  1. Inspecting every part of the track and structure will take much longer than a usual steel coaster too
  2. While I am within that industry, I am in agreeance that architects shouldn’t be involved with attraction design. Stores and food outlets, yet. A local office design Penguin Encounter, which isn’t bad, but nothing amazing. They are also involved with Vortex, DC Rivals and Jet Rescue to just name a few. And none of them have an inspiring designs. SkyVoyager is the ambitious design we’ve seen, but it doesn’t necessarily pay off (which has been heavily discussed before). I’ve got a couple friends who have worked on a few of these projects over the years and some definitely haven’t become what was originally hoped for. Whether it was budget, creative differences, licensing or original design ideas weren’t working, etc.
  3. I think realistically it’s going to be September 2021
  4. To my knowledge, yes and apparently they are waiting for a better time to announce it’s officially closed
  5. This nearmap update from early August shows the flooring still hasn’t been replaced, but as I’ve posted already, the bucket has returned. It’s not listed under maintenance on the website, so we should see the new flooring installed before they reopen
  6. @rappa I thought the same, was there ever a reason for it’s removal
  7. @Slick it’s been some time, so here’s the latest billboard update for you
  8. I was just reading though all the info on DE again and realised that WWW will only be open September to January with some weekends either side of those dates.. I would have thought they’d keep the park open until April (Easter school holidays) and then they’d shut. Because between April and January it can still be very hot. EDIT: I just read some some comments on DWs socials and they said they will be opening weekends from January to March and then will fully reopen for the Easter holidays. So it’s likely they will then fully close until September holidays
  9. There were workmen on site yesterday doing something on this section of track
  10. There’s an all new night time event this October at Sea World “All aboard me mateys! Sea Monsters are coming to Sea World! Get ready to set sail this October in an all new after dark event, Sea World Spooky Nights. Join the Ghost Captain and his rag tag crew on an exciting quest of discovery and adventure…but watch out for the Sea Monsters along the way! Village Roadshow One Pass Holders will be entitled to one FREE entry to Sea World Spooky Nights.” https://seaworld.com.au/spooky-nights?utm_medium=email&utm_source=sfmc&utm_campaign=sw-spookynights-vrop&utm_sitecore=&utm_content=ERDM01&utm_term=200811-SWSW-Launch-OP&sfmc_id=55130783
  11. Thanks for that report, but I didn’t realise the Stingray at Dreamworld was such a loved attraction.
  12. @aussienetman I doubt that as they were painting it while guests were in the park
  13. Wet n Wild will not be open Monday to Wednesday from August 10. From September 17, 7 day operation will return
  14. Driving past DW this morning I noticed that all staff are having to park on the eastern side of the carpark (closed part to the highway). Some areas of the carpark have been roped off. This week the bucket for the Pipeline Plunge has finally returned too
  15. @Brad2912 my mistake, this year would have been the 11th year. The family event began in 2006 and then in 2009 they changed it, but it was in 2011 when the name was introduced
  16. This year would have been the events 10th anniversary in the Fright Nights format. Surely they could create some merch to match this and bring in some limited edition stuff from years past
  17. Despite the Universal Orlando HHN event not running this year, the park decided to still open their event tribute store. If you don’t know what it is, it’s a themed store based around that year’s event and they sell merch, etc. With Fright Nights not going ahead I’d love to see Movie World do a similar thing. I was thinking the building to the right of Main Street, just before you walk under the roof, would be an ideal location for said store. It could include some pros from last years event or even previous year’s if they still have them. And sell general merch for the event and possibly old merch from previous years. Maybe it could open for the entirety of October. That allows for people to stilol enjoy a small part of the event this year. @Bikash Randhawa just a possible idea for the park, if it hasn’t already been considered
  18. I’d say since all forms of signage are now gone and have been replaced by “Staff only” signage. It seems we won’t be getting a new show for some time, or ever again
  19. But I feel like that pathway is essential for connecting the park. Without it, this area still remains a dead end
  20. Since no one had yet visited/posted about WnW since its reopening, I thought I'd head down to the park and check it out. Firstly, because of the lack of attractions open and it being cold, there were very few people in the park. About a dozen cars were in the carpark. It seemed like their were more staff on than guests. At 11am there were 6 people in the wave pool and about 6 lifesavers watching said people. As you would expect, there were social distancing markers throughout the park Plenty of A frame too Hand sanitising stations like this one were throughout the open areas of the park, with several attached to walls too. Seating has been spread out and there are signs asking guests to not move them. Staff were regularly cleaning them too Plenty of attractions closed too Currently the only attractions open are the Wave Pool, Whirlpool Springs, Junior, AquaLoop, Constrictor, Aqua Racer and River Rapids. I feel like the park is already running at a lose with the amount of staff on vs guests, so I can understand why so much is closed. In summary, they're doing everything we expected. Not much is open. No one is visiting the park. And there are a lot of staff on.
  21. I visited WnW this morning and here is a look at the scales that were talked about earlier in the year Extensive maintenance work is happening on Calypso Beach And while I didn't get a photo of it, the shade sail has returned to the Black Hole and it appears all works on the structure are now complete
  22. Looking at all the drawings closer, Interestingly, it’s proposed that the train track path will be altered slightly to go closer to the Giant Drop. From what I can tell on these drawings, the path through the coasters site is there anymore, unless I’m missing it? I don’t mind the snake skeleton ‘themed’ roof structure over the path the ride building. It’s a shame that the station building couldn’t have had theming elements added in. I’d like to see it match the aesthetic style of the BuzzSaw station. I also like the arch/entry for the area, but I think it will look out of place between SkyVoyager and Fairytale Treasures. Pink, rust and then white. That could be an eye sore. Maybe it should have been pushed back further into the land? And will they put the coasters name on the sign or the lands name?
  23. That date is the first day of the school holidays. Hopefully COVID doesn’t escalate in qld again so they can reopen
