LW is missing a train and has been for sometime and from all accounts it ain't coming back and it is the ride that doesn't exactly have the best story, theming to it. But I do remember hearing it was suppose to have a much more elaborate set but due to money it was cut back, why not put that extra bit of theming in it some fire like on X2, the new trains, just really bring some life into it. So there's my thoughts on it... also though the last 2 there's pro's and con's in both of them so it could go either way as which one is completely untrue and could be plausible!!
  24. Another question, Randy are sure you're allowed to tell us this information? Because these plans aren't for another 2 years and considering they won't even tell us about this year I would think WVTP, knowing them and how they are so secret, I would imagine they would be pretty angry with you releasing it. Which leads me to think your hearing this on the rumour mill and its not true, which is what I believe or it is true and I would think on your part its pretty stupid to be saying this on a forum. So please if you can tell us this info great, but for your sake if you can't, don't. And I do secretly hope that it doesn't demolished, it may be rough, but its a heap of fun and its only suspended coaster and our only coaster that loops that many times, it would be a sad day to see it go
  25. Yea can I just ask... where has the red train been? It's like it went into the Bermuda Triangle and disappeared off the face of the Earth, actually a bit like BT ride effects, because on busy days LW really needs 2 train operation!
