  1. I will fix your bias for you so it makes sense. Well, I reckon they might lose more than just the two. Sure they can announce plans now. But I am thinking they are going to lose a decent attraction within the next three years (Buzzsaw is a given, Giant Drop and Sidewinder/Gold Coaster/Cyclone are in the last decade of their lives.) You gotta save money. VRTP Ardent is brilliant at closing things or reducing staffing levels and never answering why. Arkham Wipeout has been was closed for a bloody long time with no explanation. Same with slides over at WnW Mine Ride/BRC/Kevil Hill/Paddlewheeler/Buzzsaw for durations of time. They haven't been able to conduct anymore decommissioning at SW DW with Vikings Log Ride apart from removing the control system and the station braking system, Boats are long gone also. Suppose we gotta wait and see. But the issue here is they don't want to close anything. They don't want to be caught with their pants down. But it'll happen.
  2. What part of the land got sold? At 250% above book value, the rest of the land at Dreamworld is worth more as a redevelopment than as a theme park. Makes you wonder what they're up to.
  3. By that flawed logic, with Disney's latest earnings report being so bad they should let go of its imagineering department as it is just "behind the scenes."
  4. Tell me i'm wrong, but when it was clear the federal government wasn't going to bail Ardent out, they sacked a bunch of their employees and stopped building the rollercoaster. So now with this state loan, are the 50 people that got fired getting re hired? If not, how do they open Dreamworld up again with the same competencies in place and without compromising the guest experience despite having a quarter of their full time workforce gone? if they plan on re-opening but with a smaller experience like Movie World, how on earth are they going to pay the loan off when they can't possibly charge the money they need to in order to pay the loan back because the experience for guests is no longer what it was? It would then seem that the game for Gary Weiss then is to strip down Dreamworld to its bare parts and sell it before the balance is due.
  5. Yep. So you prop up the company that has not turned a profit a profit in half a decade precisely because they funnelled all profits for the decade prior into overseas investments instead of maintaining and growing their Australian operations.
  6. Occasionally I'll search through tender websites for theme park projects and yesterday's search at work had delivered some treasure. Here is what is worth noting: This is what the queue line and station looks like. It would appear they are going with a snake skeleton shade structure. Exit Path. There will be 2 tunnels. This is the modern entrance sign is going next to Sky Voyager in Main Street. They will be cutting and filling a sizeable amount of the coaster's site. As a result there will be a large, imposing retaining wall on the Giant Drop side. A look at the station structure. It looks the same as Rivals or Green Lantern. Ramp up to station. An overview of the site. I do not know how this will integrate with Buzzsaw. There is a lot of mentions of the name "Steel Taipan" in the documents, which must be the name they are going to use. When you go to the Australian Trade Mark Search website (https://search.ipaustralia.gov.au/trademarks/search/quick/result?q=ardent+leisure) you can see they have trademarked that name already. If the trademarks are anything to go by, you would also assume that Sidewinder may be renamed GoldCoaster (or The Gold Coaster or something like that) once when it opens again. There is a lot of PDF files in the tender that were cool to check out including Mack PDF files. Happy to upload them somewhere or send them to Parkz to upload if you all are interested to look at the tender further. And before anyone rages about leaks these files are easily available on the tender site and those names are found on the public Aussie trademark website.
  7. What will happen if the operating subsidiary (Ardent Leisure Limited) can't foot the bill, especially when Ardent's US debt facilities only apply to the US operations? Also, would a government at any level give Ardent a bailout after this? It'd be a PR disaster if they did.
  8. So you're telling us your daughter had photographic memory from say, 18 months old?
  9. Long-time lurker, first time poster (fair call if you take this with a grain of salt) - staff friends/family are on the ride as we speak putting the ride through it's paces (planned stoppages) for an imminent opening. I'd imagine the newish C-Suite want a firm date to announce at Ardent's Annual General Meeting on Friday.
