Hi ads, The polls were based on which rides and attractions voters must do or see while at a park. 54% of voters said that TI and PBS were must do attractions at th parks. The polls were a little confusing, but next time around I will make it more clear. Nate

Hi all, you may remember my polls a while back. Well I have the final results (based on polls ending two weeks following the posting) and here they are With voting now closed, Wild West Falls has been voted as the number one theme park attraction at the Gold Coast Themeparks. Only one vote seperated Wild West Falls from joint runners up, Superman Escape (Warner Brothers Movie World) and The Claw (Dreamworld). Rounding out the top 7 Theme park Attractions, Dreamworlds Giant Drop, Tower of Terror and Movieworlds Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster all tied, gaining 75% of the vote. The now closed Shrek 4D (Warner Brothers Movie World) was the highest rated show at the parks. Hollywood Stunt Driver, also at Warner Brothers Movieworld now receives top place by default, but only gathers 45% of the vote. Voting for the Best Animal Attraction also ended in a tie with Tiger Island at Dreamworld and Polar Bear Shores at Seaworld gathering 54% of the vote each. Overall Dreamworld had 10 attractions in the top 26. Movieworld, Seaworld and Wet 'n' Wild have 8, 7 and 1 respectively. I will run new polls after Christmas, to see how our opinions may have changed, adding the rides and shows missed, and the new additions to the parks. Nate

Hi All, Random topic! Pick all the rides you love to ride! If you were to go to a park tomorrow, which rides would you want to ride out of the list? Pick as few or as many as you like! Nate

While this will make money for WVTP, themeing is what I go to a Theme park for. Movieworld say they are a Movie related theme park, a family adventure with all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. How on earth do bungee trampolines relate, and where will they put them? Kids zone? Wild West? WNW i can handle, but MW?! I do not like this addition one bit. Nate
-
I cannot believe they would do this! Movieworld! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?!
-
With WVTP and DW/WWW offering VIP passes for til July. Which one should I buy?! Which park is going to be the better option for the next 12 months? Nate
-
Is this the same Journey movie? Those chairs look scary! Obviously it would be a toned down version?
-
ahhh thats sad good points all though! So what other 4d movies currently out there might be a suitable replacement? Terminator?! Just a quick Wiki search reveals the following current (or not so current) 4d movies playing aruodn the world . Would MW go to the expense of filming thier own masterpiece? Or just get the rights for one of these? Captain EO (1986) Haunted Lighthouse (2003) Honey, I Shrunk the Audience (1994) It's Tough To Be A Bug (1998) Jim Henson's Muppet*Vision 3D Mickey's PhilharMagic (2003) Pirates 4D (1999), SpongeBob SquarePants 4-D (2000, 2006 Terminator 2 3D: Battle Across Time (1996), Fly Me to the Moon (2008), Journey to the Center of the Earth in 4-D (2008), London Eye 4D Experience (2009 Star Tours II (2011) Woody Woodpecker 3D (2010)

Ahhh good points !

I would love MW to get the rights to The Simpsons ride from Universal! They already have the chairs, just need to modify the effects to suit the film!

Hi Everyone! I am a pretty mad themepark enthusiast. But lately I feel like the parks on offer on the "Gold Coast" are just not offering enough to get me to visit. It only takes about 40 minutes to get to a park, and I have an annual pass, but have no desire to go!!! A mixture of reading reviews on here, and hearing about bad decisions being made at the parks has got me wondering... what can the parks do to get me back through the gate? Free drink refills are not cutting it and lacklustre laser shows just don't do it. Dreamworld.... needs to put the theme back into themepark. "So many worlds in one" - I've never quite understood this... I see the animal park as distinctly different, and the waterpark... so that's three. When I go to a themepark I want to be immersed. I want to forget about what's happening in the news. If Dreamworld fixed the themeing and some of the queue lines.. (see cyclone and tot) I would be more willing to head back. the TOT queue reminds me of some back alley toilet with all the graffiti. On visits to DW the staff seem surly and unattentive. Movieworld.... This is a MOVIE park. HSD, a show where cars go around in circles.... no real story line! The best part of the show is the audience interaction. Batman desperatly needs an update. River Ride has no re-rideability. Scooby is a shell of its former self. WWF looks run down. I remember when they use to have fake rocks covering the cameras out the back in the flume section. Now the cameras are just there. It's the small things like this that make me cranky. Where is all the street performances? The new parade sounds interesting, but is it enough for me to go back? No. Get more performers on the street. Bring back the street theatre crew and i will come back to the park Seaworld... Education should be fun... SW need to fix Bermuda. What was an exciting and exhilerating ride has turned into a confusing mishmash of ideas. How can a new rider follow the story line? If Bermuda was returned to what it was - i would visit again. Wet N Wild... am leaving this one out ! Because i've never been a fan of waterparks! lol. If you've made it this far, congrats! So my question is, What will get you back into the parks? Are you excited about anything coming up that has been announced at the parks? The things I have said are just my opinion! Some people might not care about street theatre, they might want a massive ride or something. Neway, i think this might be interesting nate

Keep the river ride, keep the boats and the general river course. But change the ride to a Looney Tunes Shoot em up! Install laser guns along each row of seats, upgrade the theming along the banks of the river, and give families things to shoot at! Think Buzz Lightyear or Toy Story Mania. It means the building wouldn't need a lot of doing up, it's cheaper then building somethign brand new! And its a ride that people could ride over and over with the whole family! OR! Get the water out of the river and build a track that 2 seater cars can travel along and spin 360 with the same laser gun challenge. use the exsisting infrastructure, just update the themeing and make it interactive

Hey everyone - Just came back from a one week trip to Singapore - and of course visited USS. Had a great day out - regardless of Battlestar being open. 5 minute wait for Mummy and Jurassic Park, and that was simply the walk through the queue. Beautiful park, very very small. It felt like the same size as Seaworld or Movieworld, but everything is pretty compact. Mummy ride was fantastic! Definitly my favorite ride ever! Jurassic Park was unbelievably wet. We were soaked to the core after the drop down and then spent the rest of the day wet. Waterworld stunt show was excellent but I'd say about 10% of the timings was out. But the warmup guys were great, and dare I say, one of the best audience warm up crews I have seen. Won't bother posting our pics here as we didn't take pics of anything that hasn't already been seen. We booked the hotel as part of the USS deal, so had a free shuttle to the park. If you can afford to get to Singapore spend 2 days! 1 day at USS (you won't need any longer) and the second day shopping! Nate

Finally got around to seeing the show this morning. Had little interest beforehand and after reading the mixed reviews decided it was time to check it out. Audience interaction parts were funny and clever. It worked really well. The Hollywood producer is a terrible terrible actor.. please cut that part completely. There seems to be no need for it. The stunts.... cars going round in circles..... It got pretty boring after a while. The last sequence with the flyover worked well. The audience I was viewing with seemed to enjoy the show. Big cheers etc... but as a repeat attraction I doubt any but the diehard car enthusiasts would give this a second viewing 2/5

Visited MW this morning to check out the Narnia Tour = attached some pictures from the attraction. Overview - Little tent just past Superman escape and near Lethal holds the queue. We were on the first group to leave right on 10. They tell you not to take any pictures while traveling to and from the Narnia studio as other movies are currently being filmed on site. One woman was filming and the shuttle was stopped midway to the studio. There is no voiceover or announcer on the trip to the studio. Arrived at studio 5, and it is holding the ship which was being used on the coast. Also holds some props, costuming and another set. The tour guide person gave a little bit of background about the set and the props, and then we were allowed to climb up some scaffolding and onto the main deck of the ship. Warned not to touch anything, but photos were allowed. Left the ship, got in the shuttle and returned to the queue. As a temp attraction this is just ok. It is incredible to see a set of this scale, however, the set by itself, and the thrown together feel of the entire attraction is off-putting. The studios are a mess. And i understand mw dosn't have the right to move in and clean up, but some of it looks like a dump. I had little to no interest in the Narnia movie before seeing the set, but will check out the movie now, just to see the set in action. Overall - If your into seeing hollywood sets - 5/5 stars - it probably dosn't get much spectacular than this. If your looking for an immersive experience like the long gone sfx show - don't bother. Also spoke to someone high up in management this morning (i was a previous employee at mw) and I asked them about the possibility of a return to full time studio tours etc. and they said while the park would love to do it, after the closure of this temp attraction there are no plans to start or create a new studio tour. nate couple more pics

"therefore most things that would normally be done for an event would be the usual opening day stuff, just done an hour earlier" So MW charge you for the extra hours time for all the staff. Cleaners, street washers, maintenance crew and staffing on the ride. i never said my math was perfect, just adding what knowledge i have to the discussion on pricing. Nate
-
Hi people, Just in regards to the pricing question. I am organizing a private party to be held at Movieworld and received a PDF booking file with all the pricings for events outside normal park hours. Pricing for ONE HOUR use outside normal park hours Batman Adventure - $3,000 Scooby-Doo - $3,000 Batwing - $2,200 Superman - $3,200 Wild West - $4,700 Lethal - $3,200 Shrek - $1,800 on top of this you also have to pay a venue hire fee which I have not been informed of costings yet. So - if stdragon is charging $135pp lets take a look at costings with 70 attendees $45pp for Superman Open 1 hour earlier $62pp for all day ticket maybe $5 pp for a event tshirt works out to around $110 total cost pp not including venue hire fee. neway - some info for ya Nate
