  1. What bothered me about this the most was the 'funny unlucky lady' who's been in three different 'incidents'. Two of them are people jumping out of Ferris wheels and dodgems catching fire (very funny because funny lady was there), but the main one is the Battersea Big Dipper accident. Five kids died, and they didn't mention anything other than "roller coaster went the wrong way and crashed" and showed an image of the aftermath with cheery circus music playing over the whole thing.
  2. Did they? I didn't go to the event but I thought the only time they used the area for a maze was in 2013, before MM (If I remember correctly the theme had something to do with Hollywood). I'm 90% certain they didn't use the area for Halloscream 2019 though.
  3. Coney Island, the mirror maze, the Hungry Horse and the Big Top. The only scare attraction that has been in Maloney's Corner has been Mystery Manor which used to operate year round.
  4. It's always been like that. There's a door to a function room in the Big Top directly to the right of the opening on the tower. Whenever it's being used the right stairs on the Big Dipper tower are closed off and temporary fencing similar to the one in the photo is put in.
  5. @GtmichaelsI think they were asking about how to get to the ride's station itself, and looking at the new photos, I'm very confused too. The storage track appears to be in the way of the opening of the tower, and I can't figure out how people will get to the station.
  6. I'd love to see the River Caves return, but the original thing was massive and took up the space underneath the first and third turnaround of Big Dipper. If we wanted to build an exact replica of the ride in the same space it'd require demolishing a small part of the Big Top, the office building, Tango Train and Volare. There's no room for a ride of that size anywhere else in the park. The space under Wild Mouse can't be used either, as it's being used for the Hungry Horse Cafe. My worry about that is how people will get there. It'd require a lot of planning and altering to the tickets building to add stairs and a ramp but why would you go through so much effort to open up such a small part of land which can only fit 2 or 3 small rides? The area is tiny. That's being used for more of the Hungry Horse Cafe. Like the steps next to the Ferris Wheel, it's usually busy and building there would mean cutting off yet another means of access into the park from the boardwalk. Anyways, I still can't wait for Luna Park to reopen, even if my posts it sounds as if I'm disappointed. This is really exciting and seeing new rides being constructed at my home park which I thought would never get a second coaster is very exciting!
  7. These rides would fit in the Amphitheatre/picnic area between Ferris Wheel and the Crystal Palace, but that would mean removing a pretty popular seating area which is pretty crowded whenever I visit. I do agree Luna Park has always been family oriented but a lot of the rides being introduced now are Kiddy Rides. I doubt many teenagers or younger adults would be keen on riding Cloud 9, Freaky Frog, Little Nipper, Silly Sub, Bug and Loopy Lighthouse. Looking at a satellite image from 1965, the 'family' rides such as the Dodgems, U-Drive, River Caves, etc. would still have been popular for the audience I mentioned above. I don't think there was a single ride designed for young children exclusively yet they would still be able to have a fulfilling day at the park.
  8. I wonder if they'll do anything to make Rockin' Tug look less tacky with that fading paint, Zamperla logo and temporary fencing.
  9. I was talking about the way the first launch is in the way of the path to get to the circular queue area under the wave turn seen in the animation. It looks too low to walk under. I couldn't get a very good screenshot from the video though, sorry.
  10. The concept art (which they've removed from their website annoyingly) shows the queues. The area looks like it'll be very tight. My worry is how the queue for Big Dipper will work, the launch track looks to be in the way. All I can think of is to either build a path over it or go around and over the edge of the building.
  11. Love those trains on Boomerang with the Aboriginal style artwork!
  12. Please, Luna Park, don't depart from what there already is! I just want them to keep the neon Big Dipper sign and leave it as that.
  13. This is the best logo we've seen for the new rides so far IMO. It's nice and simplistic, and would look good lit up on a 3D or 2D sign.
  14. Oh, wow. I didn't know that. I didn't actually know these machines were originals (I probably should've read the signs on the top of them ahaha). The article you linked says they can go for up to $15,000 each. If he owned the original machines and LPS is reportedly willing to purchase new ones they could buy them before it's too late.
  15. I did some research and found this article about the restorer that says the machines are owned by Luna Park so they should be staying thankfully.
  16. The site says annual passes will automatically get linked. I'm just wondering how it'll work for people who have older annual passes from before COVID (I have a 3-year pass from 2019). My guess is it's linked through your card number which is what you would use when booking a session when the park was operating in limited capacity. Since Luna Park records your ride activity that would obviously be used for the leaderboards and achievements but that won't be possible if the park continues to operate like it has been since July.
  17. I don't think Luna Park rides need logos. For the entirety of the park's history, the closest we've had to logos are stylized letters or bridges. If Luna Park just slaps these logos on small signs, that'll be very disappointing. They should probably follow the theme they've been going for recently, like the signs at the entrances of Tango Train and Volare, or even Sledgehammer based on the concept artwork. Just fancy words. Take a look at the base of the the original Tumblebug. There's a long mural across the queue with paintings of the iconic bug, the 'main character' of the ride. Since Little Nipper doesn't have a bridge but still has a 'main character', similar paintings of a cartoon shark along the base of the loading platform would IMO give the ride more soul than a fibreglass train and a copy-paste print around the back.
  18. The image Luna Park posted here shows Big Dipper 2 (41m) was around 1.5 times the size Big Dipper 3 will be so it'd probably be around 27 metres tall. I really shouldn't be credited for that ahaha, all I've done is taken clips out of existing media and put them onto my channel. Thanks anyways I guess!?! haha
  19. The final episode just aired. I don't want to spoil anything but that was incredible. Give it a watch, even if you're not interested in Luna Park. There's also a live Q&A on the ABC News Instagram about the show which is on now
  20. That would be great but also a strange idea, it's such a small ride. Luna Park does need more of those giant theming elements and ride bridges though because ever since reopening in 2004 most of them disappeared. I still don't understand why the giant wooden blocks from the kids rides and Spider's bridge didn't get moved to Maloney's corner. If they were there it would've made the area much more appealing.
  21. The same guy also posted a photo of Boomerang's track which appears to be in Big Dipper's spot for now.
  22. @Coasterlife You beat me to it! Ahaha! The first episode just aired so I figured I should make a mini-review. The recreations were amazing. I could tell a lot of effort went into them, but the interviews though, were what really made it for me. They were heart-wrenching, especially the ones with Jenny Godson and Jason Holman. It put the spotlight on the people and it's great for doing that. The only similar coverage I've seen of the fire was from Martin Sharp's 'Street of Dreams' film from 1988. I can't wait for the next episode which should be about the theories and Sharp's research. You should definately give it a watch.
  23. The ride could run three trains theoretically if the launches are blocks although that'd require some very fast operations. Hopefully LPS will run two trains on busy days. Something funny I just noticed in your screenshots is the train on the non-inverting loop in the concept art is going the wrong way!
  24. Seems interesting. I will be sure to watch it. Uh, what? Anyways, I found the gondolas from Tumblebug listed on gumtree. Joylands seems to be selling them off so if you have the space and really want one for whatever reason, you can get one. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/austral/antiques/historic-tumblebug-condolars/1267937243
