  1. HARRY Potter fans are buzzing after creator JK Rowling launched a mysterious website counting down to the announcement of a new project. A spokesman for the multimillion-selling writer said the new enterprise was not a new book and was not related to the upcoming release of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2, the final film in the epic saga. Surfers visiting www.pottermore.com are welcomed by a screen containing two owls and the scrawled message "Coming Soon". A click on an owl then redirects the user to a Youtube page with a clock marking down time until June 23, and the message "The owls are gathering - find out why", fuelling fevered speculation about the form of the new venture. Rowling's spokeswoman, Rebecca Salt, said: "There is a holding page up at the moment. It is a new project and not a new book and it's not directly related to the film. The "Pottermore" trademark is owned by Warner Bros, the films' distributor. Fans were led to the site late Wednesday by a "Secret Street View" hunt. In the challenge, 10 Potter fan sites were each given a coordinate relating to a letter of the web page address. A Twitter account set up for the project has already attracted almost 40,000 followers. Initial predictions for the project included a long-awaited Potter encyclopedia, an online role-playing game and a "giant theme park". A member of the fan site www.the-leaky-cauldron.org claimed to have seen a preview of the product and said it was "in a word, breathtaking". 0--------------------- Could this be the rumoured additional areas of the Wizarding World? Or something to do with the "museum" type attrachtion opening in the UK??? I guess we'll find out in under a week!
  2. Themeit's annual report was released today and Wet N Wild was the 8th most visited Waterpark in the world in 2010 with 1,175,000 visitors, which the report says is up 7.5% on the previous years figures. To see the full report for yourself head to http://www.themeit.com/etea/2010Report.pdf I have only scanned the report, so if I've missed anything else of interest post away!
  3. A JAPANESE theme park is getting ready to unveil the world's steepest roller coaster, with a 121 degree incline and speeds of 100 kilometres per hour. The ride, which cost a whopping $40 million to build, is found at the Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park in Yamanash, and has been named 'Takabisha' - which means 'dominant' in English. According to The Daily Mail, Takabisha, which has Mt Fuji as a backdrop, is set to open on July 16 this year. It's packed with jaw-dropping features including seven twists, blackened tunnels and a 43 metre high peak. But the most impressive thing about Takabisha is the freefall at 121 degrees, which is so steep it's Guinness Book of Records-worthy. Relying on a combination of gravity and a set of linear motors attached to the cars, you'll be strapped in and flung down the incline at 100 km/h, experiencing a feeling of weightlessness as you go. The current Guinness World Record-holding roller coaster is the UK's Mumbo Jumbo ride at Flamingoland in Yorkshire. This ride has held the title of "The World's Steepest Roller Coaster" since July 2009, but with an incline of just 112 degrees, Takabisha will be an essential 9 degrees steeper. Once the ride has been certified, it will be the 14th Guinness World Record set by Fuji-Q, which is one of the leading amusement parks in the world for thrill-seekers. When it's up and running, Takabisha will cost $11.75 (Y1000) to ride, excluding park admission fees. Really would like to go to Fuji-Q one day!
  4. Omg.. they went with my chalk idea. Seriously though , thanks for thr pics. Love that shiny new piece of track
  5. It was the first fan kind of site you come across is what I meant. Sorry for confusing you. My point is, if a visitor is looking at goin to movieworld by doing a search they are likely to come.here. surely WVTP and ardent would appreciate the free advertising they recieve, good and bad. t's all bargaining chips hey
  6. Yea thats what I'm saying cruiseshipfan . Dw really screwed themselves out of an awesome marketing tool hey....
  7. That's true. Maybe use thr leftover chalk from the chalk zone and just draw arrows on the ground. Or get guests to do it...
  8. A lot of good movies are converted to Imax. Dreamworld would have had more success upcharging for these upgraded imax films then asking people to go there for a movie they can see on a similar size screen. Imagine if DW advertised the Biggest screen in QLD. You could see Avatar, Tin Tin etc on a huge screen. Would have been a draw card for them and people would have made the trip to see it. I think they definitly made the wrong decision to remove it
  9. Lol really ? That's hilarious... I think I read somewhere the animatronjcs on the new Madagascar ride in singapore are clearly stamped with the makers logo . To far haha
  10. Sweet talk it Alex. We never know if we don't ask. You can always get a great deal if you know what to say. Positive thinking man. In a lot of ways, A Parks event has more benefit to MW than a TPR event. As the place to come for theme park enthusiasits visiting aus parks. Parkz is in a great posistion to not only Influence this market but to encourage change at the parkz. Tourism is down. the parkz need a long term alternative to help bring in revenue. The VIP Pass is killing our parks. This is evidenced by the small investment in dreamworld in what should be its biggest year WVTP and Ardent would benefit from giving its number one "fan created" website a leg up. All it takes is for someone passionate to ask for a good deal. If you go in asking for a shit deal that's what you'll get. If you ask for the world the worst they can do is say no. Do a google search for movieworld and the first forum that you see is this one. It would be good for the parks to realise the potential this place has for connecting to a market so why shouldn't we negotiate as good a price?
  11. Hehe.. I wonder if stokes wheeler had a spike in web traffic following the posting of that pic. Show building or simply a bat shop rebuild? Qiestion. As someone who avoids peak times like the plague, does that Batman ride queue still fill up ?
  12. Theming at dreamworld? Whack some paint on and call it done.
  13. Tolly, this is what our parks should be creating. Rides you can ride again with diffrwnt sensations.etc. interactive or changing storylines.can make a ride.
  14. I hate that dw took away the imax screen. Such a waste . No imax in qld anymore. When I worked at mw they use to pump the Asian tour groups through all parks in one day Seaworld in the morning Then to movieworld for lunch and Arvo Then paradise country for dinner. I feel so bad for those tourists sometimes
  15. I like businesses sponsering as long as its not in your face. Castrol Edge stands out at mw, as does streets icecream. If it means more revenue thr parks can use back in the park why not? Just don't screw with the theming!
  16. Wow... So does 9 million total cover both disk-o and rumoured ride? Kinda wished they'd invested and.held off. Turned that 9 into 18 and the.built something super major. Would rather see an amazing addition then two half assed
  17. It's a new entry point for batman adventure. they are removing the batcave preshow and library theming. The library preshow wilbe.shown.in.the queue line. Guests will then board one of two modules. The main.queue, library, bat cave and 3/4 of exsisting module space will be leveled to clear room for new.attraction. I spoke to a guy selling Churros and this is what he told me is happening. Also, he said mw will be.toning down Halloween this year. No mazes, no scares. Trick or treating for kids aka mickey's not so scary.Halloween.at disneyworld.
  18. Lol dj. I'm really keen for meet up at a park. Maybe a new thread is In order? Having a specific outside event will be way to costly (unless there is a wealthy member willing to pay our way _ which I doubt) so an in-park casual meet would work as well. Maybe a representative from parkz could contact WVTP or DW and sweet talk them into a behind the scenes thing much like TPR were able to achieve but at lesser cost. Mods - new thread?
  19. For anyone who posts "i know what you don't know" type posts, they should have to send a message through to mod team stating what they know. Then if it turns out to be bullshit then you can ban the tools. I won't bother with this thread any longer. If mw announce plans ill come back and see how this thing flew.
  20. Do I amuse you? I just don't understand what's going on in this thread. Am I missing something blaently obvious? I took the first post as a bit of a joke post. Never even thought that we were seriously going off a few pegs in the ground. Leave the thread for a couple of days and all of a sudden there's a Batman themed coaster going in? But I havnt read any actual proof of this? Just spec? Over 90 posts for some pegs? Am I missing something?
  21. If they are truly putting in another Batman themed ride I think they need to consider changing the theming of the Gotham City hall.facade. Keep Batman all in one place. I have tried to follow this thread but can a moderator please confirm a new ride is actually being built? Or are we just speculating based on a.few pegs in.the ground and an approval to build a. Shop? Nate
  22. Didn't see this posted anywhere else. Channel 7 news at 6 tonight (sunday) has a flashback to when Movieworld first opened. Might be interesting, might not. If this is posted elsewhere please remove! Nate
  23. Sorry Gazza. Took these pics from inside my car as I ambled past. My first reaction was building supports as well.. No visible stickers on them and no signs screaming coaster supports
  24. so i drove past dreamworld today on the way home from the new stadium at the gold coast, and took a few pictures of some bits and pieces lying around inside the cordened off section of carpark.. ne idea what this stuff is?
