My thoughts: The theming looks much better than I thought it would, and I also like the colour scheme of the ride. The only pet peeve I have with it is that it doesn’t match up with Superman and is a whole different theme. And unfortunate timing with April 2024, as it is well past the movie release date. Also unfortunate that this is the second ride based after a movie that flopped big time (Green Lantern) “the first ride-within-a-ride in the Southern Hemisphere” Oh god, not again. Can’t wait to see when the new Village Hotel opens “The only hotel in the world themed to Village Roadshow”

Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point "Closing"
TBoy replied to Coasterjoe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
That was only sold by Intamin, it was built by ABC Fun Rides. The reason I am saying it is risky is because Zamperla have not built a coaster of that size yet. Their tallest coaster is 122ft/55 mph. TTD will be 3.5x the height and 2x the speed at least, most likely taller and faster due to the vertical spike. -

That sucks. I used to be on Team Zamperla but after hearing how unreliable the Wild Mouse was I switched to Team Intamin. -
Wow that is extremely slow. Even some of the kids rides would've been faster most likely! I agree that the ride will most likely stay for a few more years (until WoO/Scooby is done) then in either 2025 or 2026 we will be saying goodbye. Remember the 10-year teardown period will happen in 2026, and I have a feeling that VRTP wont bother trying to fix a very unreliable ride and just remove it.

My understanding was that Intamin just sold the product, and it was constructed by ABC Fun Rides IIRC.

I would prefer it to go to Sea World if one was brought to Village TBH. Movie World already has enough coasters (9 in 2025) and adding another will mean 1/2 of all rides would be coasters. Sea World is lacking in the ride department so I would send it there.

According to the website, Doomsday is finally open after 138 days
-
My idea is to get there early and rope-drop Rivals and book VQ for Superman before you get on, which will save you a lot of time. Then VQ WWF and ride something like Batwing, JL or Doomsday and then VQ Road Runner (if you want to ride) and do the other flats you haven't done yet.

I think it was 2016 when it was closed, however I remember riding it in 2015.

You also have The Plunge at Aussie World if you go up to there. Unfortunately if you go to any of the VIC, NSW or WA parks (not counting water park attractions in hybrid parks) there is no water rides. We have a real lack of them down under with only 4 in the whole country. I am hoping the next additions after New Atlantis and Rivertown respectively both Sea World and Dreamworld introduce a new water ride.

Wizard of Oz - Movie World Arkham Asylum Replacement
TBoy replied to Park Addict 93's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The quotes due date have been extended until July 7 according to the website. -
(sorry to change the topic) Doomsday delayed again until the 23rd of June.

Could it be related to the Heroes vs. Villains event? Remember it starts on Saturday so it might be preparation for it.

Dreamworld - Kenny & Belinda's Dreamland Updates
TBoy replied to Ogre's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If it does get relocated, it would most likely have to get a retheme either to another Big Red vehicle or another property. It would be strange having two Big Red Boats that would cause some confusion. -
I hope eventually there is a new ride planned either for the area or the old Corkscrew/Sea Viper area after WoO/Surfrider at MW. There is only 11-12 rides in the whole park currently, and half of them are rides in Nickelodeon Land. Yes I know rides aren't the only thing to do, but if someone comes deliberately for them without wanting to see the animals/shows, then it can be a half-day park for them.

More of the flume is being dismantled (thanks to Jaggs Journeys) Not gonna lie, a bit sad to see it go. I have memories of being on this ride as a young kid at Sea World and my grandma sitting at the back trying not to get her hair wet, and me laughing when she did end up getting wet.

Bye bye hut (thanks to Theme Park Ogre)
-
I'm hoping it will be a new ride or something but it is most likely to remove the hut, which is a positive. I do hope its a flat and not a coaster however as if it is, then it will mean 6/7 of the past additions would be coasters (DCR, SR, WoO Boomerang 1, WoO Boomerang 2, SFC and another coaster) with Marvin being the exception. Yes I would rather JDS to be removed and replaced with a LT dark ride similar to LTRR but that wont happen. I don't like how all LT is reserved for kids rides only so it would be good for a family LT ride.

Wizard of Oz - Movie World Arkham Asylum Replacement
TBoy replied to Park Addict 93's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Just had a look through the documents, and will say my thoughts. Firstly, it seems construction will start soon which is good. I am guessing it will begin after the school holidays with the coaster track/supports moved onsite from Paradise Country eventually. Based on the construction start, I would guess WoO would open before Rivertown due to construction starting earlier and the area being less complex/using many elements from LW/Arkham. Next, one of the sentences says "Pre-Ride Experience Building Refurbishment" which got me wondering. Maybe there could be a pre-show inside the green castle/white castle (Arkham station/theatre building respectively) which would be great instead of inside the station. If there is pre-shows however, I hope there is an option to skip the pre-show and go straight to the coasters so it isn't like Lethal Weapon where you had to watch the 5-minute preshow. Based on that, specifically "building refurbishment" I would say most of the buildings currently in the area will not be demolished and instead reused, even know the Arkham building especially looks like a different building in the concept art. It also says the theming elements will be done by Pico Play, the company that did Steel Taipan/Sky Voyager at Dreamworld and TNT/Project Zero at Gumbuya. My initial thoughts with the concept art were that the area looked similar to Super Nintendo World with the theming and elements, but my guess is because some inspiration was took from it as SNW in Japan was also done by Pico. Overall I am excited to see what comes with this and Rivertown and cant wait to come and see the finished product. -

Soaring Swing is being dismantled (thanks to Oliver Trunks via Jaggs Journeys) -
Great to see them completely restoring it, but unfortunately it means the coaster will be down for 2+ years. Not a good time to be a wild mice fan in Australia with this and SDSC both closed for 2+ year refurbs.
