  1. Question for Mark if possible: What is the sell thru of fast passes like? Do they regularly sell out? Would you ever consider offering a season long fast pass option? perhaps as part of a platinum season pass? I guess the challenge would be finding the sweet spot price point to ensure no loss of profit on the fast passes depending on the current sell thru over the season. I am a regular fast pass purchaser but admittedly not every time i go. I'd happily pay around $200 per person maybe a bit more for an upfront season fast pass which is the equivalent of just under 6 fast passes. .....It's probably not worth it for the park.. Was just thinking about it the other day and preferring not to pay individually each time (budgeting reasons) and sometimes missing out in peak periods when arriving at the park later in the day. I'd be inclined to attend more (we already attend heaps) over the season if i knew i had fast pass each time, meaning i would spend more in the park on food over the season also. I quite often like to take the kids to the park after school and even during peak holidays times somedays just for the afternoon for a few hours.... we get donuts, ice cream etc - would be good knowing we could hit the park up anytime and not have to line up, do a couple of slides, a quick swim, get a snack and leave - i'd definitely attend more than the heaps we already do. I think i am living in fantasy land (just hating queues as i get older lol, yes even regular length queues) I believe fast passes are made available on 3% of the estimated attendance for the day so a season long option would only be able to be available for like 0.5% of estimated season attendance to allow for ongoing daily purchases of say 2.5% of estimated attendances. It may mean you still generate the profit but also piss less non purchasing people off as potentially on any given day you would have less people using fast pass (as the daily % on sale is less) and the season holders may not be there every day
  2. Went today, busy again which is good, so got fast passes. Saw the backpacks in action on the kraken, they are like drawstring backpacks and people can just wear them on their fronts as they go down the slide. the operator at the bottom quickly ties them back onto the raft after the rider takes it off and empties it and then sends it up, doesn't take long at all for the operator at the top to get the bag off the raft, also they were quick to fill with riders thongs etc- Overall , good idea and was executed very efficiently, i dont think it slowed down the ride time at all. the double loading was done well too.
  3. good mnews ! chairlift re-opened ! http://adventureworld.net.au/#/what's-on/chair-lift-reopened/
  4. i assumed it was the bottom station due to the netting, i don't want to add to any confusion etc - just going on memory of the location as i dont ride the chairlift often or walk around the lower 'takeoff' part often as its a dead area behind the pool. but i cant think of a grassbank at the bottom or top , there is no netting at the top location from memory also. Just thinking of when i have ridden i can kind of picture the e-stop locations - still if the operator is loading people right up to the edge the e-stop isnt exactly right there i dont think. it would be a split second thing and you wouldnt be expecting someone to fall - not making excuses but for the operator to hit the e-stop the way the ride is setup and how the loading takes place wouldnt be easy for them i dont think. I feel for the operator and the park
  5. you have ample warning to sit down when starting that ride before it gets anywhere near the ledge, its not like its hard either walk over , sit down, pull lever thingy down and away you go i understand the distraction of making sure your kid is in and safe but again ample time and just sit down !! i cant quite remember/picture where the e-stop button would be but if the operator was trying to help her in the chair the entire time and it got too close to the edge it would have been impossible to make it back to any e-stop button before she fell. its a fair drop too, would be concrete or bush from memory , not grass bank
  6. backpacks !! in worse news..........eek - https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/30486548/woman-falls-from-adventure-world-chairlift/ Not what the park needs
  7. Could you have soft bags or backpacks etc that team members at the top put peoples shoes etc in - then send the bags down the slide between riders or say every 5 rides or something? team member at the bottom collects and empties the bag into a collection point and sends the bag back up on the conveyor belt? this way people can wear their shoes, hats etc up to the top and collect them at the bottom? would the bags safely make their way down the slide? or would they get stuck/clog the funnel?
  8. They look snakey its the part of the hill after freefall thats the worst IMO
  9. AW has misting fans in the lines at Kahuna Cafe and near the tables , they are AWesome. Would be very good in the slide lines but just thinking about the setup of some of the lines may not be as easy as it seems to install.
  10. Of course ! but we are seasoned pros and i have also used the fast pass many times , so cheap for so much benefit. The average punter rocking up with family in tow for their once off visit wouldn't have a clue though. Agree on the wait time signage, would help
  11. Again, good work Mark and AW on listening and actioning issues/implementing quick fixes. As for the capacity limit and turning people away... what a brilliant predicament to be in
  12. I agree and its generally the lowest of low when dealing with social media comments. I just don't recall seeing so much negative feedback about AW , maybe i didn't look as much before? Some of the complaints are valid , a lot just whinging though. In a way Kraken has broken the park a little bit, a lot of complaints about 2 hour + waiting times, lack of shade at the top and the hot surfaces. Kraken has drawn a lot of people to AW and the place is busting at the seams, busier than i ever recall, but then what is the park to do .. not install big new attractions? then people whinge about that too. Valid complaints IMO would be about the surfaces and the temps on the feet but AW are trying to rectify that so you have to give them credit. I think the red bitumen surface was a mistake. More shade is needed in lines but again Mark has said that is coming and some temp shade has been installed so again credit to AW. Only other thing they could do is maybe have a staff member halfway up the hill or at the bottom telling people how long the wait at the top is and that might stop some people from walking up and getting pissed off when they get up there? We walked up the other day (much cooler in the new shade bit) burnt our feet at the top, saw the line, said no way, had a drink of the free water and caught the chair lift down - no real harm we will ride Kraken another day but others aren't as forgiving. AW have two different wrist band colours each day - 1 for season members and another for day passes. The majority of guests i have noticed recently are day pass members which would have less affinity and understanding of the park, understandable for this time of year, but these are the people coming in expecting a good day out and the ones walking away disgruntled, whinging to others and never coming back. I still love the place but if the other day was my first experience at the park i probably wouldn't rush back either.
  13. If the quality is there i don't think $24 is over the top, sounds like the quality wasn't there though...
  14. The snake didn't keep the people away today, i have never seen so many people there, was packed !!
  15. Is there anyone here we could send in "behind the scenes" to try and find the test dummies, get some photos? They might be in there somewhere?
  16. That is epic ! that is a lot of hill climbing , good job !! I didn't end up going , fell asleep on the couch, so the kids and wife settled for the pool in our backyard. Looks like i missed some action with the snake !! See if i can stay awake and try to make it tomorrow lol Kudos to Mark for listening to feedback and implementing some things to help with the feet burning and the drinking water up at the top of Kraken (please look at Dragon Kingdom's red path too, the little kids always complain about the hot path leading into the entrance and up to the safari cars etc- )
  17. i will probably head down around 3 or 4pm when hopefully a lot of people have had enough and leave
  18. I obviously need to move to Sydney where it doesn't get hot and i wont need to enjoy a swim or a water slide until after 3:30 each day. As if people wouldn't attend from 10am if they opened at that time like most normal parks. All the complaints suggest as such too. They can still have their twighlight special/hours but it shouldnt be at the expense of not opening during the main part of the day in summer ! I dont know why i care anyway, i never plan to visit the park.
