  1. The back row is fine. Yeah, it could do with a lick of paint, but it's no AA. There are some rides that just hurt - Abyss isn't one of them yet.
  2. The chairlift is still operating, although on really slow mode. As I was sitting watching Goliath I heard a voice call out from above. A guy had been stuck up there for about 10 minutes. He was the only one on the ride at the time. I had a chat to him there, then we bumped into him a couple of times later on.
  3. I ordered my platinum pass two weeks ago and still haven't received it yet. I used a combination of my receipt (which has no bar code) and last year's pass to gain entry - it was no problem. The platinum pass is a cool graphite colour and is different from the regular pass (which is usually based on a ride in the park). I told Andrew Sharry about my lack of new card and he asked if it was a problem and I said it wasn't. Andrew and Ross Ogilvie were very cool and actually introduced themselves to me whilst I was taking photos of Goliath. We had a good chat about a variety of things. Apparently, Ross also suffers from motion sickness. He was the one responsible for the theming around the new ride. According to their Facebook page, AW will probably be open tomorrow.
  4. Yeah, a bit. It felt like the ride went on for about 2 minutes. I was fine starting off (it's probably less sick making than Bounty) but after you start to spin a bit, you get some then. I took a travacalm beforehand and was okay. The ride certainly makes you feel like you have run a marathon, even if it's smooth.
  5. Yeah, having lunch now having ridden Goliath. Also got to chat with Andrew Sharry and Ross. The ride and theming looks fantastic. The hang time was just incredible and it's a long way when you look down. The harness is excellent, giving you lots of freedom. The park is empty and the weather has cleared. And Inferno is running - 4 shots, 1 drop.
  6. That theming looks excellent - that overcast weather really suits it too.
  7. I think, chances are, there are going to be a couple of good hours during Saturday. There will be a window and hopefully everyone else will be at the show or home.
  8. So you can just cut through the studios to get to WWF these days? 😉
  9. Yeah, good story, tonight. The ride looks great as do the gardens around it. People looked pretty happy, although I loved the anchor's reaction: 'ah,no'.
  10. Yeah, there was a time when an ad for VRTPs appeared before every film at the cinema or on videotape. Bizarrely enough, you're more likely to see an advert for Disney or Universal these days on YouTube.
  11. Whilst I agree with some of the views above, you guys have just been gifted this amazing world class attraction. These are hard economic times, but this is a game changer. Hopefully, the average joe will see this and want to hit the park and give VRTP the cash injection it needs to fix SW. Enjoy it guys: I look forward to riding it next time I'm over.
  12. Apparently Physics Day is Thursday this year. http://stawa.net/event/physics-day-2016/
  13. Great review except the 'of of fame' bit. Sounds like everyone is really enjoying it.
  14. It sounds like they're going to have a media sneak preview some time soon. And, of course, they'll have their Physics day on Friday.
  15. It was new last season. It's the meeting place. Hopefully, you're going this season? The early bird season passes are pretty good value.
  16. I remember when every theme park had its own video back in the 90s. I got the ones for MW, Disneyland, USH, WDW and Disneyland Paris. Another favourite is The History Channel's Walt Disney World special from 2005. Also enjoyed the Tatsu and Legacy of Arrow docos.
  17. Yeah, they do, that's why it's called the early bird price. Plus, if you really want to support the park, buy the platinum pass. And, you're right, it's not as good as the GC parks, but then again, they're not as good as Disney or Universal. I get it. AW is a cool place to hang if you want that themepark feeling in Perth. I think @grrofunger said it best, without Steve Sicerich that place wouldn't still be in business.
  18. I thought they were $160 or something. Also just noticed that the platinum pass renewal is currently $30 cheaper than the advertised price. Interesting, but not a lot of other benefits. Who wants another special cap? Also noted that they said free entry to the special event nights, giving Fright Nights as an example.
  19. Interesting that the price of the pass went down, but so did the discount on f&b and merch - from 25% to 20% off.
  20. Although I do like that flower arrangement for theming. The Platinum Season Passes went on sale last Friday for those people who already have them.
  21. GP - general public or Grand Prix? That clock is near the lockers, the office and toilets. It is probably fairly recent.
  22. ^How can you tell? The trick to getting a good phone pic is to place the camera up against the fence with the iris in one of the gaps. Great for getting up close with the locals too.
  23. Spot on as usual, @Mark Shaw. The font does look a little comic bookish and it.does make you wonder about the animal's head and the rest of the teaser campaign. Unfortunately, due to motion sickness, I won't be riding it much, if at all. I just hope there's not too many other people in the same boat.
