  1. Based on this news report, this looks like it might actually be an improvement on the Jet Ski rubbish we've endured over the past few years!
  2. and going over the lake could make it a bit unique within Australia, as I don't know of any other Aussie coasters that do go over water. With some thought, they might even also be able to incorporate an underground section, a bit like one at Alton Towers in the UK. There's allsorts that can be done to make the experience unique, giving tourists genuine reasons to want to go on it, rather than one of the numerous other coasters.
  3. The island at Dreamworld could be guest accessible and the river could be used too (as it used to be). They're both space that could be very much part of the guest experience, if only the owners had the required guts and determination!
  4. To be joking about the death of innocent people is a sick, immature, and downright nasty thing to do. Shameful.
  5. I was thinking it's a bit odd the merchandise shop is fully stocked and ready to go yet the ride's not open.
  6. But do they even have any other business now. Didn't they used to own bowling alleys, but sold them off to "focus on" (destroying) their Theme Park business?
  7. Since there's no official details forthcoming, please post here your best guess (that's all we have) on what has caused SkyVoyager not to open as planned. My guess is they screwed up the synchronisation of the graphics and motion so badly that everyone who took a test ride (if anyone even has) got really bad motion sickness and threw up. Well that's based on nothing whatsoever, but that's exactly the information we have!
  8. Well, they've appointed an obviously poor candidate as CEO, and by the looksof it also given him no real incentive to actually spendthe money that's obviously needed. Quite the opposite, in fact. Of all Australian theme parks, the one thing Dreamworld really has an advantage over the others is its size. So now they want to reduce that, rather than being bold and brave and utilising it to really make people go "Wow! Dreamworld is way bigger and better than the other parks!" Sad, and disappointing to say the least. Oh, and "capital light" events are definitely NOT a solution!
  9. To my knowledge, there was never a plan for a lazy river. However there is a plan to construct an adventure river in Whitewater World, which as far as I know is still happening.
  10. Some of the things I saw when on my "Travel Path" where actually quite interesting. Don't get me wrong. The vast majority were very boring, but just one or two were interesting!
  11. No I don't think so, but then again I know nothingwhatsoever about how businesses recuit staff, having only about 10 years experience in recruiting staff myself. I'm also a bit simple.
  12. Hire the right staff, and treat them well, and they'll treat the customers well because they'll WANT to!
  13. I agree 10000% Slick. I know for a fact Sir Billy Butlin did that, and I'd be very surprised if Walt Disney didn't also. It's about basically taking pride in what you're offering your customers, and it makes ALL the difference.
  14. Much friendlier staff! Dreamworld generally has this one pretty much right. The other parks don't!
  15. Can't fault your optimism, but to call it early testing after all this time really is a stretch!
  16. I had no idea. I guess I must have learned something new today. Thanks so much for enlightening me. Allow me to return the favour. You know projectors aren't the same as projection mapping, right?
  17. So there's still no projection mapping then by the sound of it. Just TV screens.
  18. You mention "projections" several times. If there is any actual projection mapping, it's been added in the last few weeks. All I've seen so far is TV screens. What sort of imagery / video effects were portrayed in the projection mapping you refer to?
  19. If car stunts are deemed 'too expensive' due to insurance etc, they could use that arena for a new version of something they used to do in one of the studios or theatres (long time ago and went to various attractions in each, so not sure which). An outdoor show about how various special effects in movies are made.
  20. bT was by far the best ride I've been on in Australia, and one of the best I've been on in the world! Memories of when Sea World was a great theme park!
