Clearly no maintenance happening at Arkham so this topic has run its course.

The New Atlantis - Construction Updates
rappa replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
RCDB says about 100feet and they tend to be about as accurate as Richards articles so I’d say that’s likely what we’ll see. -
Apologies Slick. Sorry all, what I meant to say in the first place was “Silly media always beating up on Ardent. They are just trying to make the park ok again, we should give them a go and applaud their efforts. Awesome management team in place there.” Have a good weekend 👈LOL such a zinga
-
Actually no they don’t. Ardent at any time could just bypass all of this and voluntarily give her a payout. No lawyer, no insurance company. Actual cash. Maybe instead of building a roller coaster if need be. By being cheap asses and all about the dollar they horrifically killed 4 people. We are meant to accept they’ve changed and are no longer all about the dollar but this case really just shows it’s business as usual.

I'll correct myself because I wasn't very specific and then indeed sounded wrong. Yes plenty of people are coming to the Gold Coast. But what I should have said is "nobody is planning a trip to the Gold Coast based on what rides are open at the parks." They're coming to the Gold Coast in droves because they are desperate for a break and there is literally no where else they can go. That's not opinion, its not armchair expertise, its fact, backed up by actually speaking to visitors and accomodation providers here in town. Joz is correct, you can't anticipate something you didn't anticipate. You'll also note yesterday they extended it out to the 28th rather than just one day so that's exactly what people asked for.

I think this is the one time that you can say Dreamworld isn't really at fault for that ride being a pile of crap that now needs to go. Whilst we can argue they should have invested in a proper coaster and not some cheap one trick plonk it down and go model, they seem to have gotten fairly screwed by a terrible design and manufacturer. It seems about as well designed as the Giant Inverted Boomerangs really. About the only thing you can fault the park on is their usual cheap ways to save a park style of trying to run it with a single operator and sacrificing capacity to do so.
-
That would be all well and good but nobody is planning a trip to the Gold Coast right now for one. This has zero relation to your trip to Disneyland, it’s a terrible comparison. I must reference back to a couple months ago when apparently it wasn’t satisfactory to have ride closures on the maintenance page because “most people wouldn’t check that before planning a trip.” Which one is it? And also all of this assumes the park expects it wont be open when in fact they do expect it will be open and just ‘shit happens.’ Under your theory how much extra time should they add on to the end of the expected closure to be safe? A week? Two weeks? Should it maybe be an extra 2 months just to be extra safe? Or just to ensure no one is ever possibly disappointed maybe they just add an extra 11 months on so it says it’s always closed... that would be safe right? Its a silly argument to suggest the park should add extra closure time to allow for something they don’t expect to happen.

In a sane logical world yes. But they wouldn’t, as evidenced by the fact people are winging that it’s getting moved back by a couple days.
-
The post said "I wonder why it would be pushed back" I think my answer was pretty appropriate to the comment. And there is bound to be a large disconnect between the maintenance and operations workers getting the ride reopened and the parks web content people who most likely make updates at the end of the day. The dates are very likely realistic. Imagine such a scenario: -The ride needs to complete 100 cycled with operators before it can reopen. Was meant to be done on tuesday ready for wednesday opening -Minor issue meant that they only got 80 cycles in by the end of the day so they let marketing know to push the opening back a day -wednesday they start cycling and after 18 cycles ride throws a major fault. Due to limited hours the specialist needed to rectify it wasn't available until the end of the day with worldwide time differences. Damn have to let marketing know to change the date again -repeat If the ride was changed with another 2 weeks further downtime people would be 'up in arms' about the delay. If they only adjust by a day and don't make it people complain they can't give realistic dates. You can make a fair argument that its crap so many rides were closed. But I think the park gets a pass at a few extra days delay on getting a ride open thats been closed for such an extended period, something that's never happened ever before in Australia.

It’s almost like there are a multitude of tests and adjustments that need to be satisfied after being closed for half a year and they aren’t an exact science that confirm to a schedule on a website 😮

Sea World Monorail removed from website and park map
rappa replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It’s actually a bit of a theme park thing that buzz and bus bar get used wrong. A BUS bar is a power rail (commutator is another word) which some sort of Collector runs along to make an electrical connection. Think monorail, or how coaster trains get signals in the station to control the restraints. Their often yellow or green. A BUZZ bar is an old form of coaster restraint. Think the lap bars on the Wonderland wooden coasters if you remember/saw them. They are a single position non ratcheting bar that simply folded down to somewhat restrain the riders or out of the way to embark/disembark the train. When power was applied to unlock their mechanism they mad a ‘buzzing’ sound. Hence the name. Because Buzz Bars are a coaster thing and also Bus Bars get talked a lot about in theme park tech speak its become a bit of a thing where people use the wrong name. **fun fact Buzz Bar is also name of Sea World canteen. -
To be fair just getting to experience the park at night is a unique experience for a lot of guests. Even Carnivale in the Summer barely has any night time with the longer days. Plus we don’t know what amount of ‘free’ theming and atmosphere there is to enjoy.

If you toddlers are quite done using your big boy words we’ll get back to the topic at hand.
-
Well same manager for both projects yeah so sounds accurate. But the only install I’ve seen as dodgy as that in Scooby is the one for the on ride photo so 🤷♂️
-
Perhaps its more expensive so they can do something better that this effort!

The rules are the rules. The health guidelines have specific requirements for patrons seated for dining/beverage. Being in a theme park doesn’t magically make that go away so they have to follow the regulations.

Has luna park sydney pulled the plug on 2 classic rides

Indeed there can. Constantly being a condescending armchair expert does little to endear people to one's point of view. -
Sky Voyager wins Master Builders Qld Award
rappa replied to Insight's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Thank you for the correction @wikiverse I definitely had my wires crossed on what the award was. In that case I take it back, it’s hilarious that it won a construction award given it was way behind schedule and pieces fell off it 😂😂 -
The New Atlantis - Construction Updates

What does this mean? All our major coaster installations have been overseen by representatives of the manufacturer. It’s great and all that you have both cooked up this idea that some local chippies will just follow the plans and knock em selves up a coaster but it’s only that, an idea. Doesn't seem to be any more that we can do to persuade you otherwise so guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
