"Construction of the Topgolf attraction is anticipated to begin within the next few months and will span across 15 acres. Construction of the building and driving range is planned to be next to a new nine-storey hotel and lakeside precinct." https://brisbanedevelopment.com/35-million-topgolf-attraction-coming-movie-world/

I did read that in a news article (I think it was with the announcement of TopGolf), but I don't think an official statement or article has been released about the hotel.

Arkham Asylum - VR coaster at Movie World
themagician replied to UpperCoomera's topic in Theme Park Discussion
But if this is a 'world's best' attraction, and is a coaster, then I'd imagine it to be quite big, and that would take quite a long time wouldn't it? And depending on where it's built, major ground works may be required, so they'd have to start earlier if they were aiming for a Summer 2017 opening, as an example. So wouldn't they have to start towards to the end of this year, so they would announce it just before construction began? -

^I feel like if this was the big announcement, they would've made a lot bigger deal about it. Not just a small article in the paper. I'd say the big announcement will be coming very very soon. -
Arkham Asylum - VR coaster at Movie World

I think AA is the best choice of ride to introduce this system, and will be interesting to see how the visuals come out, because I've seen some of the videos of it used in other parks and some of it hasn't looked that great. And hopefully it won't reduce the loading time. Does anyone know how you get them in other parks, as in, do you pick one out of a box, or are they attached the rides train, do you collect it while waiting to load the ride, or after the gates open? -
This sounds really cool, especially being able to walk to the top of AA. Would be really interesting to go behind the scenes of the rides too. And the price I think is pretty reasonable $299, or $350 for park entry to. And it's only available every Saturday, which is understandable. And it's a little cheaper than DWs VIP experience tickets.

????? he's finally back.

Yes there are signs at the turnstiles saying what aractions are closed. But it seems so stupid not to have opened the Chinatown alley for access to AA. I'm imagining that the queue will be even shorter now, and if people don't see the signs to say how to get to it, people would probably assume that it was closed to, making them even more annoyed. I am surprised they've fenced off that whole path, but I suppose for when they are painting the track, it would be unsafe for people to be passing under the track.

^yeah, for some reason they won't upload the correct way, when on my phone they are.

Went to SW this afternoon to check out the construction, and it's coming along nicely. They are blocking the 'fountain' from view now ? And I had a look at the seals in the Polar Bear Cub area, and they were really playful and seemed to enjoy that area much more. Despite Seal Harbour being a fairly good exhibition, I think it could be a lot better when some rocks, and a waterfall, like seen in the area they are currently in. Also, the monorail station at the front of the park had quite a few workmen repainting and repairing some of the steel work in the roof, as well as the barriers.

Couple of photos from TPSN

I'm fairly sure it's late August early September. It did say on SW maintenance that the monorail was closed until late August, but then they removed it from the website, but I'd assume around that time.

Just been to MW, and what a great day to go. Got on everything within 15 minutes. SE had 2 trains going, so got my final ride for a couple of months. All effects were working on all rides. No progress with DD today.

@joz I'm fairly sure the 'tried-to-be-coaster-but-doesn't-deserved-to-be-called-one' coaster is the MDMC. -
Doomsday Destroyer - 2016 Movie World construction
themagician replied to Hypermarket Hero's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I wonder if they are going to leave some of the gaps between the brick work, as seen in TPGs photo. But add some cool effect so it looks like the building is falling a part or has been attacked by the villains. -

Wow, looking goooood. Really happy to say that they are making the area immersive and not just leaving it open. I think installing those brick walls I definitely a smart choice. And welcome back @Theme Park Girl, thanks for updates. -
Thanks Clayton. Good to see the roof starting to take shape. I don't know why, but I find that photo of the big frozen coke laying on the ground a bit funny.

Kenny and Belinda are visiting China. In seriousness, it might just be a marketing campaign.

What? They've moved the fence back? -
Well, the ride didn't open until 1998, but the only performers I've known in the area was the western show that used to be in the start of this air before it was built. And then there was small show, halfway into the area, but that's all I've known about. I can't imagine the ride ever having performers.

The only thing new advertising it on Friday was a poster on one of the ticket booths saying about the app. I'm interested to here this now, if anyone is at the park in the near future, would they be able to be brave enough to record the sound and post it on here please.
-
When I was there on Friday I didn't notice any videos, where are they?
-
I've only seen a couple of ads for the app around the park, but I think it will become really useful once it's available at all 3 parks and more food stores are available. If this service does become popular, they could maybe even take it to the next level and use it in their retail stores, where you can select an item you want through the app, pay for it, and then when in the park you can go to the counter and collect your item.
-
No, as the fence is so far back, you can't get a good view of the ride, but I'd imagine it would've been drained for maintenance.

As someone who is familiar with this area of design/projects, that design for the carpark in that space is relatively good, with good amounts of vegetation, and hopefully the sound pollution isn't too bad for residents. I do agree that there are a couple of points which seem like they could be vegetation, or open, to provide easier movement. And Kopps Rd would need some modifications/upgraded to deal with the large volume of traffic that could be passing in and out of the car park. After seeing this now, it has changed my opinion on the idea.
