  1. As Richard said, I think guests are able to notice the difference between a ride like Lethal Weapon and a ride like Superman Escape. Sure, at first they may just be coasters but after riding them there is a huge difference.
  2. I'd like to see Dreamworld invest in a decent family ride. I can't think of a single 'major' family attraction at Dreamworld. Sure, they have Nick Central - but that's for kids, not families. They have Wiggles World - but that's for toddlers, not families. They do have some low-budget family rides like Eureka, the Log Flume, and River Rapids. But c'mon, there's not much the whole family can enjoy. Regardless of what anyone here says, it's obvious that Dreamworld isn't just after thrill-seekers...
  3. Can anyone give me a logical reason as to why Movie World is saying no to carry-on luggage? Or why Superman Escape was designed this way? Most subway networks allow you to carry bags and cameras etc. - heck, even other Intamin roller-coasters like California Screamin' let you take luggage on board. Secondly, if they are not letting you take stuff on-board, surely they'd let you store stuff for free (for the first hour). Yes, this point has been discussed before, but hopefully the more it's mentioned the more chance we have of them cancelling the fee. Dreamworld has recently redesigned the Claw's queuing system to accommodate a new set of metal cubby holes (similar to Wipeout's). And amazingly enough, they don't charge you...
  4. Umm, I can't help you there sorry. I have recently formatted my computer (and didn't bother backing up my RCT files). I'm sure there are still people on these forums with the file though.
  5. I think Movie World has enough "thrilling" coasters for now . I'd love to see Dreamworld get stuck in with a new coaster.
  6. What? Superman closed? Can you give me a link to the exact page? I can't seem to find it on Movie World's website.
  7. Well... it beats Movie World's website. Somehow, I have a feeling that Kyle and The Theme Park Master are actually the same person...
  8. So I assume this new park will have a 5000ft Sling Shot (with several simulators preceding it)?
  9. After accidentally voting 'yes' in the above poll (I was answering the question 'Should the Wipeout still be operating?'), I think that the Wipeout is a great ride and I'm confident that Dreamworld's maintenance department are doing a good-enough job to keep it operating in a fun and safe manner.
  10. Is it really necessary to ask such questions? Firstly, I have already conveyed my ideas about what I think of the new area in its current state (especially after its official opening). Secondly, I said they'll do something "nice"... not "spectacular".
  11. When I say “themed”, I’m talking about anything other than the bland area we see today. If it was my choice I would’ve added some big trees and a nice garden with some minor themeing elements around the splash down pool (to compliment the trees – i.e. fake rocks). I'm sure they'll do something nice with the area in the next few weeks though.
  12. While I do respect your (slightly biased) opinion Clint, I still don’t agree entirely (regardless of any problems with comprehension). Wet ‘n’ Wild has been under-capacitated for ages. Why do you think they’re only acting upon this now? Now I’m not saying it’s bad that they are trying to compete with Dreamworld Water Park, I’m just saying it seems a ‘rushed, last minute’ addition. Would it have killed them to add some paint or trees? I think the only reason why the area is so bland is that it's been hugely rushed. Only my opinion though, and the great thing about opinions is that we can all have our own. As you have said, I'm sure this ride will do wonders for Wet 'n' Wild (capacity & attendance wise).
  13. I’m with GoBoi. Wet ‘n’ Wild has certainly let itself down with this attraction. It doesn’t reflect the quality we’ve come to expect from WVTP (i.e. it has no themeing whatsoever, compared to the rich themeing on both Buccaneer Bay and Terror Canyon). It’s blatantly obvious that this pathetic half-baked addition to the park is merely there to compete with the up and coming Dreamworld Water Park. The new area offers nothing more than capacity improvements and a few mild thrills. While I'll agree that the actual slides look fun, I'm annoyed at the lack of themeing and creativity. At the very least, let’s hope they put a nice garden around it.
  14. Nice to see some more photos of the ride. They're almost as cool as my new Revenge of the Mummy signature.
  15. We stayed in the Howard Johnson on S Harbor Blvd (less than 50 metres from the Disneyland entrance - same road). I can't remember much of Katella Ave, we only drove through it after exiting the Interstate 5. There is a Denny's almost opposite Disneyland I think.
  16. Two on-ride videos of Expedition Everest - WDI's latest masterpiece, currently undergoing large-scale testing - have leaked and are now avaliable for download on 'Inside the Magic'. I haven't yet watched them as they're only 66% downloaded.
  17. Fifty years of magic have passed since Walt Disney opened the world’s first truly ‘Magical Kingdom’ – Disneyland. The park is now in full swing, day and night, celebrating this triumphant birthday. And what a celebration! I just arrived home from a ten day stay in Anaheim, California at a hotel located just down the road from the Disneyland Resort. On our trip, along with shopping and other sightseeing, we visited Disneyland, Disney’s California Adventure, Universal Studios, SeaWorld Adventure Park (in San Diego) and San Diego Zoo. While this was my second visit to Disneyland, I had so much more fun this time. I really enjoyed the new ‘Remember… Dreams Come True’ fireworks show and ‘Fantasmic’ – a spectacular night-time special effects show. ‘Walt Disney’s Parade of Dreams’ was also a highlight. As anyone who has visited the Disneyland Resort will agree, the park has a great atmosphere – established mainly by the welcoming staff (including Mickey Mouse), excellent themeing and most importantly: the Disney music. Other attractions at the Disneyland Resort that I really enjoyed included the Indiana Jones Adventure, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, California Screamin’, and the new Space Mountain (loved the music). Nor can you leave out the classic Disney rides – the Matterhorn Bobsleds, Splash Mountain (best flume ride I’ve ever been on), Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion. I was really impressed with the queues at Universal Studios and Disneyland… they manage to get through double the people in half the time (compared to our parks). Something I also noticed, which would help to speed up the queue, is that they load and unload at the same time – i.e. when the restraints unlock, the doors open to let the next set of passengers onto the ride. This would save quite a few seconds each cycle. It all adds up. Something else I was impressed with was the cooling system on outdoor queues. Particularly with Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios where half of the queue is indoor (with air conditioning), and half is outdoor. To combat the Californian heat outside, the ride has fans, each with special cooling pipes in front of them, covering every section of the queue. It sure beats mist. (These were not in operating though because it’s winter in Los Angeles at the moment). We sure could do with some of these at Dreamworld. Overall, the trip was awesome. Anyone who hasn't yet experienced some of the '50th Magic' should book now.
  18. No one here is complaining about Movie World's advertising. I just find it strange, as I said earlier, that a site like R-C.com.au wasn't invited to the Superman Escape media day - which would have provided Movie World with "free advertising" (on the same site they're now paying to advertise on). My signature is a reflection of Movie World's website - something consisting of poor design and out-of-date content.
  19. I don't think that the attachment is displaying properly. Here is the same image on ImageShack: I can't understand Movie World's logic - "I don't want R-C.com.au at the media day but I'm sure going to spend lots of money advertising on their site."
  20. Movie World is advertising Superman Escape on Google's pay-per-click network - AdWords. See attached photo.
  21. It seems that the world already has a 'Dreamworld Water Park'!
  22. Ben, why are you being so arrogant about Movie World's new ride? It's fact that Dreamworld has no decent coasters, nor the plans to build one for the next couple of years (well at least not until the water park is finished). Let's face it, Movie World "pwns" Dreamworld in terms of coasters.
  23. Most Intamin coasters are like that - it's something to do with the design of the train/wheels (which provide the trademark Intamin 'smoothness'). The Superman figure is attached permanently.
  24. MRT usually stands for "Mass Rapid Transit". It's a type of railway system that's designed to transport hundreds of commuters to their destinations in minimal time. But as Gazza said, it could easily stand for "Metropolis Railway Transport".
