That has got to be one of the worst pieces of concept art I've ever seen. WVTP has a very talented art studio, I am baffled as to why that looks so bad. And can I say this for the last time, it is CONFIRMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as INTAMIN!!!!!!!! So I'm pretty sure if anyone posts again saying it's Vekoma or any other manufacturer or they hope it will be I'm pretty sure I'm going to delete their post out of sheer frustration of their stupidity. Sorry to be so harsh but for goodness sake people, read the thread.

The abundance of footings and absense of Main Street would suggest its very much a today project.
-
I can't say anything more because anything further I know has come from inside work so I can't release the information to the public. Saying don't expect to see it back is from things I've heard in the public realm. Sorry guys.

Cool. Maybe they are trying out a hazer up there... I'll investigate. The red laser is fine, and would work great to hide the drop. It just needs some more/regular fog to bring it out.

Don't expect to see the fire ever return on Bermuda... sadly

Head to http://www.rideaccidents.com and the top story is about an accident with Liseburg's Rainbow. I'm sure at least one member will be sad to hear the news.
-
Did you tell the ride attendants? You would simply have to wait for the end of the day and once the ride is shut down someone could go and retrieve your wallet from the restricted areas around the track. Sorry about the lazer typo... i was in a hurry.

The 'red light' in the final room is indeed a red lazer projecting a cone. We were stick in that block for about 5 mins (they seems to have trouble pumping the number of cars that were on the track through fast enough to prevent stacking) and every now and again a fog machine blasts a small puff out and the lazer looks amazing... for about 10 second. There just simply need to be a bit more fog and it needs to trigger just before the car comes into the room. The lazers weren't just not visible in the main room, they weren't working. One of the heads was stuck in a single position at a low intensity but that was it. I do indeed intend to bring this up with the right people (because it sadens me a lot to see it like that) but before I did so, I wanted to check if it was just one of those days or if indeed the ride has gone bad.

For insurance reasons I don't think we'll see WnW build the body version of the bowl simply because the risk of injury is just too great. They really should step up to the plate and go with something like WnW in Orlando is doing with the Brain Wash and Disco slides. I think disco H20 would be the most obvious choice. Of course just because its been aproved with council as a Sidewinder it doesn't mean that's what the model of ride is called. That could just be the name WnW has given it. But you're right, given that the slides on Mach 5 are already called sidewinder, it may very well be the model of slide. I guess time will tell.

Just a question out to anyone who has ridden Scooby Doo Lately... I went over to the park last Monday and rode and was very dissapointed with how little of the lighting and effects were working. I'm just wondering if I caught it on a bad day (these things happen) or if it's been like that a lot lately? I would form a negative opinion if it was like this all the time now but if it's just one bad day I understand. Basically much of the que lighting wasn't working, the fog in the fountain was off, no lights in the lift, no lazers working, no haze in the lazer area, no light on scooby at the end, and not enough smoke in the end room. Hopefully it was just a bad day because this ride is usually one of our best.

I will confirm that Kumali rides much better than LW, but I big part of that is the extra work done on the track as well.
-
I know for sure that the launches will both be hydraulic, and not LIM based. That is pretty common knowledge.
-
Its definitely Intamin. Staff have already undergone training on Superman as this ride will use the same control system (plc) as its big brother over at movie world. No chance of a Vekoma here

Funny that they claimed to have turned off the fountain and removed the wipeout water for Water Restrictions... but now the restrictions are over they haven't put them back. Typical. As a side note, MW removed the geysers on WWF for the same reason and they are now back on again.

It's funny that a discussion about Fire and Ice Dragons pops up this week. I've heard a lot about those coasters of late...

You have to remember though that people who post under an alias can usually get away with saying what they've heard from 'inside.' I choose not to hide my identity and everyone at work knows who Rabid is so we can't do that. So if I had been called in to see the plans for the new coaster and the sale contract was sitting signed on the desk I still couldn't 'mention a whisper' about it because its against our employment contact. BTW I haven't had any such meeting. Sometimes you'd be surprised by what rumours actually are true. I can say that the rumour mill is flying thick and fast amongst people at the moment so I wouldn't be surprised if something comes of it. I usually base my judgement on how much info is in the rumour. Like if someone tells me what it is, what it's based on, where it's going and all that then there is a good chance it's real. If its just "hey a coaster is going in" I'll hold off on believing. From what I've been told though is you can see contruction markers all down Main Street right now so I recon you can confirm the one about the roof.

Not much to go wrong with Scooby??? Each car must clear over 100 sensors just to make one trip around the circuit. Add to that a dual sidded lift, a turntable, dark ride and coaster portions featuring extensive AV components and both an load and unload station and you have a pretty complex little wild mouse there!

African Safari World: New Village Theme Park
rappa replied to rosscoe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I have no idea, it's just something I noticed from reading all the press material on the park. At this stage there has been no mention of it being a WVTP property. -
Gazza I think you missed the point. I believe he was saying he chickened out of FILMING the simulator portion of the ride, not actually riding it...
-
When they used to have the smoke in there the laser hid the dip really well. For some reason the smoke hasn't been in that last room for ages now. I know the smoke was removed from the main room due to interfearance with the brakes but the small amount required for that effect in that location shouldn't prevent it from being used... Hope they get it back up because the ride is lacking some of the quality it used to have right now IMO

Yeah I mean it's only one of the longest running live shows ever and internationally regarded as one of the best theme park shows of all time. Thank god it's gone hey. I'm sorry but you're a moron, that's a stupid thing to say. They will have a hard time replacing such an amazing show (so for many reasons). I think you will be in the minority when you say it's 'about time.' Just to add yes the show was open to the public. Sadly the impression in the lead up to the day was that it was a ticket only show and I'm sure many people did not even try to go for that very reason. It's a shame if anyone missed out due to simple miss communication.

Just to clarify Aquatrax is a model of coaster made by Intamin.
-
If a member of staff from the parks were to post on here saying the ride will be open tommorrow and then is not then technically the park is open to liability for false advertising. You may think it rediculous but a guest could complain that they were told a ride would be open and then it wasn't when they arrived at the park. Unfortunately all you can do is call the park on the day and see if it is open. Due to the nature of ride breakdowns it is often difficult if not impossible to give estimates on when things will be fixed until the problem has actually been tracked down. Often you will get a ride back up only to have it fault again minutes later.

African Safari World: New Village Theme Park
rappa replied to rosscoe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think one minor thing worth noting is this is NOT a Warner Village Theme Parks enterprise. It will have the same parent company Village Roadshow but they park will not fall under the WVTP (John Menzies) umbrella. It is a venture of Village International Theme Parks. That will certainly affect the relationship between funding for gold coast parks and this one as they won't be eating out of the same direct pot. -
I've heard it's beyond crap and that coupled with the fact it holds no sentimental value to me whatsoever means that's probably a no. I will be in the US this year but only socal and vegas, possibly cedar point. On my top list of parks to visit are Dollywood and Holiday World so they will be my priority for now.
