  1. I really wouldn't like to see a universal park here. I just went to Orlando and I found it very dated. Who really cares about men in black or twister or event the mummy these days. Disney is timeless. In 50 years people will still enjoy peter pans flight. Boone will care about the men in black ride. I did really enjoy the wizarding world of Harry potter and Springfield USA but that's really it.
  2. I think a small scale disneyland resort could be very successful in Australia. If you just take the best parts of disneyland and put it in it could be affordable for disney. I'd out I the following; Sleeping beauty's castle Peter pans flight Tea cups Disneyland railroad Snow whites scary adventure Pirates of the Caribbean Haunted mansion Space mountain Splash mountain Indiana jones Jungle cruise Tower of terror Main Street USA Micro New Orleans Micro adventure land This would be enough for Australian guests and still leaves enough missing from the American parks for families who would normally travel to still travel there.
  3. So what kind if ride are talking about? Like a small version if disneys autopia?
  4. Do you think the replacement will be finished my March?
  5. Any update on Movie Worlds plans for this area of the park. Just been to disneyland and experienced real dark rides. Movie world could use a good dark ride.
  6. For anyone reading this for a future visit, I would suggest when planning your time there avoid the weekends. I was at Disneyland on August 19th and 20th (Monday, Tuesday) and we didn't have a wait that exceeded an hour the whole time we were there. I'd say choose your time of the year very carefully. I think we went just at the very end of school holidays if not the first and second days back.
  7. Nah I wouldn't bother with radiator springs fast pass. Just go straight there and get in the normal line
  8. Ok so I am currently in the US on a holiday and hitting some parks. Am currently in Orlando at Universal which apart from the wizarding world of Harry Potter is pretty crap. However, I was absolutely enthralll and in love with Disneyland when I was in Anaheim. Here are my tips. Stay in one of the hotels right near the entrance to Disney land like the Fairfield inn. This allows you to go to the park first thing when lines are short and get a whole bunch of rides out of the way quick. I would suggest going to fantasy land first thing and hitting all the dark rides as these will get supper busy as later rising families hit the park later. I would then fast pass Indiana jones and while waiting hit rides like pirates and the haunted mansion. You will definitely need to fast pass space mountain cause its extremely busy. Staying close to the park allowed you to get to the park early, do all the rides, get your hand stamp and then come back at night for the fireworks display. I would suggest getting there around 8 to get a good seat. After the fireworks you can then go and catch the late performance of Fantasmic which is putty quiet. In terms of California Adventure, there is not much there other than cars land. I would suggest getting there at opening and going straight to a world of colour fast pass kiosk to book for the night show. Then go straight to radiator springs racers. When I went the like was a 45 min wait from opening and the line just to get your fast pass ticket was at least a 30 minute wait. Fast passes had run out for the entire day by about 10. The Aladdin show is fantastic as well. We were done at California adventure by about 2 o'clock which allowed me to go back to Disney land (we had park hoppers) and do some more rides there befo doing some shopping, going back to the room for a nap and then going back to California adventure for world of colour. I am quite sad that I won't be able to go back to Disneyland for quite a while. It is without a doubt the best theme park I've ever been to.
  9. Any news on this? Seems odd they still haven't done anything with the space
  10. Lol yeah and I bought ocarina of time for N64 and it was $99 and I can buy a Wii U game on release next month for $78
  11. I'm not saying this is the reason it won't happen. I'm saying that its very different now to the n and a bugger potential for risk. Everything is more expensive now. I don't need to prove it its fact. The only exception is probably consumer electronics.
  12. Ahh sorry gazza but that's wrong. In 1998 my parents sold their house for 120,000 today it's worth 750,000 today. Now I'm sure that food and drink costs have not gone up that much. A happy meal after all has only gone up 2 bucks. Inflation is not relative
  13. Problem is that these days land and building costs are so expensive compared to when the GC parks were built that you probably couldn't afford to shut it for pretty much 1/3 of the year.
  14. The problem is, people will not travel to Victoria for a theme park. It would be a tack on to an existing trip. I don't think Australia can have too many large theme parks. Gold Coast is so established an has such great weather that I don't see the point putting one here. As much as u would love a universal here.
  15. Went on this yesterday. Big DC Comics fan however did not really like this ride. Was very boring I felt, I actually think Batman the Ride was better. I usually like family rides and dark rides but this was uneventful. Looking forward to comparing it to the toy story one at Disneyland in August.
  16. Hello all. Just thought I'd let you know that today was a huge success. Flight got in early, drive to MW only took 40 minutes got Superman, Arkham, GL, JL, spooky coaster and wild West done in an hour and a half. Saw most Main Street shows, stunt driver and then rode Arkham once more and Superman twice more. Awesome day, will definitely do it again some time. I think the Gold Coast 600 being on today kept crowds down. At the airport now waiting for flight home.
  17. K cool. Yeah planning to leave MW at 5, check in for my flight closes at 7:20 so all should be good then
  18. Yeah but we're only talking like an extra 30 minutes yeah?
  19. Can anyone tell me what the traffic will be like heading from movie world back to brisbane airport on a Sunday arvo. I would guess it wouldn't be that busy? Still should only take an hour?
  20. Yeah that's right 360 includes all costs. By flight gets in at 8 so even if it's delayed an hour would still get to mw at around 10:30. I'm pretty confident that first flight out of tulla in the morning will run on time. This while exercise is a bit if a risk but makes it that little more exciting. And tbh, I didn't want to stay over night (plus my mate has plans Saturday), I'm sick of grubby Gold Coast hotel rooms. If i was going to stay I would stay somewhere like the Hilton And its not worth the money when I can do a day trip. Il let you all k ow how I go! Sorry for the typos. Bloody iphone Sorry for the typos. Bloody iphone
  21. You can say what if what if what if but to make sure youre not going up and it rains the whole day, its the best way to do it. Ive never had a flight delayed. And I only want to go to movie World, dont want to go to Surfers or anywhere else and this way it only uses a day and I dont have to take any time off work. Plus, a day trip is exciting!
  22. Flying into brisbane because flights are cheaper in and out of brisbane than gold coast last minute. Only booked today because if i booked too fair in advance could be a waste of money due to weather.
  23. Hello all. Making my first movie world day trip this Sunday. Going to cost around 360 to do it from Melbourne. Not too ba seeing as most people spend close to this on a night out! Flying in to brissy at 8am then hiring a car to get down to mw then flying back at 8pm. Looking forward to trying the Arkham an JL
  24. I'm pumped to see how this new retheme and the new spring ride will reduce queues all accross the park! It was pretty bad this summer, especially when lantern had broken down and every teen ager was pretty much lined up for Superman. 25. I think this topic and the spring 2012 attraction thread should be merged
