  1. Pretty bad results but I like the sound of the capital expenditure plan over the next three years. I'm hoping a big ride for next year.
  2. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=1428...4248&ref=mf
  3. It doesn't leave much room if it wasn't in the overflow. I like your ideas though joz. A little bit more specific information was in the paper today:
  4. What a difference 4 hours makes... As for the Light Rail, stage 1 will go from Griffith Uni to Broadbeach. Griffith to Helensvale is a possible future plan at this stage along with Broadbeach to Burleigh - neither of which are confirmed yet. With stage 1 due for completion in 2014, I doubt we'd see either of the future plans finished until probably 2018 (if they go ahead) when the Commonwealth Games could be hosted here. Any links with the theme parks would be after that so at least 10 years.
  5. I wouldn't mind it if one of the rides was something like this or this. Reading the end bit carefully, this isn't an expansion for Movie World. It is actually a proposed separate theme park - I guess like a copy of Ferrari World.
  6. Last year they advertised: Mazes Bedlam Manor Dragon Alley / Torture Chamber (wasn't this the same maze - just different names?) Fun House Zombie Kill Zone ShowsBloody Freestyle MotoX Les damned De Burlesque Nightmare House Knotts didn't start as a 13 maze etc event. Have a look at its history. It started with the Ghost Town section as the only attraction. Just like Knotts, MW is getting there slowly.
  7. Didn't MW do something like this a year or so ago in the April holiday period. I'm pretty sure they added some trampolines and a couple of basketball hoops to Kids WB. Does anyone remember anything similar? Maybe this could be some September holiday entertainment and not a permanent attraction?
  8. ^ It seems like they're slowly moving into line with Knotts and Universal (both of which do not allow costumes or masks at all).
  9. Movie World have started selling tickets for their seven Halloween Fright Nights in 2010. No information about mazes has been announced yet but ticket prices have. The first night is $20 for a MyFun member, with the last three nights being $40 for a non-MyFun member. It's good to see they've started offering cheaper prices for those first few nights and not charging a flat rate throughout, then discounting at the last minute. As with last year, the major rides close at 9pm with everything else going until 11pm. Finally, they have banned masks which prevent facial identification this year.
  10. Yep. Taipan = Thrillseeker = Wild Wave Roller Coaster http://www.parkz.com.au/parks/AU/Gold_Coas...rillseeker.html
  11. V8's and Rock Climbing in Ocean Parade, Basketball shooting and balloon popping in Gold Rush. Are these good examples? As you said FlowRider is fine - it is in an appropriately themed zone but the others, not so much.
  12. Copying WnW? How is getting a FlowBarrel copying WNW? WNW are getting a smaller version of DWs FlowRider (one person at a time instead of two). My comment before as construction started was that it could be a FlowBarrel not that it is a FlowBarrel. Also, (since my original post about FlowBarrel) I have found out that the FlowBarrel can only be implemented if it is part of the Wave House venture by Wave Loch. Individual installations cannot be purchased. From this point on a vow to stop listening to Randy. Well if they wanted to go ahead with their original plans, they wouldn't need to move the FlowRider - only AVPX. Even though it is heaps bigger, AVPX would probably be easier/cheaper/better to move than the FlowRider because it wouldn't require a whole new concrete structure, just a flat base (which is already at Blue Lagoon). After all it makes sense for FlowRider to be in Ocean Parade.
  13. Climb back up the tube... Seriously though, there are escape hatches on the slides. If you look at the latest Parkz update, you can see there is a darker, outset part of the slides at the top. I'd assume the same thing would appear at the lowest point. Would it actually be possible to get stuck at the top of the slide (perfectly balanced). Surely you could give yourself a bit of a push down unlike ). I wouldn't think they'd need the stairs and hatch...?
  14. ^ Other theme parks do it with two movies. Universal Studios Japan has both Shrek 4-D and Sesame Street 4-D Movie Magic in the same theatre. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is similar. They rotate between Pirates 4-D and the Sesame one mentioned above. In saying that though, I think I'd prefer one good movie over a few average/poor ones.
  15. I don't think they're removing it - just a week of annual maintenance. According to Dreamworld's maintenance page:
  16. I'm guessing these are the AquaLoop parts. Red, Blue, Green and Purple slides. Photo from NearMap
  17. Getting ready to paint??? Also it will be closed for just under a month before the September school holidays. It should be interesting to see what will happen during that time.
  18. ^ What like the Jurassic Park rides at Universal parks?
  19. I'm guessing the equipment (well at least the seating) will remain. I think they were built by the Gold Coast company FX Illusions (those responsible for Police Academy, Maverick, Surf Rider, Superman Escape). Galleries of their work can be found here. Assuming this attraction did come with a 5 year license, you would have to assume that Movie Park Germany would be under the same license. Their attraction opened in May of 2004 and is still operating to this day (6 years, 2 months). If the lease was for 5 years hopefully Movie World will resign like Movie Park did.
  20. Wow, triple post ... is anyone else interested? Going past on Thursday I saw what looked like a crane at the water park from across the Broadwater. I'm guessing vertical construction has started by now. It will be interesting to see how the attractions will interact with each other.
  21. I'm curious as to how they will get the zipline harness thing () back to the top after someone has ridden it. I've ridden a zipline about 100m long and we had to attach a rope to the zipline harness thing to winch it back up to the top. Doing this across the park probably wouldn't be the most practical solution. Trying to avoid all buildings and structures these are a couple of possible locations using the 200m length:
  22. Two years later and MyFun has had another redesign. When first looking at the homepage I thought it looked much nicer than the previous one which featured Flickr photos, in-company advertising and a whole lot of things sort of just tacked on. But, when I moved onto any of the other pages, they have just replaced the header and footer which continues the previous tacked on theme. Hopefully I'm just too soon and they are going to redesign the other pages shortly.
  23. I wonder if the lighting could be anything like Space Mountain (look at about 1:30):
  24. Gazza you missed one: User 2902. Oh, Happy Birthday to you and your brothers, James.
