  1. I'm now 100% convinced this is a troll accoubt
  2. As a standalone statement that's fine. What in the hell does it have to do with Peppa Pig? I've also answered that I don't think it needs to carry on for another 10 years to be worth it. Pretend it did get cancelled or they pulled the pin on it today and decided they were doing nothing with that world ever again, conservatively, how long do you think it would be till they stopped repeating it? Here's how I think you do Bluey at DW: a show. Either live action or a screen based show. The reason I think that would work/ be OK is because if it involved the boys up the road, it would be well written and charming. I don't think you do a complex dark ride or full immersive themed land. I think a kiddie flat ride with Bluey characters on it would be shit, it would need to be something with, maybe not a narrative, but a reason for existing. DW is absolutely capable of doing these things, and if it wasn't, shut the place down now and be done with it.
  3. Some shows are around longer than others. What is your point?
  4. Please try not to damage the bottom of the barrel when you scrape it in future. I don't know why you brought up Peppa Pig. I straight up don't understand what point you're trying to make. Is it that you have to wait 10+ years to make a theme park land on something, or an entire theme park? What are you trying to say even? Did you know they were making new episodes of pingu for 20 years? Why is that relevant? Why did I bring it up? What does it have to do with anything? Who knows! But gosh didn't it look like I was making a point for a second there
  5. There is a 100% chance Bluey will still be relevant for a long time after they make new episodes. The reason for that being, it's a fantastic show. Like unironically good. You know it's good when the kids are watching it, then you're also watching it and 'omg I'm feeling an emotion from a show aimed at pre school age kids what in the hell?' The art of kids shows that are also quite enjoyable to watch and charming for adults has been lost over the years, Bluey does it perfectly. It's also made locally, fits naturally as hell into a current land, and is stupidly popular. The merch you'd sell in the first year alone would be worth a signing a 10 year contract for. I don't think IPs have to be current to be good. If they are good they'll stand the test of time. I mean shit look at all of Dreamworks land, when was the last thing anything has been from those properties? Also, unrelated, do them right and it doesn't matter how unfamiliar you are with the original. I went to Disneyland as a kid, and there was a heap of stuff I didn't realise was a TV show/Movie, just thought it was something original. I refuse to believe you couldn't achieve that level of quality with a Bluey presence. Also Peppa Pig, despite its longevity, is a steaming pile of the worst kind of shit, and you should be actually ashamed of yourself for comparing the two and suggesting Peppa was in anyway superior.
  6. Every time I see the words 'General Waste' written on a bin I'm always struck by how good a name that would be for a captain planet villan Also don't think its ABC, but mulligrubs Halloween maze https://youtu.be/2WW1-N9Q5KA Edit: @Naazon with rocket clock you could do scenes from books dotted throughout the queue! Possum magic would be a good one, be just an empty tree. Actually on kids books, does everyone remember Jeannie Baker? Window and Where the Forest meets the Sea were huge books for me as a kid
  7. @Naazon good idea, welcome to the executive suite! Purely for me it's because I like the rocket clock music better than I like the Mr. Squiggle theme. > Also if you call it 'Play school's rocket clock' you could play the theme at the start of the queue. The reason why that would be great is that the play school theme, as my younger friends would say, is dope af. Honestly this whole thing is a nostalgia trip. Also I just rewatched Mr. Squiggle for this post, I only just at the ripe old age twigged why Mr. Squiggle always drew stuff upside down. 😂🙃 Edit: @Brad2912 they're both BBC, but also amazing nostalgia trips. Super Ted's intro/back story always seemed to raise waaaaay more questions than it answered. I just rewatched and found myself just going: what? So? What? Who? Why? How? How? What? Why? Why? OMFG DID HE JUST RIP HIS OWN SKIN OFF!!?
  8. I'll be honest all this conversation has done is convince me that old computer game characters would be a terrible move for the park. In a world where you were straight up trying to make DW the best park you could, all of those suggestions are, I'm sorry to say, terrible. Not in anyway good. It's ok to have shit ideas that you think are good. I have an idea in my head to retheme motocoaster to the rocket clock from playschool. It's a woeful idea, but I still kinda think its really cool, get the music going and it'd be amazing! Sonic, crash bandicoot, ty? All shit. Honestly. I know it's kind of an extension of ABC World but Bluey is the only thing that works from a 'What would be in your dream park be' and the more realistic 'how do you cost effectively keep the park afloat ahead of land parcel sell off and sale to private equity'
  9. Do you think that that makes them clones?
  10. So just to get this right, we're bashing them for painting things AND for not painting things at the same time?
  11. Nah Scooby already gives away going backwards for free
  12. OMG what an embarrassing conversation to get leaked. Anything someone talks building a Disney Park it's normally pretty cringe but this is next level. As an aside how shit would an Australian Disney park be? Like in 10 years it'd be as good as the Hong Park was when it opened. Maybe. They'd struggle to get more than 2million through the gates which I think would support a Guardians coaster in tomorrow land, a crush coaster and maybe a frozen dark ride in fantasy land with philharmagic, and Adventure Land you'd get Adventurer's down under tree house, Some Phoned In Wilderness Explorer shit (it would literally be called that on the park map) and a static boat in a pond. Day tickets $150, 2 day tickets $295
  13. I get what you mean trying to integrate GD and ST, but Giant Drop is scary, I think the themeing should be scary, not funny. A drop bear theme is a funny joke, but it's not right for the most intimidating ride in the park. I think if you did a normal big boat shoot the chutes in Ocean Parade past Tail Spin, and a raptor on RHLR's site, get Bluey a proper presence in park, and a couple cute additions to the animal area (Quokkas anyone?) in the space of 2 years then the story of the park changes. It's a case of get a bunch of things close together to build momentum and get that that critical mass of worthwhile things to visit for/fill a day out, and the key is to do it quickly. I totally get the thinking behind ST, and they had to do something, but as it turns out there isn't really any one thing that would turn things around, so a couple of good rides on the cheaper side with some slam dunk sides and all of a sudden you're talking.
  14. Yeah night is definitely the norm for this sort of thing.
  15. I said what I meant. They got it by promising they were going to open a Koala Research Lab. Also the point about it being cancelled before covid, is it is not pandemic related despite the claims of many. Also It's currently 2022. The election is more than 2 years away. Quick edit to say I'm not arguing against stimulus or the merits of government assistance for DW at the time, merely the way it was don't in this instance was crappy. It's like if maccas got a grant to open a Ronald McDonald house for sick kids, and instead repurposed it to open another store. You can argue how it's different all you want but that's 100% the perception. They just have to ride it out. They'd still be ahead, there's no way this is $3million worth of bad publicity.
  16. I mean if they still intended to ever build it they could say that. I don't think they handled it well, but their initial statement needed to be better. At this point ride it out and don't let the damage get worse. Also saying it is a tourism grant is still missing the point. They got it promising they were going to do Koala Research. They were planning to build a ride when the program started, if they wanted to apply for a ride grant for SV they could have, and didn't. What they did apply for was a grant to build a Koala Research lab, that is what got approved. They then changed their minds on it (interestingly they weren't publicly talking about futire lab late in 2019). That is what people are upset about, that and the fact the government allowed them to do it. It's also Anastasia's government, though it's possible she didn't know about it because it's a fairly small amount in the grand scheme of things. As for the Koala advertisement, the bad taste in your mouth doesn't come from them. It's the right level where they haven't gone all in laying the boot in - which is wise because DW even these days does more than nothing for conservation, but instead they just take a little jab which seems pretty fair.
  17. There will be queues, but they will mostly be the manageable under 30min type. Should be enough people that there's still some atmosphere but not so many people that its a problem.
  18. August is a pretty good time to visit, queues are normally quite low, particularly during the week. Maintenance wise you're pretty sweet too, Green Lantern and Doomsday are down at MW, and Giant Drop/ Claw at DW. Depending on where you're from you could be OK with water parks - WnW just came off a surprisingly busy but througherly pleasant winter holiday period with Kiwis and people from Melbourne so apparently is warm enough for some. I think WnW alone is enough to tip the balance for me, but if I were taking family to the parks now I'd go MW over DW EDIT to say have an awesome holiday! Kids will have a ball 😃
  19. In other words the government extended a line of $70million credit to both, but part of what was offered to Ardent was a grant which didn't have to be repaid. So village could get a loan of $70million, Ardent could get a loan of $67million, and $3million was just there's to keep. My point in pointing this out isn't to cry unfair, but to point out to those that were trying to defend Ardent by saying 'Village got the same!' that it's not true. It also has zero relevance even if it were true btw, but as it an aside, it's not.
  20. Far out I'm going to explain this very clearly. This issue is that DW got a grant of about $3million for a thing. They then said 'we aren't doing that thing anymore. Can we use the money for building this thing instead?'. Government said 'Yes'. That is what it is, it's not about the merits of public funding for private works. It's not about the validity of this project v that project, it's about the apparent taking of funds for something altruistic, and changing it so you can build a ride. Also according to the articles at the time, Village got access to a $70million loan, Ardent got access to $66.9 loan, and a $3million grant. So 'it's the same!!1!' isn't true, and even if it was, you wouldn't have the issue of changing what the money was for. You can argue how big a deal it is, personally I don't think it's a massive deal, but it's probably not something you can just dismiss as clickbait.
  21. Did the government cancel and divert funds away from the Koala Research facility, and did they refuse the money back and insist that DW use it for a ride instead?
