  1. Why don't you guys build the app on Flex? That way you'll be building one code that'll run on iOS, Android, BB and the desktop without any need to port it over. Considering the primary function of the app is fairly simple (retrieving data from a database and displaying it), it should be pretty basic with Flex.
  2. Since our parks are so small I don't think it'll be anything more than a novelty, but good on you guys for trying something different and being progressive. I'm curious to see how it all works. So long as you don't charge for it I'll be downloading the app.
  3. Figured this deserved it's own topic. For those that didn't see (or didn't scroll down far enough) the latest Parkz update for MW, our investigative photographer managed to grab a couple of shots of a new LW train in the maintenance bay. While there are some questionable things happening at the park I think they're also doing a lot of good. LW desperately needed new trains... they could've easily let the ride deteriorate and stay rough like so many coasters around the world.
  4. Back in 2004 we organised a meet a few weeks before Wonderland closed. This was back when the site was known as roller-coaster.com.au (or was it Total Thrills)? From what I remember it was fairly successful, the park was pretty accommodating with providing lunch, some souvenir and discounted entry. The only issue was the amount of people that said they'd come and didn't turn up.
  5. Have you been on an El Loco before? Pretty unfair statement to make if you haven't.
  6. No, enthusiasts want a B&M. The general public won't and don't care who manufacturers a coaster. I think the El Loco was a brilliant buy. From what I've heard they are very smooth and a heap of fun. It's great that they have recognized a potential capacity issue and chose to go with the 8 seat cars. This, accompanied with some very unique elements and lap bars will make for a really great coaster that I'm sure a lot of people will be talking about.
  7. I'll PM you my email address. Attach the pics to the email and I'll edit your post and get them uploaded for you.
  8. Directly under the main field where you type a message in you should see the "Attachments" area. Click the "Choose File" button and then click "Attach This File".
  9. Stranger things have happened. Entire coasters go up in a shorter time frame, so it might be enough for them to install a new ride system and touch up the (already fantastic IMO) theming. I just can't see MW opening two new attractions at the same time. Like I mentioned in the other thread Green Lantern will pull in the big crowds -- why spend an extra few million to achieve the same result? The park would be better off spreading out their investments to keep attendance high throughout the years. I think this may have been a bigger issue if entry was still $60-$70 for each park. Families actually assessed which parks offered better value... now with the insanely cheap VIP pass they're likely to go to MW anyway, regardless of whether the park has one family ride or six.
  10. I guess everyone knew Batman Adventure was on it's last legs, but I think it's a shame they couldn't keep it going throughout the Christmas holidays. I enjoyed going through the rooms a lot more than the ride itself... I really hope they'll be preserving those areas in some form for whatever replaces the ride.
  11. So looks like this will definitely be the first El Loco with lapbars only.
  12. The article suggests that MW will also be getting a Zac Spin, hence the sloppy journalism.
  13. From a marketing/financial standpoint it wouldn't be the best move to take either. Green Lantern will already give MW the upper hand over the Summer holidays, it'd be best for them to milk their investment for as long as possible, and then think about LTRR's replacement in 1-3 years. But hey if it does happen I won't be on here whinging about why VRTP didn't think through their strategy
  14. Very wishful thinking but I'd love if the lift was entirely enclosed with lights/smoke inside. They could then take Timber Drop's idea and build hollow skyscrapers that the car will fly in and around. The coaster itself will be great, but I just think that simple ideas like this will add so much more to the experience.
  15. Ah thanks mate, no idea how I missed that. If the rendering is accurate I believe we are looking at the first El Loco with lap bars only.
  16. Was there a different video up prior to the site going down? I can't find any "proof" that the cars are 8 seaters.
  17. Great to hear! Looking forward to the report/pics.
  18. ^ Presumably because the staff hosting the event will be tied up with duties running the park on busy weekends, and more importantly the start of the school holidays this weekend. It's fantastic for them to recognize and involve us in an event like this, really shows that we've come a long way from the days of any images of the park having to be preapproved by management before being allowed to upload them.
  19. Not only that but I can't think of anything more boring than waiting for a ride to lose momentum. My guess is that they're having some teething issues trying to get the car to catch on the chain.
  20. I'd say they're necessary to keep the G's in tact. They will already be quite high at the bottom of the "loop" as it is, without any trims it would probably push them beyond what we can sustain comfortably.
  21. Considering the low capacity I wonder how Dreamworld will operate the ride. Seems some parks with this model will run 2 full cycles where as others only do 1... I guess it'll all depend on how busy/quiet the park is.
  22. Really? I knew they made a horrible noise at speed but would've thought they'd have been relatively smooth. Will be interesting to see how BuzzSaw rides and if they've made any improvements to the car.
  23. 2012 is going to be a huge year for the industry. http://www.latimes.c...38.photogallery SFGA gets a B&M wing rider, SFDK gets an insane Maurer Sohne (?) that Dreamworld should have ordered and SFMM gets a drop ride that dethrones Giant Drop as tallest in the world. EDIT: Looks like LA Times leaked the information a little too early and took the page down. Luckily the pics are still available: SFGA's Wingrider SFDK's launched Maurer Sohne (?) SFMM's droptower (both sides of S:EFK)
  24. Thanks for the great pics. Pretty interesting to see how it affects the skyline and fares against ToT. Certainly isn't the most attractive coaster around though... I'm being a bit fussy but I really don't like the scaffold-like supports. It'd be cool if they continued with the theme and covered them up a la Rip Ride Rockit (when it first opened). Wishful thinking I know but hey, at least the station is looking good!
  25. I use Photoshop as I always have it open on my computer, but there's a really cool "PowerToy" that Microsoft provides. To resize an image all you have to do is right click the image and select one of the preset sizes. http://windows.micro...oads/windows-xp -- Click the "PowerToys" tab and download "Image Resizer".
